Simply delish. You are better off visiting this one then the one in Santa Monica. You will save yourself some big bucks!!! Same name, same quality, but extremely different prices. Their Mexican style hot chocolate is Devine and it’s a nice place to visit if you are ever in town to explore their Main Street.

My mom brought me here to try some samples to get my wedding cake. I don’t really like cake so honestly I didnn’t even want to try it. She made me try a few and I didn’t like it. Then the lady asked if I like cheesecake and I love cheesecake, She gave me a slice and it was sooooo good. I fell in love with it. I asked her if I can get it as a wedding cake. She said I can pick anything I want. Well I chose cheesecake to serve at my wedding. It might sound weird, but I wanted to enjoy my cake as much as everyone else. Everyone loved it. All my guest where asking where I had bought the cake becaues it was different. They said it was delicious and I believe them because I think the same. Now, when I get a chance I always stop by to buy a slice of cheesecake. I have gone to other bakeries and I don’t really like them. There just okay, but the one they make here is super good. I recommend you try it out if you come here. I give them 5 stars because I love there cheesecake. The lady that attended me was also very friendly. They also kept me undateing and asked me what I wanted exactly and if I wanted extra details on my cake. They don’t have any parking. Sorry! You have to park in the street and worst part is that it is meter parking. Not to mention these are the really old meters that do not accept credit/debot cards. I REPEATTHESEMETERSDONOTACCEPTCARDS! Just make sure you carry change if you want to come here. There is always a lot of people walking around here so you have to be driving around looking for a spot as well. If you LOVE cheesecake than it shall be worth all this. That is basically the only cake I eat and ice cream cake. So to me I don’t mind all this trouble. Oh, I almost forgot. Be ready to make a line because it does get full as well, but they try to attend everyone as fast as possible.

3 times this coffee made me nauseous. I’m not sure why but i gave up. Also, the croissants are not cooked all the way. The dough is raw inside. Very upsetting. A waste of my good money.

Came in for first time and they only had 4 cabinets of bread lmao. To top it all of, they were all about 1inch by 1inch. What an embarrasment. After i saw the small bread, i left and went to my daily bakery where they have endless bread, good size, and just out the oven. Monarcas can suck these peanuts.

Asked for a strawberry and cream cake. The cream was ok, even good. But the white sponge cake was really dry and very pricey for the quality. I would not even give it a star, if it weren’t for the strawberry flavored cream. Will never buy at La Monarca anymore. I wanted to save a trip to Porto’s but I rather drive a bit and get good quality cakes than buy here.

First time visiting the neighborhood, with is incredible. I saw three other restaurants I’m going to try out in the area. A big plus is there’s two hour parking right on the street, and it’s free! None of those dang meters that are all over Los Angeles. I went to La Monarca to meet a friend. Only one problem, he was at their other bakery in Hollywood. While I was waiting, I ordered an iced tea. I was expecting regular old black tea, but was pleasantly surprised with hibiscus mango iced tea. I couldn’t taste the mango at all, but the hibiscus was terrific. The staff was not super nice. More like they are doing you a favor by serving you. It’s unusual for a place like that. Still, it’s a very charming place. I’d go back, snarky staff and all! I’ll be visiting and eating at their Hollywood location next week. Looking forward to it… and a more accurate overall review.

My family and I have been coming to this bakery since they open. Their cakes are really good, and if you are not sure what kind you would like you can always ask for a sample.

The coffees here are delicious but the service at this location(Huntington Park) is awful. The employees were not welcoming and had no knowledge of their menu. There were no tables or chairs to sit. I visited the Sunset location which is the complete opposite(great employees). I ordered the blended café taxco. It was delicious. I’ve also tasted their molletes which are delicious. Sunset location will give you samples if it’s your first visit. I recommend this place but not the Huntington Park location. Sunset location yes but their parking lot is small. Get there early.

This bakery carries really good sandwich bread(«bolillo»). I also happen to know a few restaurants it supplies their bread to in the area. I’m not crazy about their Mexican sweet bread but they do make a killer chocolate mousse cake! They also make other sweet treats that are great and can make petit fours! I like coming in here to get a few treats whenever we’re planning tea parties with my daughters, the pastries are pretty, tasty and reasonably priced!

I get my cakes here for my family’s birthdays & special occasions & they are so moist and delicious! The girls are so attentive & friendly. They also hand out samples of other goodies! I guess it’s a little pricier than other bakeries but I honestly don’t mind :) oh & did I mention their flan is good? :)

The food and service are ok. Not the best Mexican bakery. It’s overpriced for the amount of food you get. I did like their iced vanilla latte.

«Lo barato sale caro»(good food ain’t cheap, cheap food ain’t good) For just a few cents more than your run of the mill pan dulce sold at the grocery store, you can get superior quality pastries unlike any you may have had before. You can really taste the craft placed into baking every little treat flavored with a balanced level of sugar and a moist, pillowy, flaky texture that’s a pleasure to bite into. Mexican breakfast staples like conchas, empanadas, flautas, and cuernitos(croisants) are available aswell cakes and more adventurous treats like Guava flavored cookies. They also have a fair selection of coffee and espresso drinks; some made with Abuelita brand chocolate. The staff is always friendly inspite of the hustle. Tipping isn’t customary in Mexican culture but be nice and tip your cashier/barista. These girls juggle three customers at a time with flair and the patience of a saint.

This place is so bad!!! Service was very disappointing the ladies were talking about gossip while the bakery was getting really packed I saw 2 people go in there and steal bread. I always go to the one in Santa Monica and I thought that in all of them have Chai latte and I wanted a soy Chai latte and the lady in the counter so rude did not know what that was!!! Wtf!!! Never coming back I prefer the Santa Monica location because the Pasadena one everyone there are bitches as well they don’t have great customer service

Pasteles Latinos(Latino pastries). Dropped in to grab some pasteles for work and also a flan for myself. The pastries are good and affordable. My flan was super yummy. As with most pastry shops now-a-days, walk in, grab a tong and a tray and have at it with the pastries. There are some cookies, cakes and other desserts in the displays behind the counter(just as the ladies). My concha pasteles were perfect with coffee, my flan wasn’t too sweet yet delish. Minis are like $.40 or $.50 which was super cheap! My only gripe here was the tongs that were set out for use were dirty(seemed like they just threw them back onto the front trays after they were used). :(At least with 85’c and the other Asian bakeries, they wipe down the tongs and trays after a customer uses them.

A small local chain I wanted to try out. All locations have the same look to them and the same products. A mix of the regular american bakery items like cinnamon rolls as well as mexican baked goods. I have tried most of their items and they are just about average. The prices are more than fair for an LA bakery, most items are $ 1.95, though you pay half that at most for the same items at a mexican bakery. Service is very good, they hire a great staff. I love the mexican hot chocolate and the clean feel the space has.

OMG I wrote a review for this place a couple months back. My first time around was SO bad. The server bagged the wrong ham crossaint(she gave me chipotle instead of jalapeño). I also ordered the iced coffee(which you don’t get refills for btw). The coffee was actually really gross. I know that they pride themselves in brewing it overnight with cinnamon and what not. But it honestly just tasted like coffee that’s been reboiled. SO — - today I decided to give this place a second chance because I hate dissing small businesses. Plus, it seems like a pretty decent place to come and just chill. Despite the clean location, decent parking and variety of interesting baked goods, the service was horrible. My server today was Bernice. So I stood in line as she worked on some drink. And I asked a question about refills on the iced tea. She just blurted out, «NO!» So I wait to order as she goes about doing her thing, thinking she’s going to eventually come by and take my order. But THEN a guy cuts me in line because she’s been ignoring me the whole time. She helps him and he pays. And she leaves!!! AGAIN! When she comes back I order and she asks me questions like«What size? What kind?» etc. So I ended up paying $ 6 something for a small cup of tea and a smallish ham and jalapeño crossaint. The taste: The menu says to pick a size between small and large but if you look in the case it’s the exact same size! So I ended up paying 60 cents extra for the small size. Then I cut open the crossaint and it literally has 10 pieces of ¼ inch cubes of ham, microscopic amounts of jalapeño and no cheese. The«cheese» is more like a lightly spread mayonnaise texture that is absorbed by the bread. Not what I expected because last time the crossaint was the size of my face! LOL The tea was fine. I’m not sure if they do refills on hot water. But guessing by the prior responses I’m going to go with NO. Ok. So why three stars? The taste is decent. You get jipped for the amount of food/drink you get. But the atmosphere is nice to sit and talk. It’s a hit or miss for the staff friendliness and helpfulness. I wouldn’t come here regularly.

3.5 estrellas! La Monarca Bakery es casi delirico! Gracias Miguel R por servir de traductor
