We were there for Valentine’s day. The food was excellent, the staff was great. The music selection was lovely. The place was empty, probably because the inclement weather, it was below zero. Unfortunately the temperature of the place was very cold too. which it was disappointing making it hard to enjoy the full eating experience. I rate this place a 3.0

This was a GREAT find! Delicious chicken mofongo was made to perfection. Service was friendly. One thing I really appreciated is that when a member of our party told the waitress that she had a dairy allergy, she went out back and returned with the cook who personally reviewed the menu with the person with the allergy to advise her on the best dishes that were 100% dairy free. Also, it is a very nice looking and clean restaurant.

We went there for lunch on a Sunday with our two kids. It was actually nice because it was on the quiet side that day. I had the fried pork skin mofongo which was delicious. We had the beef turnover, paella, and beef stew(kids shared). Everything was delicious. The owner came to talk to us and told us that his wife is the cook. She also made Tres Leches and Vanilla flan which, of course, we had to try. It was a nice way to finish our meal! I will have to come back for the oxtail stew.

Food was good, found it to be a bit expensive. The sweet plantains were not that great, a bit disappointed.

Ordered delivery from this place on mid-day Saturday, and it came fast and hot! I ordered sweet plantains and they were just OK(hence the 3 stars)… they were a little too soggy for my taste, and I don’t think they drained off the oil before packing them. Flavor was there though. I would recommend that they go from the fryer to a paper towel/paper bag to drain some of the excess oil before placing them into a to-go container which can burn and cause toxins to get into the food. :) The Oxtails were amazingly tender, which is a relief. There’s nothing worse than ordering tough oxtails that do not fall off the bone. When you order from most places, especially the West Indian restaurants in Boston, they can never get the oxtails right… either the flavor is off but they fall of the bone, or they’re tough but the flavor is on point. This place had both the flavor and meat on point. The only other downside is that when you order online they charge you way more than if you just call in. You’re better off calling into the restaurant. I had also asked for the total of my order, and I was told I would get a callback, but the next call I got was to tell me my food was here. Luckily, it was substantially cheaper than online, because I wouldn’t have paid the online price.

Food is fantastic. Great atmosphere. Live music and DJs on Friday. Good place to hang out and have a drink and some authentic latin food.

This was my first time ordering their .The food was too salty and has lots of oil. I order fried plantains, meat sampler, oxtail stew and roasted chicken. The only thing I half like was oxtail stew. Won’t order from their again.

The food here is delicious. I have never had even a mediocre meal — it’s always excellent. The rice and beans are magical. The owner, Javier, is awesome. BUT the service is atrocious. None of the staff speak English — I understand it’s authentic ethnic cuisine, but sometimes non-Spanish-speaking people want to eat good food too! They offer delivery, but I’ve never received my order in under an hour, regardless of time of day — and I live less than a mile away. And when dining in, the place is almost always empty, which makes for an awkward experience. Also, if you get an order to-go, make sure everything is there before you pay! But I will say that the owner totally redeemed himself by personally delivering our missing item within 10 mins of our calling to complain.

My husband and I went here tonight. My husband is Latino and we love Latino food. Tonight we had the place to ourselves which was sad because the food was so good and my husband was really hungry. We had beef stew(carne guisada), white rice, a little salad, maduros(sweet plaintains), red beans in sauce, a yuca mofongo con pernil(pork) that was to die for and he ordered rice with beans, We also café Latino which reminded me of his abulelita’s café con leche in Puerto Rico. The sliced beef in the beef stew was really tender in sauce with thin sliced onions and sweet red pepper. I am nto a fan of plaintain mofongo because it can be dry but the yuca mofongo was so good and garlicky. Of course we had perfect service. There were also small slices of the most heavenly garlic bread. We brought home a huge doggie bag. We had no room for dessert. The restaurant is in Logan Square in Hyde Park and is a lovely large nicely decorated space. Parking is on the street and is near the Hyde Park Muni Building. We enjoyed the Spanish music that my husband sang along too. Most dishes are around $ 5 to $ 20, a very reasonable. Wine is by the bottle or the glass which was $ 5.49. Nice to know we don’t have to go far from home or spend a small fortune to get excellent Latino food.

Awesome find! I don’t eat Caribbean food very often, so I was a little uncertain of what to expect. Fortunately, my friends were willing to order a couple of plates and share(given the good prices), and we were not disappointed. The food portions were large and the food was fantastic. My friend ordered the Pollo Guisado(chicken stew), which was incredibly tender and good. We shared the meat sampler, which was easily my favorite — I have not seen such a delicious plate of meat(including pork, beef, and mini sausages) in a long time. The dish was served with skewers for sharing, which I thought was a nice touch. Definitely hope to be back soon!

This is a cool local place with a Caribbean fun vibe. Good food, but you have to keep an open mind as you will be trying foods you may not normally eat. Example: oxtail stew. Interesting item but very good. I actually tried to go back again e following week after eating here and it was closed. The hours said it should be open, but then drove by a few days later and it was open again. I would suggest calling before going over to see if they are open. Also a plus, the staff is really great!

This place looks somewhat dive-y from the outside, and slightly better on the inside. It was pretty empty on a Friday night, but it was early(8PM), so perhaps it picks up later. I stopped in for some cheap take-out, and was so excited to try their chicken mofongo. I called in, ordered the mofongo($ 8.00) and, since their online menu doesn’t show any side-dishes and the mofongo only«comes with a salad,» I asked if they had a side of rice and beans. The person on the phone said yes, and that it’d be ready in 20 minutes. I go to pick up my order, and am shocked to receive a bill for $ 16.00. Huh? They charged me 8.00 for the mofongo, $ 4.00(what?!) for white rice, and $ 3.50 for a small container of red beans. I thought surely, it must be a mistake, and the rice must be something special to cost $ 4.00. But no, it was literally just a styrofoam container of plain white rice. So, $ 7.50 total for a side dish. The beans were ok, not great, and the mofongo was also just ok, a bit dry, and not flavorful. It really needs some kind of sauce to be edible. The salad was just a bed of bagged salad fixins’ with shredded cabbage, that the mofongo sat on top of. I will say, the portion of mofongo was large, and lasted several meals, so that was something! I don’t think I’ll be returning any time soon, particularly till they get their pricing sorted.

Ate at Rincon last night. Our server was very helpful and the food was great! The roast pork shoulder and rice with beans were absolutely delicious. Everyone in my party left extremely happy and satisfied. We will definitely be back.

The food is good. Dominican background for the food, plenty of items on the menu. There is a full bar, no beers on tap, just bottled. I have visited 3 times in the past month and have enjoyed the food and experience each time. I don’t speak Spanish and I am more adventurous with food so I may not know exactly what I will get, but they did give me a sample of the soup to try before I got it.
