My fiancé and I have been coming Joanina for years for Valentine’s Day. It has been great every time we’ve come. However this last time I ordered the Veal chop with arugula on top. Since it was quite dark and romantic as it should be on Valentine’s Day and I never have had a problem I did not really check the temperature to make sure the veal was cooked, and it also made it difficult to see with the abundance of arugula on top. I had a small portion after appetizers and I’m glad that was all I ate. Went home and was up half the night with stomach pains. Opened the leftovers today to make for dinner tonight and turns out the veal chop was extremely undercooked. Now I know why I had stomach pains all night! I am disappointed, but can’t bad mouth the place because it’s only the first time. Next time I will just remember to check before I eat!

Myself and a close friend of mine just recently hosted a bridal shower here. The food, service and ambiance was exceptional. All the guest were raving about the place. I would highly suggest this place for anyone having a party or just wanting to share a special moment. Before I left I made a reservation for my family and I to have dinner there for another night.

This place is incredible. Romantic, classy, quiet, and well-kept. It’s decorated like little Italy and it serves amazing food. Pricey, but you get what you pay for. The eggplant is great for an appetizer and I always get the Pollo Valdostano… it is out of this world!!! Always great service, for the most part. Highly recommended… and it is NOT a place for children so if you’re reading this and thinking about bringing your kids for a nice dinner… Don’t do it!!!

Went to Joanina with a large group — 2 table of 5⁄6 each and it was very easy. We were promptly seated. Specials were explained very well and and questions answered. Food arrived in short order and to specifications. Very nice array of Italian wines, some from the smaller producers that you would not find in most wine stores and as surely not available by the glass any other restaurants that I have been to. I specially loved the cheese plate special from Lombardia, New England and France with a Truffle Honey… fantastic.

Nice looking Tuscan rustic style decoration. Service was professional. Food was very good. They start out with a nice breadbasket including freshly baked garlic knots. I had the Scaloppine Rustica, the veal was tender and the sauce was delicious. There were 2 or 3 nice pieces of artichoke and mushrooms included in the dish. Wine by the glass is reasonable and generous. They also have a nice size wine list.

Stopped in for lunch midweek and were immediately struck by just how pretty the restaurant is on the inside. It’s like stepping into a painting of a Tuscan villa in the countryside, and we almost felt like we were sitting outside. The service was friendly and professional, and the food and wine terrific. The mussels and baby clams appetizer in tomato, basil, and garlic really set the tone. The broth is delicious, garlicky and rich, and the serving plentiful, which somewhat made up for the small mussels and tiny clams. Together with the delicious bread and oil placed on the table, we were pretty full before we even got our entrees. I ordered the breaded and pan fried pork chop covered in arugula, cherry tomatoes, lemon vinegarette, and shaved Parmesan, with potatoes on the side. The pork chop was extraordinarily tasty, but I could have used a bit more of the dressing drizzled over the arugula and tomatoes for some tartness and to distinguish it from the chop and potatoes. My wife had the balsamic shrimp and artichoke heart salad with lemon vinegarette and enjoyed it. Both of us took home some of our dishes. We really look forward to going again, but next time for dinner.

A slice of Tuscany right on one of Huntington’s main thoroughfares, Joanina is a delightful little spot with food as delectable and appealing as its fine décor. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I have to say that the restaurant’s ambiance certainly enhances the dining experience! Though the menu was quite extensive, along with my friend, I decided to order one of the brick oven pizzas. The pizza was savory and large(I had to take half of it home). I would definitely dine here again!

Not sure why I haven’t gotten around to reviewing this place yet. Restaurant Joanina is a not so hidden gem in Huntington village. The Tuscan décor is a little over the top, but I enjoy it. The staff is super friendly and the service is always top notch. I even love the adorable they own next door which has some of the most amazing moscato I’ve ever had. But the real star is the food. Everything I’ve ever ordered from Joanina had been delicious! I especially love the gnocchi. They tend to get crowded, so reservations are definitely recommended.

I have been to Joanina several times and it has never disappointed. I really like the décor and the servers/management are always very attentive. The wine list is also solid. The appetizers and pizzas are great to start. Especially the calamari, eggplant, and mushroom pizza. Haven’t had the cheese plate but that could be something I try in the future. For entrees, the chicken scarpriello and lamb chops are my favorites. I usually get either of these, so I do not have much to say about the other options(I have tasted a special veal ravioli dish that I also found to be awesome). Overall, I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this restaurant and look forward to eating there each and every time!

The food here is atrocious! The gnocchi must have been from a bag and the sauce was bland and watery. The mozzarella on top was equally bland. All of the cheeses I had were weak — including those on the cheese board. The pollo al forno was really disappointing. Dry, without any flavor of garlic or Rosemary. Standard mashed potatoes and flavorless carrots/green beans accompanied it. It’s what I would expect from a bad catering hall. The service was fine. Many attentive people eager to fill water and take plates.

It’s a five all the way. Delicate food, sometimes I find with Italian food it tends to get too busy. Each dish was elegant with finesse. Appetizers, Veal Parm, Carmel Cheesecake… Lovely Red Tuscan Vino –again LI, in a mini snow week night winter weather watch — full house here !

Second time I’ve been there with my beau and I have nothing but great things to say about this place. It’s beautifully decorated, warm and cozy and classy. We sat by the fireplace and the though my boyfriend thought it was too warm, I loved the cozy feeling. The service is friendly and attentive. They have a great selection of wine. The best part? The food!!! So flavorful! I had the ravioli last time and the fusilli this time and both times My taste buds were delighted! I love garlic, so the fusilli with artichokes and shrimp just hit the spot! Had a pumpkin cheesecake to end it and it was delicious! Definitely wanna come and try out the rest of their menu!

Came here on a Friday night with my sister. Perfect, perfect date night atmosphere. Candle lit tables, incredibly kind staff. We had wine(Merlot for me — divine, Rose for my sister — a little too sweet) and appetizers. We ordered the Fried Calamari, which was just OK — but what made them stand out was the marinara dipping sauce. It had so many red pepper flakes and added some nice heat. But overall, just OK. Then we ordered the special: A Burrata dish with sliced tomatoes, red pepper and prosciutto. THEBURRATA. It made everything just heavenly. If they offer this special, and you’re thinking about the Caprese Salad — get this instead. You will not ever in all your life be sorry about the Burrata.

Solid 4.5* bordering 5* experience for dinner. Huntington Village has some amazing choices these days, and this homey little gem is one of the best. My guy asked what I wanted for dinner and my only request was«kinda romantic and date-y with great food.» Great pick, babe. There’s an adjacent wine store, the restaurant is decorated in psuedo Italian kitsch — think abundance of artificial flowers, Roman-esque statues, etc. –ADHD was on overdrive! The servers were truly warm and friendly, the waitress patient with my obsessive need to rethink orders; and the busboy kept up with our water. My guy loved the garlic knots and his Linguine with White Clam Sauce was a delicious and generous portion. The pistachio encrusted salmon was cooked to the medium rare I’d requested and enough for a snack after. We were not in the mood for dessert, but he’s been there many times and says everything is good. The fact that they offer a Pre Fixe and A La Carte menus, full bar and an impressive wine list just makes me crush on this little café on Gerard Street even more. Oh, and ladies are handed a pink rose upon leaving = very sweet gesture. Perfect date night spot.
