I love me some good churros. I especially love me some fresh hot churros, so when I read on Unilocal that there was this lady on Roosevelt that not only fries her churros fresh but that the cart also have a churros extruding machine, I searched high and low for her when I happened to be nearby one day. «High and low? Wing, you can’t read addresses or cross streets on the Unilocal page or something?» you ask. Yeah… umm… about that… I think the old reviews and locations are a bit outdated on Unilocal.I believe she moves from spot to spot once in awhile since she was neither at the place Unilocal claims her to be nor was she at the spot mentioned in a updated review… which was from 2009. All I could confirm is that she is still at Roosevelt Avenue. I just happened to stumble on her when I was just about to give up looking. So was it worth all that effort looking for fresh made churros? No. The Churros might be fresh but I believe the oil that she fries it in might have been used way to many times. The oil tasted old and the churros tasted of it. I’m not sure how often she changes it but there’s a chance it might taste better when she replaces the oil. Even then, I might only up the rating by one star only. I like my churros slightly crispy on the outside but with a airy soft center inside all covered in sugar. I do not particularly like my churros crunchy on the outside and slightly chewy in the inside which is what I had here. Back to getting my churros from the subway I guess.

I think she re-located to Roosevelt Avenue and Junction Blvd below the 7 train stop. It now costs 3/$ 1. The churros are warm and fresh but slightly hard and crunchy. I expected them to be a bit softer. I guess they are better if dunked in coffee. Cheers! N

So there’s this lady who makes fresh churros on Roosevelt Avenue that my Cubano bf took me to this weekend. Like, makes them. She has this dough extruder over oil, she pumps out star-shaped tubes of dough, dips her tongs in a few minutes later, and then removes fresh, lovely, golden churros. 5 in a bag covered in sugar cost $ 1. She is really good at making churros. I’m afraid that she might also be good at making Filipino boys fat. I can only conclude that my bf is secretly a chubby chaser.
