I grew up going to this library, and it helped nourish a devotion to books that is 50+ years strong. The library is an oasis of calm, with a beautiful mid-century modern design, the entire front wall a large window letting in lots of tree-shaded light. The librarians have a small town feeling of personal concern and service. Although the West U Library has computers and wifi now, the feeling is still the same as it was in the 60s: booklovers welcome here.

This is a very small library. The second floor is all for children and half of the bottom is for adults. They don’t have enough tables or chairs, so you see people sitting on the floor. Also, it is very loud for a library(kids and adults). I would just to to the one off of Wesylan.

I can’t ever get away from studying for some kind of school or test, I think I’m cursed to be a student forever. The only shining light upon that is being able to track down cool study spots. This library is in the middle of a nice neighborhood. Inside there aren’t that many tables, but my friend and I were lucky enough to snatch up a table as another group was leaving. They do have free wi fi and computers for public use. I did see a lot of kids just jumping on the computer playing games instead of reading. The best part it is a FREE library.

This place is small! It’s actually managed by Harris county, so it’s not part of the Houston Public Library system. If you need to return/check out a HPL book, go to Stella Link one just south of here. Downstairs are a few tables and soft chairs to read, with the middle being a reading room housing the periodicals and PC. Upstairs is all the children’s section, so this is a big plus for families. You can park anywhere near the library, as there’s not a dedicated parking lot. Just be careful of the pedestrians around, as the park is across the street.
