Blue Wren Studio

This place is amazing — though I haven’t back since January. I was in awe of Blue Wren Studio!

I found Aynie (and Blue Wren) via a Unilocal search two years ago and can not imagine going anywhere else.
The space is bright and open, with cool vintage furniture and great natural light.
Aynie is literally the BEST stylist I’ve ever been to. I have never had a better haircut or felt better about my style as I have since I started seeing her. She is friendly, funny, competitively priced, and reliable!

I went looking for a new stylist when it was time to dump my old one and a Twitter friend recommended Aynie. I have been happy with the switch since our very first interaction.
Aynie is communicative, reliable, and super talented. I feel like I hit the jackpot – it’s hard to find a great stylist and I can’t believe my luck in snagging Aynie on the first try. She uses an online system to make appointments in addition to taking them in person. She responds to emails. (I haven’t tried calling her yet.) She takes all forms of payment. Her studio is clean, funky, and inviting.
Aynie spent the time to find out exactly what I wanted/​needed and made it happen. She did it for my husband too, who also uses her now. I’m sure the other stylists at Blue Wren are wonderful too, as I can’t imagine Aynie working with anyone but the best.

Needed a cut and touch up for my blonde highlights that would look natural and professional for interviews. Heather did a phenomenal job! She achieved exactly what I was looking for. She brightened up my blonde with highlights that look classy. And the cut is perfect! Perfectly blended layers that look great (not choppy!) in my super straight hair. AND it cost less than other places in town!
Heather also does a lot of hip retro-​styled, fashion-​forward styles (her own platinum blonde is perfection). And to boot the building the salon is in is an old department store that is now full of art galleries! Super cool place! The décor in the salon itself is lovely and fits right in.
Great experience overall. Heather is very talented and I would highly recommend her. I know I’ll be going to her from now on!

It is three weeks later and my color still rocks!

Aynie has been the only stylist I have ever been loyal to my entire life. She is not afraid to tell you her opinion or your style or how a certain cut would work with your hair.
Blue Wren is a studio in Indianapolis like none other. Not only do they offer traditional salon services, but they take it a step beyond by offering a certified massage therapist (that is also certified in prenatal massage), yoga on Monday nights, and photography services by the talented Jammy Straub. You can get so much under one roof!

Wait, wait… the Murphy Building has a second story?! And it’s full of cool stuff like this salon?! How have I not been up there until now?
I came here last night for a Unilocal event/​open house thing and was pleasantly surprised to find yet another Fountain Square gem. The salon itself is really cute — awesome retro furniture, huge white chandelier, cool teal wall. The staff were also really friendly. I had a chair massage from Katie, and it was excellent. She was able to easily pinpoint the areas of my back that bother me and worked out some stuff that’s been bugging me for awhile. I also had my eyebrows waxed by the esthetician, whose name I sadly cannot remember. I’d never had that done before, but her demeanor was very calming, and it ended up not really hurting at all.
As I am fiercely loyal to my current salon and stylist, I didn’t really investigate what services they offer, but I can tell you the woman who I think was the owner had awesome hair herself, which is a very good sign.

Aynie is one of the most attentive ladies I’ve ever had the honor of chopping my hair. It’s almost as if she can read my mind when discussing what I want done with my hair. And from the hair color I’ve seen her do — she is a magician!
I’m very sad that I had to leave before their grand opening so that I could witness first-​hand where they take their business.
I wish them the greatest of success — their innovative minds and dedicated hearts deserve it!

As a loyal fan of Aynies’ hairstyling magic, I have followed her throughout the last three years as she traversed different salons. So, I am pleased as punch to write a review for Aynie and Jammy’s first business.
Aynie is easy to communicate with and always exceeds my expectations. She has beautifully colored my hair from golden blonde to platinum and lavender without batting an eye. Not to mention the flattering cuts as well.
On one occasion, I was treated to a quick photo/​modeling session with Jammy. I was really nervous, but Jammy made me feel really comfortable and it turned out to be super fun!
I look forward to seeing more pin-​up girls and cool styles from this über-​talented pair.
