The Hajj: Islamic journey to Mecca. My Hajj: journey to The Spot. Let’s just drive over to Castleton, and see what happens for dinner. That’s really not something I, or we, or anyone?, would often choose to do. Idea born from a movie start time… so there we are… driving long laps around the mall… mobile Unilocaling for something near we’re in the mood for. Wait, what are we in the mood for? Who knows… I give up. «There’s a place around here called The Spot… I can’t remember if they have food, but there’s beer.» Stranded in a sprawl-desert, beer is food. What’s more welcoming & amazing & endearing & uplifting than arriving to a place where on a patio there’s a guitar guy playing an acoustic version of Warren G’s «Regulators»? Nothing. Within 60 seconds I was handed a ice-cold Shiner & my partner a 22 oz $ 3 draft of Miller Lite. Within 120 seconds I was offered a free burger. Within 5 minutes I was given a free burger, grilled on the spot on the spot’s patio. After doubting we’d find somewhere to grub with the limited 60 minutes we had pre-movie… finding a free burger on a patio with fun live music & cold beer, my Hajj is complete. NOTE: Walking through the inside it’s a large downstairs pool table-driven room with plush couches and flat screens for man cave-ian style sports viewing.

The Spot is what you would get if a sports bar and an ultra lounge had a baby. The Spot has plenty of big screens to watch the games on in addition to pool tables(sometimes they are converted to beer pong tables), darts, Golden Tee and everything you would expect in a sports bar. Where the twist comes in is the fact that there’s an upper level with great leather couches and LCD tv’s overlooking the whole bar. You can reserve a couch for a game and if nobody’s up there, you can just take a group to hang out. There’s a room at the Spot that can be reserved for private parties of up to 20 – 30 comfortably that is literally like being at home… if you had a giant screen, waitresses, a full bar and all the other stuff you don’t actually have at your house. This place is awesome for groups and events. I’ve definitely spent a few nights at The Spot watching games, but I’ve probably spent just as many just laying low. You’ll always find that The Spot has great service and Kyle has really put together a great place where you can come and relax. The daily drink specials remind me of the college days. It’s a little hard to find, but once you get there you’ll see why it’s on my hidden gems list.

I am a regular at this bar for several reasons… great staff, great patrons, beer pong, the patio in the summer, good food, good drink specials, and of course a great owner, Kyle! This place is like Cheers, everybody knows my name in there!
