First time here and this place needs help. Specially in costumer service. Young girl helped us, she was so rude and acting like we weren’t good enough to be in that place. Place needs cleaning and organization. Food: we got pan con chicharron ** papa rellena… old stuff. Pollo a la brasa ** chicha Morada and agua De maracuya to watering :-(overall waste of time and money!

The Alfajore here topped the list of best Alfajore in Los Angeles, so of course I had to search them out. They are round shortbread sandwich cookies filled with dulce de leche. They originated from the Spanish Moors and the tradition was taken to South America where Peruvians and Argentinians have made it their own. The Alfajore here has a nice subtle hint of anise. The cookie was buttery but I was hoping for a cleaner taste. The cookie tasted a bit like it had absorbed the smells of the surrounding restaurant. The best part of my visit was the papa rellena(stuffed potato). $ 2. The Papa rellena had hard boiled egg, olives, onions, raisins/grapes ground beef. If u like the potato balls at Portos your mind will be blown with these as they use real potatoes vs cheap instant mashed. It’s accompanied by a traditional Aji sauce which is a delicious creamy green hot sauce.

Wow… Came here for some bread for kids and what did I find?! A fly inside the bread!!! Aside from that all the bread we bought was hard as a rock!!! I’m disgusted by this place never ever coming here again!!!

Update 3÷2÷2013: Used to be very good pastries. The last batch I had the misfortune of purchasing from J. Mendoza Bakery, the alfajores tasted terrible. The things that made it great were gone. This, of course, is unacceptable. Sad to see that quality control is no longer an asset. What is up with these businesses that think that they can sell crappy products, sort of like ride on past waves, an no longer care for their products. This was a letdown. Before I praised their skill, today I shun their alfajores for they are no longer relevant. 2 Stars.

When it comes to Peruvian pastries… you cant get any better than this. Restaurants from other counties come here to buy there alfajores that they serve! Sr. Julio has control of every single little thing he serves which is probably why you will always notice consistency. This place is great and always goes recommended to anyone willing to drive a good 30 minutes. It really is worth it.

Being a Peruvian myself, I found this place to be as close as our real Peruvian food. The chicken is delicious and they have a various selection of bakery items. I highly reccommend you try the alfajores and the chicken. The only con is that the place is kind of small and during summer time it can get really hot in there.

This review is based on a box of cookies a dear visitor brought to our office. My taste buds are hard to please, but whoopee these cookies are tasty! The box she brought us is labeled«Mixto». The little round cookies are my favorite, they taste like dulce de leche, but not as sweet, perfect balance. I believe they are Peruvian cookies. I plan to visit this bakery myself to get more of these delicious treats to share with family and friends, because they deserve the best ;)
