Great place to get a quick sushi fix. I got the tuns lover and a salmon hand roll. I wasn’t sure if I went back it time to a Japanese era or if the place was just dirty or faded. You can help me with that. I give this place gets 3 stars from me!

I’m borderline on Sushi Boy. We went there twice, which we would never do for a one star restaurant. Still, Sushi Boy lacks in too many aspects to give it three stars. Their employees are… not rude, really, they just don’t care. They’re waiting out the clock and we’re forced to wait with them for the bit of time we spend in there. There are other things that bother me – the fish is subpar, the rice rolls are pre-prepared and soggy, the registrar is covered with signs that communicate with the customer like he is a criminal – but overall, my dissatisfaction comes from the draining spirit of the people. There’s just no joy in Sushi Boy.

Had 2 different rolls but I’m sure he grocery ones could have been better. I only ate there because everything else was closed. I didn’t hate it but, I will never go back.

Lost my business today after being a customer for 13 years. Sent me a coupon, I called ordered for pick up. Got there and was told I couldn’t use coupon for my order(not on coupon) and I’ve ordered many times before with same coupon. Said ok then I’m not getting my order or coming back again. Sad that customer service lacks at so many places these day

The worst of both worlds When you sacrifice quality, price should go down too. But this place is poor quality but also still as expensive as a nicer sushi /teriyaki place. They hide the bad quality ingredients behind a ton of rice and sesame seeds. The service was just okay and we didn’t get much from the cashier when we asked for recommendations. Best item we got out of the two rolls and combo plate was the miso soup. I can appreciate good sushi and know the difference when it’s bad, but this is the first place in Orange County I have ever been disappointed at for sushi. Even sushi in the to go containers at Ralph’s beats this place by a long shot.

You won’t walk into a McDonald’s and expect a gourmet burger. That is the same mentality you need here. The overall food is good and consistent. Always a safe bet for those nights in which you have no idea what you want for dinner. Decent specials but the specials that are advertised online may not be the same as what is in the store.

Love the mixed bowl and teriyaki chicken bowl. The way they cooked the chicken turns it into like a haiyan chicken and not your typical teriyaki variety i.e. Flame Broiler and the like. Ressonably priced, too.

If you are dining with someone who says something like… «I love sushi… but I hate raw fish…» or someone who thinks of fine dining being a 3 course meal consisting of a Cup of Noodles, a Frozen Bean Burrito, and a Pack of Hostess Ding Dongs after a trip back from the local dispensary… THISMAYBEYOURPLACE. Its really not bad… For that person… since everything is based off a California Roll, Spicy Tuna, or Spicy Salmon… There is definitely a finite number of combinations you can work with in this case and it definitely fits those who do know and those who don’t… and for those who think all Asian based restaurants serve Dog and Cat(No Joke… I was told this by a seasoned traveler from Poland)… This Place does have chicken and beef and Udon… So definitely something for everyone to eat… I ordered 1 California Roll, 1Tempura Shrimp Roll and a 3 Item cooked combo of Terriyaki Chicken, Tempura, and Spicy Tuna Roll… It also came with a Salad, Soup, and Rice… Everything to make someone happy… Overall… the food is good and its very affordable… definitely not a place to score points on a first date… but if your looking for a quick fix… or a hit and run… THISISIT!!! So the bottom line is all good… If you normally order these items… You will be happy… Just remember what you paid for it and… Its not Hiroyuki Urasawa of Urasawa’s in Beverly Hills… Its Juan Martinez of Sushi Boy in Irvine making your Sushi… And if you come across the two know-it-all’s from Poland… RUNFORYOURLIFE!!! They know everything about anything… :)

This place exceeded my expectations. I got exactly what I was craving and for a really good price. The proportions are also good! I always have eyes bigger than my stomach when it comes to sushi and this place actually had what I wanted in a combo plate that I could finish without rolling out the door. It doesn’t have certain extra bits you find at a proper sushi restaurant, but it’s a casual dining place so that’s to be expected. I give it a four stars because it doesn’t replace my favorite sushi spot that I’m still looking for a replacement for after moving. Oh! And they have little packets of Furikake, yum!

This review speaks to the following items only: Tuna Lover, Assorted Vegetable Tempura, and Miso Soup. Excellent, considering the convenience and the price. Some of the other items, especially the cooked items: I’m not as big of a fan, and for that reason, give the establishment 4 stars. But if you want some Tuna sushi, this place often surprises me.

Sushi is like sex. What it’s good it’s really good. When it’s bad, it’s still pretty good. This place is different. The fish is not fresh whatsoever. Definitely should’ve gone back for a refund

Yes, I am a fan because of the deals. I mean today 10⁄27 I got their October special of Osaka sushi rolls set which includes 8 pieces of spicy tuna i think and sashimi of salmon(2) shrimp(2) and one tuna. all for $ 8.95. Cheap. the order was ready in less than 2 minutes. Amazing. I needed it to go, so this was a great experience. maybe it’s different when you sit in, but if you need to grab it fast and cheap sushi, this is the place.

Since the Sushi Boy in Walnut shut down, I now have to accompany anyone that wants to eat at a Sushi Boy to this location. Though it’s really hard to park at this plaza during lunch hours since almost every businessperson that works in this area comes here for lunch, coming slightly later lets one dodge the super heavy lunch rush. A quick way to decide what to have is just to get the monthly special on the window. There are usually two, with the second usually being the 3-item combo if one is not a sushi enthusiast. The quality of the sushi is better than a sushi-go-round place, but I’m no sushi specialist, so the opinion probably varies per person. No one seems to complain about it in my party whenever I bring people here. They also have a 20% off coupon on the Irvine Company website. If what they told me at the Walnut branch is any indication, it’s probably not valid on promotional items.

Yummy quick lunch. Their September special is a quick way to order. You get a lot of food and the miso soup. The place looked clean. It should have more than 3 stars. It’s not a fancy sit down place, but still good.

I do believe you can get good sushi without breaking the bank, but this place falls very short. The fish quality leaves much to be desired. There was a fishy aftertaste and it didn’t smell quite right. The rice was pretty poor as well, it was a bit overcooked leaving it slightly mushy. They don’t really use much/any rice vinegar as far as I can tell either, so it’s a bit of stretch to call this sushi. It was mostly tasteless. I’m a big believer of giving a place a try despite reviews, but I’m going to do myself a favor and steer clear from now on. Joey dreams of sushi somewhere else.

I come here for a grab and go, so for convenience. It’s close to work and the prices are decent. First of all, I don’t buy anything from the menu unless it’s a special. When they have specials, the price is really awesome for the quantity that you get. Granted, this isn’t the best sushi you’ll ever have, but for a fast food place, nothing beats it. Oh, and also, when I day fast food, I mean the food comes out fast. Literally you will only have to wait for less than four minutes because they prep the food before you even order it. The ambiance of the environment is nothing special. Though with this shopping center, it’s more enjoyable to sit outside anyways.

Let’s be honest. This is fast food sushi. This isnt Nobu’s, Morimoto isn’t purchasing and slicing your fish… This is a, «hit it cuz im hungry, oh im craving sushi and I cant wait too long at a Japanese restaurant » place… And this places delivers just that. I love when they have the«Salmon Lovers» deal running. And I have yet to have a bad piece of fish. Their combos are a ridiculous amount of food, their kaarage chicken is decent, and their combos come with rice, cali rolls, salad, and miso soup… Great value… so in the fast food industry, this is awesome. All in all, not a bad place. California roll is decent, so if you are a sushi newb… Its a good place to start eating raw fish with the big boys.

We eat at this Sushi Boy at Irvine. We wished we hadn’t tried it. The food is pricey and the quantity is pathetic. Sushi was tasting old and fishy. The rolls were a bit dried out and chewy. Wasabi was serve in a big old tub with one spoon serve it all. This is what they call FASTFOODSUSHI… The lady at the counter was slow and unhelpful. She was clearly not interested in her job and was unhelpful to all the customers. Obviously, they feel that with just workers & travelers passing through, they don’t need repeat customers so there’s no need to treat anyone with any proper respect. Try one of the other businesses, they will be better than Sushi boy.

This place is what I like to call«MADDECENT«. Like, I walk in expecting a ice cold restaurant but instead I walk into this place which was at room-temperature. Don’t get me wrong, I know we Californians are in the struggle but DAMN, AC is needed when you’re serving sushi. Anywhoooooo, I was checking out the menu and price range and it’s alright if you’re in the market for a good $ 8 plate with 2 different menu items. I ordered a salmon lover special which was a salmon roll(4pcs) salmon sashimi(4pcs) and a salmon hand roll. I had to order another small cucumber roll(6pcs) cause ya girl is a hungry one. I paid about $ 10 for this, WITHOUT my drink…(Brought that from home) But yeah, the fish is super decent. I mean, I’ve had better. I wish the whole aspect of this place was better to be honest. Customer service was basic, I didn’t really need anything from them since I got my food to go. By the looks of it though they’re alright. I wish the cashier wasn’t checking my friend and I out but I mean, we are all human and have those animal instincts. TTYL UnilocalFAM xoxo

It’s like the fast foods of sushi. I know they always have monthly specials so I went in and the month of Sept they had 40% off the Osaka which came out to be around $ 7 after tax. *Check their website for their monthly specials Freshness is not the best. Just come here if you’re looking to quickly fulfill a sushi craving but don’t have high expectations!
