This place has been closed for over a month but it’s still on thier web site. I go to the one on Sand Canyon now.

Not gourmet sushi but for the price it’s a fair deal. But personally I’d rather pay bit more for something authentic.

I can’t help but think that folks who compare Sushi Boy unfavorably to «real» sushi places are at least a little biased, either by price or by ambiance. It may not be AS good, but it’s definitely good enough, and a MUCH better value. As for this particular location, I’ve always gotten take-out, and the service has been excellent. They always seem a bit short-staffed, but make up for it by working fast and accommodating requests. Having added brown rice to the mix solved all my issues. :) My favorites: Salmon Lover plate and the Poki Bowl(with brown rice).

My sister was craving sushi so we came here, it was 2:20 and 10 min short of happy hour but the cashier was cool to let it slide. She was really nice so we left a tip for the good service and pretty good food. The spicy tuna and teriyaki bowls were really good, she also have us a 20% off coupon for the next time we ever go. I’d come here again if I were In The area and craving Japanese

Not a bad Sushi place, but it should be compared(or rated against) real Sushi places, which of course costs twice as much. This is hybrid between a simple teriyaki fast food and a sushi full service restaurant. They have decent items for under $ 10, include things such as three item bento box type meals for? about $ 8.99. Final score: 3 ½ stars

Just tried the Vegetable Roll(avocado, cucumber, carrots, lettuce) since I wasn’t super hungry, and it was great! All the ingredients were very fresh(avocado was beautifully ripe, lettuce was crisp and delicious) and I could see that they made it fresh right after I ordered it(kitchen is fully visible behind counter). The cashier was very friendly and helpful, and my food was ready super quick. I would say that this was excellent sushi, although I can’t speak for their fish, but was a bit on the pricier side, at almost $ 1/roll. However, it was quite filling and very good-tasting, and the lettuce in particular added some very nice texture. Feels a bit like a fast-food joint inside, but the food is worth trying, and I will be going back!

Very friendly staff with quick service. I come here often and have never had a problem with anything I’ve ordered. Good place to get a quick meal for good price.

The food was average. The thing I didn’t like was That I ordered a combo meal at full price. There was a special for that same meal(which I didn’t know about until I left). They didn’t apply it or even inform me about it. In my book, that’s not an ethical business practice. Just my opinion.

Getting straight to the point. Great sushi, great services, a lot of seats, good prices. Love the 3 item combo.

Not too great, but then again it’s fast food sushi… I loved this place at first when I was only ordering the Salmon Lover plate unfortunately it is the only thing I can recommend. One day I decided to test the waters and order a rainbow roll and a yellow tail maki. The food I got looked like oatmeal. Everything was sloppily put together and whoever made it seemed like they either didn’t care or were new to making sushi. Either way they shouldn’t be making a rainbow roll if they can’t do it right. If you are going to go here order something that looks like it is easy to make is my advice because the workers in the back aren’t exactly Asian sushi masters :(

This place isn’t bad but I never order sashimi. I always order the rolls, tempura, chicken teriyaki, the safe foods. Portions are generous and for the price, you will at least be satisfied when ordering their combos.

Unilocal 2015 Challenge #53 I think I’m gonna start my TL;DR’s in the beginning now. TL;DR cheap/decent sushi at cheap prices. It’s ite. There was an article, I forget how I found it, I think it was on Facebook, and I clicked on it. The top 10 Poke places in the OC. I guessed #1 was Pokinometry. I was right. This came out to be #5 or something haha cuz it was cheap. It said it was $ 5.99 and I was like REALLY? Located in the Walnut ____Plaza on Culver and Walnut and next to Trader Joe’s, Sushi Boy makes its mark in Irvine. Too good to be true haha. It was $ 7.49 for a salmon poki bowl here: P At least they had it haha. Prices here are pretty decent and on the cheaper side. It looks like a little cafeteria haha. There were actually a couple of people that were sitting here, so people do know about it. The salmon was… slithery haha. It looked like a darker shade of orange than I am accustomed to with other salmon poke. So not too fresh. They have seaweed and rice as well in there. :3 Rainbow roll for $ 10.99. Nope nope nope nope. That one was overpriced and not worth it. It’s better at Delsushi and so not as fresh as theirs either.(2⁄5). They have a vocado, albacore, tuna, and salmon on there. So I know I won’t get this if I go back next time. Wanna get confused? They have like 20 different paper signs all over the restaurant marketing their specials. Is it worth it? I wouldn’t know. Spicy tuna bowl is not as good here as the one that they serve as Fukada haha. So wouldn’t get that here either. I do want to try other combos(like the 2 and 3 item combos that they have here). 20% off coupon from the Irvine Company website and 10% with Student ID, so go ahead and use those to get cheaper prices haha. It’s ite.

I know, I know… why would I ever assume that a place that has to-go sushi would even be acceptable. The thing is, I dint usually eat the sushi and my concern is with the service, not the food. They are just unorganized! Every time I’ve gone in, there is some random issue. Credit card machine doesn’t work, out of what you want, etc. They need to step it up.

I did NOT like this place at all. I dont know what people were talking about when they said this spot satisfies the sushi craving. I am not a picky eater, especially for sushi, but I was really craving sushi and me and my friend headed here. Yes, yes, it’s a fast food sushi joint, I get it, but no one said hi when we walked in. The server didn’t give us bowls, chopsticks, soy sauce or anything with our food. They didn’t tell us that there is a 10% student discount with an ID. Let’s get to the food shall we. The CA roll was okay, I didn’t like the chunks of imitation crab meat in there. The pickled ginger was old, it wasn’t moist and yellow like ALL the other decent sushi places, it was turning brown and wrinkly and dry. Definitely old. The salmon avocado roll was falling apart. Idk, this place just kind of grossed me out. Definitely not coming back here again.

I keep coming back! I love this location! The manager is extremely friendly, he always has a smile on his face and that definitely has an affect on the atmosphere. They have a lot of combo sushi plates and I love the way they combine rolls and offer various variations. The sushi is made on the spot and it always tastes fresh. The service is fast and they always ensure your order is correct and that every customer leaves satisfied. As a fast food sushi restaurant, the quality of their food is good! People who complain about the quality of the sushi here need to remember that it is not designed to be a sit down, fancy pants restaurant and if that’s what you’re looking for, go somewhere else. This restaurant makes excellent sushi and I have always been a fan! They offer so many combinations that allow you to try different rolls. I typically call in advance to place my order and it usually takes 10 – 15 minutes, they always have specials too so stop by and check those out!

Good customer service, minimal menu, ok sushi. I got a rainbow roll and a salmon avocado roll to go. The salmon avocado roll had a lot of rice and was falling apart. The shrimp on the rainbow roll had part of its tail still attached and the cut on some of the sashimi looked mangled. Although my craving for sushi was fulfilled, I expected better quality and handling for the place being so small and my bill totaling $ 20 for the two rolls.

This place, as its name states, sells sushi. Everything here is somewhat high in price compared to other fast food but it is comparable to the Mitsuwa food court in terms of price to quantity(sometimes a better deal with sale items). There are usually monthly specials on the window, which I just order for the sake of convenience and it’s a big poster on the window. They also have udon, tempura, and teriyaki chicken, and it is available in a 2 – 4 item combo. As of the month of October, the 3-item combo is on sale. The staff here is much more friendly than the Irvine Center Drive location. There are very few customers here at many different times, including on weekends. One of them delivered the food to our table, but I don’t think that’s standard operating procedure. One will have to get up and get their own tableware and chopsticks. An order of sushi comes with a small Styrofoam dish that is 5% filled with wasabi so one can put soy sauce in the dish. The amount of sushi that comes in the dish is not very filling, though, so one might need to order 2 items to fill up. Although the quality of the sushi is not 100% as good as locations like Gatten, it comes out very quickly so one can begin eating immediately and is much fresher than some of the plates that have been rotating around the conveyor belt for several cycles(though not likely as fresh as somewhere that ONLY serves sushi). They begin processing the order as you voice it to the cashier. Other items of interest at the location are that they have a capsule toy dispenser and some Asian snacks available for purchase if one doesn’t want to drive across the street to Daiso to get them. At least one can eat them inside here, I doubt they’d let one eat the snacks INSIDE Daiso before paying. This particular experience was good with no significant problems and there weren’t a lot of people at the location either so we got the food very quickly.

I love this place!!! Quick, easy, and cheap. My go-to meal when I’m dinnering for 1. I usually get the salmon poke bowl and I’ve tried the salmon lover(can you tell I love salmon!?) Not the best quality of sushi I’ve ever had, but for $ 8, legit! Thumbs up for Sushi Boy!

I called in on Wednesday for a Friday pick up order of 14 Veggie Rolls. The staff called me on Friday to confirm the order and when I would be there to pick it up. I asked if it was okay if I was a little earlier than I had requested. We are working in it now so it will be ready as soon as possible. I was impressed with the size and quality of the product. Thanks so much for your attention to detail and quality. I will be back the next time I need sushi.

I was craving sushi after work so I stopped by this place to get the Salmon Lover to go(see attached photo). It comes with 5 salmon sushi and 8 salmon/avocado. I believe it was $ 11.75. They used to have the Salmon Lover Special that was several dollars cheaper, but they weren’t offering it on this day. The sushi is just okay. It does the trick if you’re craving sushi. It’s basically considered«fast food» sushi, although I must say that the salmon is tasty. I’ve tried their tempura udon before and I would give it 2 stars. It’s definitely«fast food» udon, nothing special about it. The staff is courteous and there is usually a wait, but it’s never long. There is also plenty of parking since they are located in a shopping strip mall next to Trader Joes.
