Love love this place. I ordered the wet burrito and it was amazing!!! I am making this my «usual» restaurant. It’s definitely not a daily place because my burrito was pretty high in sodium. It was a soyrizo burrito. It is vegan but it’s not too healthy here. Still delicious food and great customer service. This is an old review. Really sad this place closed. You don’t have too many vegan options in this area.

I confirm what John L saw, Flor de Loto is closed. I believe it is now called Nick’s restaurant. Bummer, I was so happy when I found a vegan Mexican restaurant.

Closed. There’s another(non-vegetarian) Mexican joint here now. I just started working nearby and I was excited to try them. Oh, well. Them’s the breaks in Huntington Park I guess.

This place is really good mexican vegetarian restaurant it’s one of the best I have had… The only problem is that it’s hidden. But they have both vegan and vegetarian options. I really enjoy there soy burgers with fries. And there prices are really cheap :) it’s a must visit if your in the area.

Bookmarked this 6 years ago, finally an opportunity opened up to stop by. Everything about this restaurant — their service, spiciness factor, freshness, value based fair pricing and casual neighborhood ambience earns them top spot for Mexican dining. To start off with they asked if I was vegetarian or vegan. Requested the latter. The salsa was so pure, I could taste all the glorious spices. It was temperature wise cold, but spicy factor HOT. The lettuce was ultra crunchy. Could not remember when lettuce was this crunchy. The brown rice was light, fluffy and tender. The mole sauce on top the tofu was better than any other tried in my 40+ years of being a vegetarian. Brought leftover sauces home. I am convinced that what makes vegetarian dishes taste super duper ridiculous, is finely crafted sauces made from scratch. The vegetables stuffed in the chile rellano were tender, moist and not too mushy. The chile was parted in a way that was most appealing. Split down the middle like a butterfly. Cannot tell from the picture, but as I scooped up the filling it became even more beautiful, the chile itself was revealed to not be overly roasted. It’s flavor remained intact. Better with the salsa or mole sauce over it. My wishes for this restaurant would be to make their tortillas and chips from scratch. That would earn them a 5th star. Also wish they had a branch on the Westside or a food truck that came out this way. Alas, I will be back for brunch some weekend or visit on a Wednesday, when 2 entrees are priced for only 1 entrée(equal or lesser value).

I love this place!!! As vegan it is hard to find places to eat not to mention Mexican food! The food is great just ask for the salt, as it is a little bland after that its very good. They have a healthy menu for those watching what they eat. i always order anything that has the Milanesa in it, it’s soooo good. expect to wait a while for your food as it it prepared fresh.

Great tasting vegetarian and vegan Mexican food and drinks at reasonable prices. Go on weekends for buffet! Be prepared with quarters for metered street parking; non-metered street parking is available, yet seldom available on weekends.

Nice small restaurant with delicious food and an exorbitantly welcoming environment. The owner is super friendly and a tad talkative ;) The prices are very reasonable even though few vegetarians live in the vicinity(and hence few customers). The food is simply tasteful. Go try it! :D

***VEGANREVIEW*** This place has both vegan and vegetarian options. The owner is vegan and prepares his food very well. We had the tofu mole and the sopes. Both were delicious. Very authentic tasting Mexican food with organic ingredients. We recommend! The only reason we didn’t give it a 5 is we wish there would have been more vegan options. Menu is 75% vegetarian and 25% vegan. However the vegan dishes they do offer are great!

Very authentic mexican foods & did I mention vegan? The only bummer about this place is that it’s somewhat hidden from the little downtown strip.

Went for a late lunch today. Only one man working the entire place. He took our order as soon as we were ready. Then told us to take a seat. We were the only ones there for about 10 minutes. He took our order and we waited. And waited. Forgot to put money in the meter outside, so did — an additional 20 minutes. An older man came in and sat down. A couple came in and sat down. And we waited. Delivery(?) guy on bicycle arrived and went into kitchen. He waited on the couple. The Meter expired. I sat in our vehicle so not to get a ticket. And waited. And during that wait ate my non-vegetarian lunch picked up at a nearby peruvian restaurant. Believe me, I am a SLoooooooow eater. I finished my loma saltados. And waited. All for a vege burger & fries and something called a clayuda and a huge bowl of soup. TOGO. They were worried about us at the office. Thought we had gone home for the day. Food taste? Soup was hot and pretty tasty. The other two I didn’t taste. Co-worker was too hungry to say too much about the burger but eat it. He did say the fries weren’t crisp, but definitely cooked. The other thing got cold because too many office demands and no time to eat(due to the extremely looooong time we wait) caused by having to eat at his desk. I tried a bite. Blah. Maybe it’s good hot. Couldn’t tell you. This adventure turned extremely disappointing. Neither one of us has a particularly love of mexican food. We, from time to time, try to change that opinion. Had hoped this would help. We work in Vernon and rarely venture out of the office building for lunch. The HUGE plus of finding a vegetarian Mexican restaurant amongst all the other mexican restaurants was intriguing. Very unlikely we’ll be returning I am sorry to say. I can’t believe they would ever deliver over to us by bicycle, so unless we’re desperate for vegetarian fare and can call in our order ahead of pickup, it’s just not going to happen. For that I am sincerely sad. Huntington Park is all mexican, thai, or fast-food meat/chicken restaurants. It’s a major effort for those employed in the Vernon area to go out to any of these restaurants. Not when it costs us money and puts our jobs at risk when we’re gone for so long. Plus, would it hurt to print a few menus in English? Take some of those posters off the front windows to make your restaurant more welcoming. Very importantly — go down the street to Staples or Office Depot and get some organizers for all the paper mess you have behind the ordering counter. The mess makes your place look like it’s going out of business. Very unwelcoming & a huge eye sore. Good Luck. I wish you well in your endeavor. Maybe if we find ourselves working a weekend in the Vernon/HP area we’ll try to make it to your buffet that the others seem to rave about. Great thing about this restaurant? No blaring TV and no blaring music. That’s why the second star.

As a vegan who works in a very non-vegan-friendly location somewhere between Vernon/Huntington Park I stopped by this place to grab something to eat — which I can never seem to do around here — and was very pleased. I came in at 10am which is an odd time but that is what my schedule allowed me. The man who I believe owns this place greeted me and helped me pick something(I had no idea what I wanted). The soy chorizo tacos were so delicious and the man was so helpful and genuine. He even offered the delivery service but it was via bicycle and my office is too far away. I will definitely be back here as soon as I get the chance.

Wonderful service very homely environment. Once you walk in to La Flor De Loto the beautiful culture of Mexico/Native America is prevalent in color and artistry upon there walls. This Mexican Vegetarian/Vegan food is so delicious a meat eater couldn’t tell the difference(which matters to 99% of the population). From the chorizo to the home made salsa unlimited chips and dip and even burgers and fries. La Flor De Loto is definitely a diamond in the rough. So when you do arrive expect to leave full and satisfied. Wonderful food for people who like good food :) 1 con: parking is a drag it’s either pay the meter or park on the street and streets are really narrow but it can be done!!! oh and it’s worth it for sure :)

A group of co-workers went here to celebrate a vegetarian’s birthday. This place is very authentic. The menu is almost entirely in Spanish, but if you make the effort to figure it out, its is really worth it. They have daily specials for $ 6.99 that are excellent. People in our group got the Milanesa and the burritos and the Sopas with potatoes. Everyone loved their food. The Birthday Girl proclaimed that the ice tea was, «The Best Thing I have ever tasted!». We will definitely go again.

Love, love, love this place! A true gem in Huntington Park, vegetarian Oaxacan food/Sunday brunch buffet, to good to be true! I came here for Sunday brunch and was blown away by all the delicious options, the chile rellenos and the agua fresca with parsley is devine. We need more spaces like el Flor de Loto, in South East LA.

during a recent visit to l.a., my sweet boyfriend found la flor de loto for me – his vegetarian, mexican food-craving, but unfortunately new england-dwelling girlfriend. apparently, i’m a complicated creature. we both had the horchata(very good!), i had the pimiento relleno(bland and kind of soupy), and boyfriend had the croqueta de espinaca con soya(better than my dish). my entrée came with a fresh salad that included cabbage, lime, and other tasty, healthy stuff. of all the food, it had the most flavor. the staff was nice. i am so happy that there is an expressly vegetarian mexican restaurant in the l.a. area. i just wish it had more flavor. c’mon, salt ain’t so bad.

this place is DELICIOUS! Service is great, sometimes it takes a good wait for your food, but thats because they actually make everything AFTER you order. I have their Vegen Burger and its the best I’ve ever had, along with the fries! yum The place itself is a good size, no over decorating. Im hungy for them now!

They’ve remodeled slightly since the last time I went, cutting the size of the restaurant in half. Hope that doesn’t bode ill for the future of this place, which I think is generally good, if a little bland. They’re certainly staking out a territory untouched by any other restaurant in LA I can think of. I’ve been twice to the sunday lunch buffet, which is like a really good church potluck, if you go to a church full of vegetarian Mexicans. A couple soupy things, something with cheese, chayotes and potatoes stuffed with, uh, potatoes and chayotes, frijoles charro and brown rice, four aguas frescas, and a couple desserts. Seriously: it’s a mexican buffet without chips. Would that Quetzalcoatl should smite down such a monstrosity. On the other hand, it scores a big win in an area which has been a long-standing gripe of mine concerning Mexican eateries(especially in contrast to Chinese ones), which is that they never seem to cook any vegetables. It’s always about the proteins: beans, cheese, and meat for everybody else. Sometimes meat for me, too, depending on which spoon was used to dish up the rice. Don’t you people have anything green? No, cilantro doesn’t really count, but thank you for the avocado slices. I’ll just go sit on the curb now. At Flor de Loto, though, it’s all about the vegetables. Particularly the little pale-green mexican zucchini I see great mountains of at El Super. Now I know who’s buying them. It’s the mom who runs FDL. Maybe someday she’ll show me what to do with verdolagas. Oh, and the milinesa torta, ordered off the menu the first time I went? I still want another one of those. Nom nom.
