Extremely small, intimate coffee shop. Loved the interior and how they played Mexican music(Lol). I wouldn’t come here to study just because of how small it is, but catching up with one friend would be ideal. The coffee was sooooo creamy and good. It wasn’t too hot either. It has a parking lot, but sometimes can get crowded. Everyone knows that in this part of Houston you have to park on the side of the street most of the time though. The employees were very sweet and helpful. Overall, great place to catch up with a person one-on-one.

the best coffee in Houston I’ve pretty much had coffee all over houston. this quality of coffee is superb. they make there own syrups and the flavors you can’t find at a lot of other coffee shops. they have beers as well and some things to munch on. downside not a good place to study or read. it’s a small little place so there are limited tables and chairs but if you just want coffee on the go it’s awesome also its probably the most expensive coffee in town but you get what you pay for. it’s awesome… go try it out!

This definitely has a hipster feel. It’s nice to get your coffee from a place that is not a big chain. My barista was super cool and friendly which fit in with the cozy feeling of this coffee house. This is a good place to just hang out and read or grab a coffee to go. The quality of the coffee was one of, if not the best, in the loop. Both Blacksmith and Southside are at the top of my list for coffee quality. The only downside is it is really hard for me to drink Starbucks after visiting this place a few times.

This place gives you the college vibe of late night study time. The coffee was good, and the employees brought us our coffee to our table. The employees seem very friendly, and willing to do anything. The location is small, and the inside is smaller, so if you want a good seat to study all night long in you better get there early. The parking is free, but limited. The inside is also very urban, and colorful. The paintings on the wall for sale are cool, but are way overpriced.

Definitely one of my favorite coffee and tea shops in Houston! The atmosphere is lovely and they have a wide variety of tea unlike most places and they steep it correctly! Definitely have to give it a try!

Great selection of Latte especially the seasonal flavors. My favorite is sweet potato in November. However it is not my everyday choice because the prices are a bit higher than other coffee shops in the area. But did I mention sweet potato latte? Ah I did but I love it. They also feature local artist artworks.

Love love loved the place! It’s small, yes, but I think it adds to the ambiance. It’s probably not the best place for a huge group of people but it’s great for getting some work done or a coffee date. I ordered a seasonal latte, the Spiced Honey Butter Latte, and I loved it! The staff is very sweet and I had a great time. I’ll definitely be returning here!

Great tiny coffee shop to take a break. Good coffee and great service. Easy parking in the back. I just stopped in for a quick coffee to go, but next time I’m coming earlier so I can sit and drink my coffee here. Bonus: very military friendly.

I’m just delighted with the baking of this café. I’ve tried everything here cheesecakes. I can not describe how delicious they are. Such tender and melt in your mouth. If I was not afraid to get fat, I would eat them every day)) I advise everyone to try !!

My favorite coffee shop in Houston. It’s consistently good. The staff knows their stuff. It can be hard to find a table sometimes due to the squatters. They also have some good beers on tap. This is the best thing about Houston, at some coffee shops one can switch seamlessly from caffeine to alcohol without getting out of your seat.

I adore this place. Hands down one of my top three places in Houston for a cup of joe. The place is small(but HEATED, thank goodness), so it’s a great place to lounge around and talk to people and catch up with friends. But if you want to study, maybe not. The tables are miniscule and spots are few. In terms of coffee, Southside epitomizes coziness. Deep, large mugs with cute little handles, a foamy pillow of beauty on top of the lattes with some art, housemade syrups, their own coffee beans. I’ve had their vanilla and cardamom lattes and both were sublime. LOVE.

This cute little café is located right next to Uchi, near the parking lot. The café is really small and only has a few tables and I can only imagine how crowded it could get during peak hours. I wouldn’t study here. The tables are very small and awkwardly placed. CHAILATTE I really wanted a cute design because I saw some very unique ones. I guess the artistic person wasn’t working the day I went because I’m not sure what my picture was. The chai was very good and flavorful. It tasted like a warm autumn/fall day. I’ll definitely be visiting again and try out their other drinks on the menu. I’ll be careful to come on the weekdays though because I’m just not sure just how crowded this place can get.

Excellent caramel latte with lovely ceramic cups! Southside has very reliable drink choices. The establishment is very small, but not in a bad way as it is cozy. However, it makes finding a table here a bit difficult. Not sure it’s the best for studying as it’s dimly lit and not a lot of space to spread out work, but it’s one of the only coffeeshops that stay open until midnight if you need to burn the midnight oil.

This place is great. It’s small and cozy but the atmosphere is great. The employees there are amazing and try to make you feel comfortable. So from the minute I walked in… I knew I was going to like it. I am from the Amarillo area and guess what was playing? Amarillo by morning by George strait ! So I went with the intention of getting a sweet potato latte, because let’s just face it… sweet potatoes are delicious and it’s different than getting the typical pumpkin spice latte. Well guess what? No sweet potato latte. :-(TIP: sweet potato latte only offered during the month of November. It is Very delicious from what I heard. So the barista offered me their seasonal for the month(October): maple butter latte. He said I would like it. I was not disappointed! Delicious, not over sweetened !(FYI I’m usually a black coffee person). Next I got a banana nut muffin… It was okay. Nothing too impressive. I was still in shock how delicious the coffee was and I can just imagine how delicious the sweet potato one is! So next I find a perfect spot opened for me to read my article.(Free wifi btw). I sit there and next playing is El Paso by Marty Robbins. So I’m dating a guy from El Paso lol. So I couldn’t help this place was screaming welcome. Plus the barista saw my Texas Tech shirt and offered to turn the game on ! What great service! So I went on a Saturday afternoon around 2 pm and it wasn’t packed. Parking is limited on the outside but there is a parking lot nearby for 1 hour parking. The total price I paid today was about 10 dollars for coffee and muffin. Next time I’m sticking to coffee only. I’m looking forward to another visit and trying the sweet potato latte. Definitely a great spot to try if you are looking for local coffee shops.

Okay okay okay Southside, you get that 5-star that I knew you’d earn eventually. Came in on a Saturday evening and it was surprisingly NOTBUSY and NOTCROWDED and made a splendid world of difference from my first encounter. As with all cafes, it’s usually +1 star on off hours, and –1 when everybody and they mama decide to get coffee. I was hoping to experience Southside on a non-bustling evening, and finally got what I wanted! This place is not really for studying as the interior is dimly lit, but perfect for intimate catch-up conversations with your friend. Plus, their coffee art makes me cry. A sun and moon on my cappuccino? Please, every time. Southside gets the 5 because they produce the smoothest cup of coffee I’ve ever had the pleasure to sip, and no post-coffee sour feeling in your mouth. Southside’s tiny tiny interior can be a blessing and a curse(I elaborated on the curse part in my first review) — it sucks on busy days and is wonderful when no one is there. Parking is also sometimes questionable, but you can always park across the street in the shopping center with the Subway, then walk over. Overall, I’d never to go Southside to get work done, but to drink coffee. And that’s the main point of a coffeeshop, right?

9÷16÷2015 This is a great place to go for coffee. I guess you can get to-go coffee but it is worth it stay. I prefer the slow bar. The folks that work here can tell you a lot about the coffees they have available, but I just get whatever they recommend that day and mix it up between the V-60 and Cemex. Coffee comes in small pot so you really get like three or four cups. I also like the ice cold water. Nice touch to go with great coffee.

I’ve wanted to come to Southside for the longest time, but I’ll be super frank: parking here sucks. If you can get here during non-peak Uchi hours, then you’ll find a very quaint coffee shop(max capacity indoors is literally 20 seats) and a cute little patio. The coffee here is really good. It’s nutty, bright, a little bit acidic. Everything seems reasonably priced, too — their espresso drinks sound good, and it seemed like everybody loves getting… espresso. Each of their espresso drinks is made with double shots, so you will definitely get your caffeine fix for less than $ 4. I don’t particularly recommend Southside if you have work to get done since the tables here are TINY. I was able to fit my work laptop, a cup of coffee, my phone, and a Nalgene with almost no room to spare. I personally like spreading out while studying/working on something, so it’s personally not a conducive environment for that. Regardless, if you are simply reading or catching up with friends, this would be a perfect place! Plus, they serve beer and wine, so, you know. Good times. (Review #100!)

I went here on Thursday night after grabbing dinner at Uchi. I usually get a chai latte, and it was pretty average(in a good way). This place is pretty small on the inside with an outside porch area. I’ve also gotten tea here before and I really liked it. Are you looking to study here? I also tried studying here once, but it didn’t work out with the small tables and small space. I think it’s a good place to meet up someone for some coffee, but it might be difficult to study because the small space makes the volume even louder. I could here everyone around me even with headphones. But, if you go earlier in the day on a weekday, you can probably get some work done.
