OMG I close my eyes and think of this place. My mouth waters at the memory of being here. Hot damn. Their food is incredible. And people don’t be stupid and come here for meat! Their shrimp cocktail is perhaps the best I’ve ever had in my life. Real horseradish! The shrimps are monstrous and a wonderful amount. So crisp, clean, and fresh. Their trout is also outstanding. I would have gotten the sea bass but they were sold out. My trout came in this amazing delectable butter lemon sauce and with some shrimp on top as well. The spinach was like butter in my mouth. I also had 2 of the man’s drinks. Love love love. I love the old fashion and they have an outstanding one here. I left buzzing, happy, and so full. Can’t wait to come back.

Food here is good — much better than the alternatives at hobby. The staff not so tasty. Overall pretty lackadaisical bunch. When I asked for a to-go menu, the waitress responded with«like to take home?»

While quite a bit over-priced, it really is quite good food for an airport. The Seafood Fondue is full of flavor, shrimp, crawfish, and cheese and made a wonderful appetizer. The salads are HUGE but also full of flavor and ingredients as well. The dressing was balanced and refreshing amidst all the ordinary airport fried food.

While waiting to fly out of Hobby, I stopped by Pappadeaux’s and was seated right away. The server was polite and attentive. I ordered the small seafood cobb salad and the small in Texas is still huge! The salad took a bit to get but it was full of crab, shrimp, crispy bacon, tomatoes, boiled egg and bleu cheese. The crab tasted so fresh and the salad was plenty for dinner. Their menu is extensive with seafood, burgers and salads. There are plenty of seats and their drinks look fabulous!

Always get speedy service and attention while stopping in for a bite while traveling. Oysters on half shell are huge and fresh. Other preparations tend to be heavy but its a cajun place so just be ready for that.

I must be the last Texan on earth to try Papadeaux! I moved out of state over 8 years ago and kicked myself daily for not giving Papadeaux a try before I left. Papadeaux became really popular in my circle of friends who regularly post their mouth watering food pictures on social media, so I was dying to try this place. While flying out of Hobby airport I decided to give Papadeaux a go. I was seated immediately by the hostess & my waitress appeared as soon as I sat down to take my order. I ordered the seafood platter and a cocktail(cannot remember the name). My cocktail was delicious! I wanted 3 more but had a layover in Atlanta & didnt want to get buzzed & shuffle around another airport for 2 hours! My food came out in a very reasonsble amount if time. The catfish was AH-MAZING! The shrimp was okay, nothing to write home about. Overall the food was good, portion size was very generous and the drinks and service were A-1! I cannot wait to take my boyfriend when I visit Texas again. Think I’ll try the resturants outside of the aiport as I’m sure they offer more variety on the menu.

As my husband would say: «You don’t even feel like you’re in the airport when you’re in Pappadeaux!». Staff is mega friendly, we got a booth inside before a flight and enjoyed Cobb salads with a good amount of very fresh crab, tomatoes, avocado and shrimp. It was very yummy and the restaurant is nice with comfortable seating — definitely a good place to chill at before a flight! Everything on the menu was appealing so we’ll drop by again for sure!

Always a fan of Pappadeaux restaurant. Gotta love Cajon food. Careful you will pay through the nose for cocktails.

While waiting for our flight, my boyfriend and I decided to stop in for drinks and a snack. I’m a huge fan of lobster mac and cheese, and while Pappadeaux’s doesn’t offer this exactly, they do offer something similar, that is this crab mac and cheese dish. The pasta was cooked perfectly, not too firm and not too soft. While the dish itself was not very large, probably about 10 mouthfuls(is that even a real measurement!?), it had large chunks of delicious crab. The dish didn’t have an overwhelming cheesy flavor, which is often the case with mac and cheese at restaurants. Rather, the cheese had the perfect amount of sharpness. It had a crispy top, personally my favorite part of baked mac and cheese. The service at this location was okay, nothing great. I wasn’t expecting exceptional service at an airport establishment, but it definitely felt like the waitress just wanted to get us in and out. They have a drink called the 7 horseman which my boyfriend swears by. Have a couple of these to get the fun rolling!

Cons: I was going to give this place a negative review, because I hate eating here. I hate that they make me sit at the bar since I’m always by myself. I hate that It’s so noisy. I hate that other patrons bump into me while I am trying to enjoy this guilty pleasure. They don’t have the bread and butter that they provide at the regular restaurant locations. I think the airport location is more expensive than the regular location. Guess I’m paying for convenience. Pros: but if I hate it so much, why do I eat here every single time I fly out of HOU? The food. Love that greasy, buttery food. Oyster on the ½ shell. Calamari. Some sort of fish drenched in butter. Greek salad to go so that I can eat it the next day for lunch.

Why 5 stars? Because this is definitely the best food option at Hobby! — — — I’ve eaten at Pappadeaux many-a-time after growing up in Houston, and even in my younger days as a non-foodie, I always loved any of the Pappa’s enterprises. Seeing one at an airport? I’m sold. Our stomachs had been put to the test after a week-long venture of stuffing our faces with family on vacation, so we both opted for a cajun salad. It was everything I’d hope for — airport or no airport. Despite feeling pregnant with a food baby, I didn’t want to stop eating. It made me feel like all was right with the world. So much so, that I came back again on my next visit to Hobby, and did the same exact thing. It was just as delightful the second time around. I fly in and out of Hobby a couple times a year, and I don’t even have to think about what my favorite restaurant is :)

I was very skeptical about eating at a seafood restaurant in an airport. With a delayed flight for several hours, this seemed like the best option for decent food at Hobby. We made the right choice. There was a wait for a reason. I wanted something very plain and safe so I opted for the Greek salad and added grilled chicken to it. I had found out from the waiter that the history of the restaurant goes back to Greece. Clearly that is the case because the salad was absolutely amazing. I would never think that a seafood restaurant chain would even offer a Greek salad option, but it makes sense with the history. This was a win! I cleaned my plate. The chicken was also very good, something I wasn’t certain would be at a seafood place. The customer next to us highly recommended the seafood, and even steak. The prices are high, which I suppose is to be expected at an airport, but the food was satisfying. If you can get past the wait, sitting on top of people, and luggage moving back and forth and bumping into you, this place is great! I imagine that off an airport premise this would be a nice option.

Who knew there was good food at an airport?! This is the nicest place and prolly the most expensive. All seafood pretty much and it ranges from fish, crawfish and other southern fixings. I tried the crawfish platter with half fried crawfish, half étouffée with dirty rice. Damn this was good! For real. So saucy and ricey with fried stuff. The dirty rice just has some meats in there and the étouffée is like a curry with little crawfish in there. Soooo good. So full. So butter. So bloat. $ 26 for this puppy and I didn’t even finish half.

This review is based on one visit to this location and applies here only, because the chain is one of my favorites. Food 4. Service 1 or less. First why does hostess put you in rearmost seat near bathroom, when they have plenty up front declined that. Next seated up front, ordered gumbo and a platter. 20 minutes later platter showed up and waitress says«you never got your gumbo» no. Also no silverware even with food. Also walked past 4 times or more in that 20 minutes and couldn’t help notice empty table. Later couldn’t find her to get check, and then took forever. Never one hospitable word, or apology for the gumbo. I will Skip this location in the future.

PAPPADEAUX: A solid choice not just for airport food but food anywhere. Food: Recommend the Seafood Cobb salad(medium size). If you are super hungry, get large. Also try the grilled bread — like giant croutons with olive oil. Delicious! Seating: If you are not in a rush, sit outside in the terminal concourse and watch people rushing to their flights. Indoor seating and bar seating is also available Recommendation: Eat here.

I will make this review as simple and best I can. The reason: cannot find better words. Inspite if being a chain, they are better than most of the stand alone restaurants. Food is 110% awesome. I am not sure about other locations but hobby airport location is a must try. Food is simply superb. Check my pics.

This was quote good. Another airport stuck having to eat– I opted for the lobster bisque and a crab cake. The bisque was in a large bowl(should be for $ 11), but had big chunks of lobster– didn’t taste any sherry but it was very hot and filling. Didn’t complain. The crab cake was also pricey– but presentation was very good, crab cake was a bit hidden under shoe string fries but had a rich crawfish sauce around it and then found the crab cake. Not big, a bit too much filler– but pounding away on my laptop working and eating– it was still tasty. I’ve been in Boston a good bit so won’t compare and also Houston and New Orleans(home to Pappas…) this airport rendition was an ok stop. Really impressed with the service and food. Went ahead and paid my own vs expense acct– hard to put in $ 40 for lunch for one but enjoyed it. Will go here again if stuck at Hobby. I do like all the papa’s in town and have spent some $$$ so when I go– I go for the better options. Pleasantly pleased here!!!

This is another mixed review from the airport in Houston. I was not hungry just looking for a place to chill and have a drink however, my wife was hungry and wanted some seafood. She decided on this place, we were seated and the waiting game began. Our server was one of the worst I have had in a long time. We sat there for some time before he finally came over to take our drink orders. We got that done and food was ordered. I was told the food was very good, however like I said I did not eat just drank. The drinks were amazing once you get them. This guy was something else, you ask him for napkins and he disappears into the back into some black hole and it takes him a good 5 minutes to come back with the napkins. I would watch him and every table he had was getting annoyed because he took so long to do anything. i don’t know if he did not have a desire to turn tables and make more money or if he was just there to socialize with the bar staff. I watched him several times take someones credit card, go behind the bar, run the card, get the receipts, come out of the bar and stop behind a pole and chat with the girls behind the bar for a good 3 to 5 minutes before bringing the competed bill back to the table. If you are not in the airport waiting to catch a flight that would be ok, but when you are purposefully holding people up to socialize, this is something management needs to address. Fortunately we don’t spend a lot of time in the Houston airport but I will not sit at one of his tables again.

This restaurant is surprisingly good for being at the airport and it saved me from starving to death. I was crazy hungry and close to hypoglycemia upon arriving at Houston Hobby Airport at approx. 15:00 after having eaten nothing all day. I needed an immediate infusion of calories and this places did the trick and did it well. I first ordered a massive plate of a dozen oysters on the half shell. They were delicious and fresh, for an airport restaurant. Then I ordered a huge plate of salmon with shrimp on top of it. It was delicious. For dessert i ordered cheese cake. It was good, but not amazing. I would return to this restaurant and probably drink more next time I visit Houston.

Thank you Unilocal and Pappadeaux for making the two hour delay in Houston TX less painful! The delay was a little annoying especially since I had to leave my poor pup in his crate :( But the following items suuuuure did make it a little easier to grasp: –White wine spritzer: a good start as I needed to cool down a bit. But a little too sweet for my palette. –J. Lohr Cabernet: One of my current faves and was so happy this was on the wine list! –Grilled Salmon with Lump Crab and Grilled Shrimp over sweet corn and smoked bacon– AMAZING dish! 2 hour delay, $ 60 down, but a memorable meal to boot. I’m not mad! Catch this over be the Southwest gates! If you have a pup, you can sit in their outside«patio» area. Service is also fantastic! :)
