Extremely disappointed with my experience here… My girlfriends and I come every week or every other week and would sit on the patio. The last time we came was for my sister’s going away party, and when I asked to be seated, the hostess told me to wait just one moment. Fast forward twenty minutes, and she kept putting me off little by little. FINALLY she told me they don’t seat incomplete parties. I could not believe that this is how they handled it. Additionally, we all come from different cities after work so while my sister and I were there by 5:30, the other weren’t coming until at least 6. She finally said we could sit at the bar — which was full. We stayed that night, but we’re moving our regular happy hour to another location in the area(of which there are MANY). Considering we were very regular customers, I was very disappointed to see an otherwise classy restaurant handle customers in such a dishonest way.

I have been coming here for many years and the staff knows me. There was no room at the bar today so waited on a bar table. Needless to say after sitting at a table that was not bussed and then was finally offered service 15 minutes later once I said I was leaving is not acceptable.

The service was friendly and attentive. The dining area was comfortable even as busy as it was although eating outside on their patio would have been ideal. The lighting was beautiful. The jalapeño margarita was not very spicy but I liked it. The shredded chicken taco was delightful but the other three items I had off of their build your own entrée menu option were so bland it was pitiful. I was warned by my cohort of the«Tex mex» phenomena as she is from New Mexico and it would appear it has struck again. Not impressed with the food although the salsa had a slight kick, the complimentary chips were crispy and the free con queso was worth the price.

Went here as part of a business dinner. I got the ribeye steak fajitas. I would love to know where they source their steak, because it is the best steak I have had in my entire life. Service was great and the guacamole was out of this world. It’s very hard to get a table on the weekends because of the popularity.

Mi Cocina did all they could to ensure my return visit was superb. The waiter understood my special request and the manager stopped by, gave me his card and ensured my meal was prepared as requested. Not only was I satisfied, I was impressed and the food was delicious. Mi Cocina will stay on our frequent list with this kind of service! Thanks MiCo!

This is a bit late(December 19th2015) We had received $ 50 worth of gift cards from my fiancée’s work to Mi Cocina’s and decided not to make the trip to Southlake for our ‘quick lunch’. We were sat at a table that wasn’t even cleaned off yet, and while they cleaned it as we sat down, they left the previous check on the table. After five minutes of waiting, I got up and gave the check to the hostess. I am a forgiving person so I sat back down and waited a couple more minutes when the waitress arrived, she took our order as we looked over the menu already and waited for the food munching on the chips. We ordered the queso and continued to wait, we both got the cheese and onion enchiladas with double rice. When the food finally got to the table it was cold and the cheese wasn’t relaxed on both orders and on mine they gave me the wrong sauce. We sent them back to heat it up and to fix mine. A few minutes later we got the food back and I noticed that instead of replacing the enchiladas they scrapped the sauce off and poured the new sauce over it. Im not a vegetarian so I accepted it and went to eat it. I went and took a bite of it and it tasted odd. But worst of all the food was cold and the cheese wasn’t melted. I opted out of getting the food again, settling on a side of rice. My fiancée sent his back again as well because it was still freezing cold. This caused the manager to come over, and he very rudely accused us of being picky. He told us they wouldn’t make anymore food unless we promised we would eat it because they are wasting a lot of food on us. I was furious, we weren’t doing it on purpose! We didn’t want to eat cold food. So my fiancée settled on a dish finally(This being the fourth time) I was still steaming from the manager, so I wasn’t in the mood to stay but my fiancée finished the meal and we asked for the check. He didn’t even udjust our ticket, and almost made us pay for 3 of the enchilada dishes and the more expensive meal he settled on bring our total check to nearly $ 100. We refused to pay for the food that we didn’t eat and eventually just paid for the food consumed. We left the waitress the rest of the second card, over $ 20 and told her that we didn’t need it back, that is wasn’t her fault but the managers. She didn’t seem surprised. I stopped using them in recommendations around town when my customers ask me for a good(Tex) Mexican place.

I went here today for lunch and had a mediocre experience. The service is fast and friendly and the queso was just perfect, but the entrees were nothing to write home about. I had the mama’s tacos with chicken and they were just okay… It seems to be a very popular option for lunch however, so if you’re looking for quick Mexican food it might be worth a shot!

Service was good– however, I sat at the bar. The food — not fresh made, tin can tasting salsa(obviously from canned tomatoes) — chips like cardboard– oh yeah, like the ones you get in the big bag at Costco. I ordered Chicken Rice soup– how can you go wrong, right??? Well, here– I suggest skip it– Terrible. Won’t be coming here again…

The brief: It felt like a fast food /chain Mexican restaurant without any authenticity really. Went there with a bunch of guys during a business meeting in the evening. Been here before, but for lunch. This time with a party of 8 it seemed all too fast foodish. Just wanted to order a meal by number or picture, not much thought put into the extensive menu I felt. When the food came it was just as expected, plated and all served to meet the demand, in fact mine was cold, the taste was bland and the flavors just non existent. If you are in a hurry and just need straight Mexican, then come here. If you want better, I know there are many other restaurants around that are much better!

I went in yesterday for lunch and the Las Colinas area at lunch time is ALWAYS crazy busy. I’m glad they didn’t have a wait for a table for 6 people. The service was great! The food came out quickly! Unfortunately what I ordered tasted basic. I ordered the #9 two chicken enchiladas with spicy sunset sauce. It wasn’t even spicy and I even added salsa for spice. I gave 3 stars because there was no wait time during a busy time, excellent service from the staff, and the food came out quickly.

You must try a Mambo Taxi at least once in your life. Whether you do so here or at their sister restaurant Taco Diner is up to you, but it is one of the best drinks on the planet. Even more so because one is all you need to get you feeling alright alright alright. My friend and I stopped in for lunch after some holiday shopping and were starved. Chips, salsa, and drinks were out quickly, but once our food came we didn’t see our server again until he brought the bill. My friend’s empty beer bottle sat for half an hour without anyone coming by to ask if she would like another until we were both already finished and ready to leave. Service aside, everything else was great. I can’t remember what she ordered but I always get their brisket tacos. The meat is oven roasted overnight and comes in corn tortillas with melted jack cheese alongside the most flavorful green rice and a sliced avocado salad. In the many years I have ordered this dish, it’s always consistently good(albeit yes, a smidge on the greasy side). The reason I give them 3 stars and not 4 is as follows: –service –steep pricing –the mojitos Let me explain; mojitos are my favorite cocktail, and the first time I tried one from Mi Cocina was at their Shops at Legacy location. My friends raved about how they served them with a real sugar cane stick(which they did and yes, it was awesome) and how they were the best EVER!!! Meh. There was so much muddled mint in mine that I kept getting large chunks and it reminded me of cut grass from bottom of a lawn mower. And for nearly $ 10 a pop? Not so much thanks. If they lowered their prices, hired a few more servers and gave them easier sections to manage(as apparently bad service is a trend here), and fixed the mojitos they would be golden. Until then, I will stick with what I know is good.

We dined here on Monday around 7pm. It was really busy but we were seated quickly. So far so good. However…the food was a total miss. I ordered the brisket tacos that were so greatly recommended by others. Gross. The outside of the corn tortillas were COVERED in grease. Now I would understand the meat and melted cheese having grease and some usual drippage, but not the entire corn tortilla dipped in grease. The meat itself was ok, nothing extraordinary. I know Dallas Tex-Mex isn’t the greatest but there is no reason to have that much grease. My bf ordered the chicken enchiladas, also not impressed. Higher prices for a ‘mod’ atmosphere, but really sub par food. Even the chips and salsa were bleh. After a very long wait for our entrees the food was very disappointing. The drinks people were ordering looked good, so maybe that’s the main attraction. Our waitress was noticeably absent most of our time there. I overheard her and another host/manager talking about how she was feeling ill in the bathroom. GOHOME! She was in and out of the bathroom. I felt bad that she wasn’t feeling well but still was working around food. Management should have definitely let her go home that night.

There is a saying in the restaurant business, «The dining experience begins in the parking lot and escalates to the customers exit.» I rarely base a rating on service unless the problem seems based on policy or the systems in place. I understand the desire to not seat a party when not everyone is at the restaurant… why have 1 – 2 people hold a 6 top? When 3 of 4 are standing at the check in stand and the 4th is parking the car — this is not the time for a greeter to become the Soup Nazi. There is a right way to enforce the rule and it takes training and practice. When done poorly it sours the experience to follow. Food was only just short of ‘really good’. There are a number of Mexican/Latin restaurants that serve comparable food. I’ll stick with them when I’m back in town.

A friend invited me to lunch and chose this location of MC. We arrived around 1330 on a Saturday and although fairly busy, we were taken to a comfy booth and promptly served chips and salsa. It is the chips and salsa that prevent me from choosing MC; chips are too thick, not warm, and basically bland. No salty slightly oily flavor which I prefer, along with wafer thin ones. Also not a fan of their salsa. Therefore, saved a lot of calories by not indulging in this starter. Service by our friendly server was attentive; wish I could have understood her name, but didn’t want to ask her to repeat it a third time. Our drink orders for a frozen margarita with a Grand Marnier swirl on top was quickly delivered. DELICIOUS! MC is the only spot where I drink frozen margs because my experiences with the ones on the rocks has been a fail. But, these were quite tasty! We split the dinner portion of chicken fajitas which were more than adequate for two light appetites. The chicken was grilled perfectly, tender and moist. The sauteed onions and peppers were also tender and oh so sweet. We also had the Queso Blanco which added a wonderful flavor to the chicken and soft buttered tortillas. I could have drank the whole cup of this creamy white cheesy goodness. The accompanying beans, rice, guac and pico were very good as well and a generous serving. All in all, aside from the above mentioned chips/salsa, it was a great meal. With some wafer thin, warm, oily/salty chips and a flavorful salsa, this would have been 4 stars! Why is it when someone else is picking up the tab that you seem to enjoy it more? :)

I’m a fan of Mi Cocina, I always have been. I haven’t been to this location in 3 or 4 years and I don’t really know why that is. When my department ventured to Cheddar’s for department lunch and they couldn’t accommodate us. I jumped right in with«how about Mi Cocina? I’m calling them right now» We were seated within 5 minutes of arriving with a party of 8 well after noon in the madness of lunch rush. Our server immediately greeted us and had drinks, chips, salsa and large guacamole on the table pretty quickly. The guac was delish, I hated I had to share with the table. It was a celebratory lunch so Mambo Taxi’s all around. The drinks were excellent as always and who doesn’t enjoy a mid-day cocktail. I ordered one of the specials the seafood enchiladas and those were probably rank in the top 3 as far as taste; the seafood was really fresh and plentiful. I have never been disappointed with a dish I’ve had or the service received. It’s a place I would recommend to my friends and colleges.

I like going here on occasion because it’s convenient and you are usually seated quickly. I’m torn on giving them 4 stars, but after my most recent visit I realized a few things… The chips are only alright, as well as the queso and salsa. I’ve eaten tons of tex mex and authentic Mexican food, so I don’t feel they are up to par. The drinks are okay, the selection is small. I don’t feel like the prices they charge are justified at all, in general. The environment is good, very casual. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here or wait to be seated, for some reason it is not worth it to me. If they offer happy hour I would go, but only for that. I think their waitstaff are great, managers seem great, menu and drinks need to be tweaked.

Nice atmosphere and good customer service. I’ve been here several times, so I am not sure why I am just now writing a review. A few improvement areas: the chips are always stale and very hard. The salsa is great, but you can’t fully enjoy it because the chips are not good. For the prices you pay, you would think they would step their chip game up. Another area for improvement is the temp of the food. Mine was luke warm. I don’t like cold cheese. As pricey as they are for tex mex food, you would think they would be focused on the delivery of the food items. A major plus is their margaritas are awesome. Not too sweet and not too strong, but strong enough. Well-balanced. Also, their cheese tacos are absolutely delicious. The tortilla soup is pretty good too. I like Mi Cocina and I will continue going there from time to time, but I hope they make the improvements listed above for a better customer experience
