I was recommended this salon by a friend and booked an apt for 6:30pm. After checking in I waited 30 minutes before saying something. I was then seated in a salon chair for another 30 minutes until finally i got up and left. 1 hour with little communication or explanation is too much for me. Very disappointing in how I was treated especially considering how expensive this place is. There so many good stylists out there! At least find one that is respectful of your time and courteous!

I simply love this place… The staff is so attentive. The tea is delish … My hairdresser Ashley is out of this world…. They have it all here’s.

Hah, I am back to seeing Melannie again because I didn’t listen to her advice about cutting my hair back when i needed to and now i am feeling the effects of it. Hahah one piece of advice if Melannie is your hairdresser, ALWAYS LISTEN TO HER. Haha she knows best and she has a really good eye for what looks great on a client. This salon is in a trendy area but the front desk staff and clientele do not make you feel like you are at a snooty salon.

I throughly enjoyed going to this salon. First the friendly staff and glass of wine to ease stress. Then the attention to detail and attentiveness of Ashley Renee and her assistant.
They listened to what I wanted and made it happen. I loved every minute. Cannot wait to return for my touch up.

I love this place! They’ve always taken care of me and been flexible with me when it comes to scheduling. My hair colorist is Melannie and she’s amazing! «Melannie the Hair Sorcerer». She takes time to make sure that she understands exactly what I want and executes it perfectly each time!

Let me just say, I had a phenomenal experience with SfH&M. I did my research and then emailed Melannie for a free consultation. She was very prompt to answer my questions and understood exactly what I wanted from the get-​go. Booking was quick and hassle free. When I got to the salon, the staff was very polite and friendly. They offered beverages (tea, water, soda or wine) while I waited. That wasn’t the best part! After fighting with Houston traffic to make it in time for my appointment, I felt very tense. Melannie helped me relax with aroma therapy and a quick massage :) I felt at ease for the rest of my time there. Melannie took time to check and make sure everything looked as it should. My hair has serious orange and red undertones so she made sure to get rid of the brassiness. Everything came out exactly as I envisioned it. I am very pleased with my results and will definitely be back!

I don’t trust just anybody with my hair. Your hair is always going to be the thing people see first, it’s what you walk around everyday with on top of your head.
Once I found Ashley, I was in ‘ah’. She is AMAZING. You want something you don’t think is possible, Ashley can. Your hair is completely damaged you think there is no fixing to be done, leave it to Ashley. She is just AMAZING. She is my SAVOR, the only one I will ever trust with my hair. I have refereed many people to her after my first experience, like my Grandmother. She has very short fragile hair and as well as me she doesn’t trust many people because her’s can just fall out, but she LOVE’S Ashley.
As for the Salon, it’s great! They recently moved from down the street. The customer service is fantastic, the people are always happy and willing to help.
And as for price… as much as people say «Beauty is pain»… BEAUTY IS $$$. It’s all worth it.

I’m a total beauty care dummy. I’m the type of person who will sit in the stylist’s chair & ask for the same cut. BORING, I know, slay me.
I knew I was ready for something new when I previewed Melannie’s before/​afters of each of her clients. They would give such amazing feedback and there were pictures to support her amazing work, so I convinced myself that I was ready to feel brand new.
Melannie did just that! I went from a natural, dark brown to a caramel balayage. I made sure to remind her that I NEVER splurge on my hair so she did a fantastic job blending the caramel into my dark hair. This transformation happened in November, it is practically May, & I STILL get compliments on the color. She gave me great instructions for upkeep & it has proved itself to last– even with my lazy self to step out of my comfort zone.
Definitely going to make sure I see her again soon.

Solution staff is always welcoming when i arrive! I have never been disappointed with my cut or color requests no matter how weird or picky I am with my choices. I went from no color to balyage, adding bangs, chopping off 13 inches of hair, and your typical requests as well. Always happy with the results. Ashley is my go-​to person and always does wonderful work on my hair! Five stars for Ashley and Solution for Hair and Makeup!

I’ll start with the good. The staff is very polite and scheduling was easy. Unfortunately, my experience had more cons than pros.
Haircut:
My haircut by Melannie was uneven and choppy when I specifically asked for it not to be blunt. I waited for my color appointment to have it fixed a few weeks later which caused me to lose extra inches of length.
Color:
I wanted to tone my ombré to a more chocolate brown and frame my face with a light brown. The stylist highlighted all the way around my head and I ended up with chunky patches of different brassy, reddish, and yellow colors. She did the painting method of balayage but I found it to be too blunt instead of smooth blending. I don’t think there was clear communication during the coloring process. I can’t tell you how stressful it was going home hating your hair after spending so much money and expecting way better results.
Cost:
To give you an idea of prices and avoid the sticker shock I received, my receipt read:
Color & highlight $ 167
Color enhancing shine treatment $ 25
Style $ 53
Total for the worst color I’d ever received: $ 245
They have a 10 day policy to come back and have it fixed but there was no way I thought the service I received (and didn’t ask for!) was worth $ 245. If I wanted someone else to do it, I would have to pay full price AGAIN! They do not do refunds.

Thankfully, I had my hair fixed somewhere else for much less.

SfH&M has moved just a block or so down Westheimer and is still revamping the new digs — it feels different than the modern & elegant place I had grown used to. Location is smaller but the staff is still great & attentive. I look forward to seeing how the new location is once they’ve had a chance to settle in.
Gabby is awesome — she has been helping me cope with growing out a pixie cut I got last year (at a different salon).
