I have never tried mediterranean food but walking down the strip after getting a few things at Best Buy heading to Subway but the smell passing by Shish KaBob made me change my mind. I went in not knowing what to get but the girl at the counter suggested the koobideh kabob plate which I ended up getting. Well let me tell you it was delicious. Its a ground beef Kabob which is seasoned perfect and full of flavor. The persian rice was really good with a bit of spice sprinkled on top. The portion was plenty. It will not dissapoint. Definitely will be going back

Best lamb gyro in town! It’s a hole in the wall but get the lamb gyro and some hummus with bread.

Sorry my very nice hostes, despite your hospitality and kindness, this food is just too damn salty. It’s like salt’s the main ingredient. Please kindly revise recipe and use fresher meat so you do’t have to salt it so much.

Came here looking to try some new gyros. Sweet lady at the counter, she makes sure you understand what you’re getting which I appreciate. Got the lamb gyro and a coke which was around $ 8ish. Little more on the pricey side but it’s my first time so whatever. Fries are not included and those were an extra $ 1.59. Generous portion, great garlic sauce, and the bread was great. Definitely coming back if I’m in the neighborhood.

I didn’t expect much walking in, but my God, their food is amazing. I ordered the Gyro and it was sublime. They stuff that thing with more gyro meat than I’ve ever seen in a gyro.

I randomly found this place and I must say, I have had some good chicken shawarma before but this is one of the best I’ve had. The meet was cooked perfectly and tasted fantastic. Not to mention, the owner is one of the sweetest women I’ve met. The cook was a sweet lady as well. Combined with the cheap prices, I definitely would recommend this place to my friends.

I found this place after shooting skeet down the street at American shooting centers. This place is very authentic and the owner was the sweetest woman you could ever imagine. When I told her it was my first time she made it a point to have me try the grape leaves. They were very fresh and the sauce was robust and creamy. I ordered the lamb gyro plate for my entrée and a shirazi salad on the side. The shirazi salad was crisp and fresh with a slight lemon zing. The lamb was seasoned better than most places I’ve been and the portion was hardy. I ended up splurging and getting a baklava as well. The baklava was tasty and crunchy.

Shish kabob café serves the closest you can get to homemade food type of Mediterranean grilled items. The beef and chicken were very well cooked and were given in good quantity. The quality of the meat was premium including the lamb but if you don’t like real lamb, you will not like this lamb because it is very strong to the taste and smells very meaty. Hummus was good and so was the pita bread. Worth a second shot but the inside is not very large like other restaurants.

I absolutely loved this place! The owner is incredibly friendly and kind! She was welcoming and sent over some complimentary food for us to try. The meat we ordered was juicy, flavorful, and fresh served on a bed of rice. The atmosphere is a little eh, the plates and cutlery were plastic and the plates were a little dirty, however the owner was very kind and gladly replaced them. Overall I recommend this place for lunch or a casual dinner with amazing food and a lovable owner!

I’ve been here twice. I had great food both times: chicken and beef kabobs. We also got tabouleh and hummus. The hummus was not as thick as what one would find in the grocery store, but liked it very much. The texture was a nice change of pace.

Very odd place, the service is like talking to a kiosk in a foreign language the poor guy was clueless or maybe it was his head phones distracting him… Food Gyro-Husband said it was OK but lacked balance between the meat and the sauce. He ordered a side of fries but the guy said they don’t have fries and we then pointed to the menu where it says fries and he goes… oh the fryer is broken. Chicken Shwarma plate-Oddly it has a good flavor just weird. The Hummus is the consistency of baby food mixed with water. The pita was old and cold and they served it with non fresh tomatoes, pickles, and rice. The chicken is dry but all together if you hook it up right the flavor profile is their just missing love and care. All in all no where near the best Mediterranean food I have had, very weird but edible.

Shish kabobs has the best hummus I’ve ever eaten. The staff is courteous and friendly. Everything is fresh and homemade.

I used to love this place but the service has really gone down. I came here to order a hummus to go. There were 2 guys working there. There was one person sitting there waiting on his food and another walked in behind me to order hers. I place my order and after sitting 10 minutes I got up and stood by the cash register. I guess the guy finally realized he forgot my order and put a container of hummus in the bag with my pita bread. When I reached in to rip a piece of pita to munch on the way back to work it was cold. Really? That’s what I waited 10 minutes for? Cold pita bread? It was better when the owners were there.

The lamb has great flavor, as well as, the chicken shwarma. I was disappointed with the hummus and pita bread. Hummus– very liquid, thin, runny. Pita bread– hard and could not chew.

I stopped by for lunch and initially was a bit cautious as the curb appeal left a bit to desire! The entry door was very dirty however I received a very warm welcome! Menu is traditional Persian: Mediterranean cuisine! Very basic décor, plastic flatware and self serve for drinks! There’s complimentary hummus and pita! Very creamy and tasty with a hint of cayenne. The food was seasoned well and made to order! I will return as I’d like to try the chicken kabob.

The lamb was amazing and so soft and tender with the Persian rice was just perfect and on top of that had an amazing greeting coming in and made me feel at home especially with the complimentary Persian tea with small sweets bag ended it perfectly if your looking for something different then id recommend this.

I would give this place more like a 3.5÷3.75 out of 5. For $ 20 I got a bowl of hummus, 2 large pieces of pita, small fountain drink, chicken/beef kabob combo plate. Service 5⁄5 — they were very nice and personable. Appearance 4.5 — a little dated and they had not gotten to bus some of the tables but more than sufficient. Food — Kabob plate 4.75÷5 — meat and rice was excellent. Had just enough heat to improve it. Last piece of beef was a bit chewy for my taste Hummus appetizer 2.5÷5 — The hummus was a bit runnier than what I’m used to. It tasted just ok but the consistency was off. Portion was decent. The pita was… Good but a bit more chewy and flexible than what I’m used to. Value — 3⁄5 — the meat totally worth it hummus not so much. I still recommend trying it.

Ambiance? Fogettaboutit Service with a smile? Only when the owner lady is there. Good Food? Always! A $ 6.95 gyro beats a fast food burger every time. Excellent salads, hummus, falafels. They offer beef, lamb, chicken and fish. Vegetarian options are available, too. Cooked dishes are grilled on the spot. Most plates run $ 8 – 14. Bottom line? Don’t judge a book by its cover. There’s good food inside this café.

I’ve come here a couple of times for the good sized chicken shawarma. LOVEDIT. It’s more of an Iranian style chicken kabob marinade, which I obviously love. The quality of the chicken was excellent each time. Note: the way this chicken is made, is actually a lot more lean than your typical shawarmas, hence the white meat chicken. The service is pretty efficient, staff is very friendly. Price is fair! You can def be in and out for less than $ 10 with a drink a person for sure! I suggest you try it out! I know I’ll be wanting to go back soon!

Shish Kabob is a West Houston treasure that doesn’t get the attention it deserves. before i discovered Bijan and Darband Kabob, this was my spot when i was skipping classes and needed a place to binge-eat and hang out with the car-club crowd of Lone Star college. Its definitely NOT cheap but worth the money. The kabobs are freshly grilled to order, the rice is always fragrant and plentiful and fills you right up for a few days. Seating is fairly limited inside and barely any outside but hopefully come summer they put out more tables outside for me to hang out at. the service is always friendly and non-attitudey which is more than i can say for some other Persian/Turkish restaurants in the biz.
