Cute little shop in Broad Ripple. Gnosis definitely goes for a certain niche, and that market may not include you. It’s focused on toys, magazines and other wares inspired by urban arts. Each of the toys sold there are handmade by artist local and national. And like any art, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. What this beholder knows: if I lived in Indianapolis and had a job that paid more than peanuts, Gnosis would be getting a good portion of my weekly checks.

If you like cutesy/​cheeky toys like It’s Happy Bunny («You Smell,» «Shutup ‘Cause I’m Not Listening,» etc.), Gnosis is a slightly more mature version. They have vaguely Japanese-​looking toys with big eyes and exaggerated blimpiness. The smart factor is upped by adjoining Alias gallery, with its cheap wall art. My favorite is the small canvas pop art piece of rap artist Lil’ John, with «Yeah!» etched repeatedly across the front.
