Popped in here while I waited for the bus to the airport and I was very very disappointed and kind of angry. I’m Colombian and while I know different places can approach a cuisine with a different approach this place sucked. The food was overpriced. The bread was stale. The juice was super watered down. Seriously DONOTRECOMMEND. If you’re in Queens, just go somewhere. You won’t go for lack of Colombian restaurants.

Stopped by this place just today after running a few errands around the area. Got tired of the usual food so I wanted to go for some spanish. Initially, I thought I’d have some actual food and was excited cause it looked amaaaazing but there were no menu’s, no one that spoke english and absolutely no indication of how to order. After a little while of trying to figure it out, I settled for the chicken empanadas(yum), these little cheese filled rolls and a slice of tres leches cake. Very satisfying and tasty but I wish I got to try the other food! :( Also, there’s a little basket of condoms by the exit? what kind of area is this?! Lol at least they help promote safety!

They steal from people who are inebriated. I asked for a receipt and they would not give it to me. They charged almost forty dollars on my card and no recipe with details.

Asco(Spanish)! That’s how I can best describe this overpriced poor excuse for a Latin style food restaurant. I paid $ 17 for a lunch plate that was half mushy rice/hotdog and half iceberg lettuce without dressing. When I humbly asked for dressing, she claimed they had«run out,» and offered lemon instead. You order, you pay, then your food is delivered to your unclean table. Now I know why they ask you to pay before you eat, or even see your food. AND, you get a miraculous up charge when you present your credit card. $ 10 minimum ladies and gents. So basically, I hated myself today for allowing hunger to choose the first place in view before jumping on the train.

Disappointed by this place. I had the pandebono and it was so mushy and greasy, the chicken empanada didn’t have any chicken in it, just mashed potato and the can of manzana was a $ 1.50!!!

I popped in here on a Monday around 2pm. Despite the busting hour I was still able to find a seat. I would guess most of the customers in here were from South America or descended from there. Everyone in line seemed to be ordering in Spanish. At first I wasn’t sure the servers could even speak English. I’m Chinese-American, so I stuck out like a sore thumb, but they accommodated my order, took my tray to a table for me, and even gave me a container to take home the leftovers. I don’t know if the other customers enjoy this place, but they frequent it. I guess you can order a typical platter or you can get a lady to serve up a choice of three dishes from the hodgepodge of a hot-buffet. Mine came out to around $ 9. I ordered the lentils, paella, and stewed pork– the lentils being the only«vegetable» option after potato salad. I found the pork surprisingly good. Their thinly cut chops were pulled-pork tender and quite flavorful. I’ve never stewed pork chops– or had stewed pork chops before. I also enjoyed the paella. The yellow rice was weak,(I grew up in the South Bronx where an elderly Puerto Rican neighbor spoiled me for anyone else’s Latin cooking) but it was chocked full of chorizo, chicken, peas and carrots, and possibly more shredded pork. I really didn’t like the lentils. They’re another reviewer’s favorite, but I found them washed out and flavorless. I guess $ 9 is cheap for such a large portion that I had to take part of it home, but somehow I didn’t feel as if this were such a deal. Still, I’d return again if I was hungry, craving Latin cooking, and in the area.

They dont have any respect to any poeple. I’ve just stop by to ask for using restroom. And she said it’s just for customers, do you want any thing? So how do you know that I’m not a steady customer in mornings before I go to school? So thats why I will never be your customer. And I will prevent everyone that I know.

I just bought 15 of the most HORRIBLE Buñuelos i have tried in my whole life. Tasteless pan de bonos. After 6pm they won’t make any orange juice.

This is one of the many many ‘Abundancia’ bakeries there are in queens. Its okay. Its a spot to walk in if you’re really hungry & have nowhere else to grab a bite, or if you’re really craving Colombian food & simply cannot wait. Took a star off because there empanadas are reheated & some are from the day before. You can tell by the stale corn. Another star off because the lady giving me the food was a total snob. She did everything like it was a chore & not her job. Their pan de bono was really good & cheesy and I could tell they were fresh because they were very soft and warm. The ladies there need to step up their game & be a bit nicer to their customers. The pricing here is off, they should charge less for the empanadas if they’re going to be giving them reheated.

Well, the arepas de queso are poppin’(and WAYOVERPRICED) that’s for sure. You’ll pay) $ 2.50 for a single piping hot cheesy arepa… as opposed to purchasing a pack of 4(for like, $ 3?) at Trade Fair, Associated, C-Town, or whatever run of the mill Queens supermarket you choose to frequent. The pan de bonos are on point too. As for the ladies operating this venture… yikes. When entering, you will likely have to squeeze past someone exiting La Abundancia considering weird cramped 2-door entryway… but I digress. On a positive note, the great thing about lackluster inattentive customer service is… well, folks at the counter are oblivious to the fact that you’ve been chilling in their café without purchasing anything… since you’re only trying to avoid waiting for your bus in the cold. So, if not for the arepas, chill here at least to keep warm.(No pun intended.) Let’s talk CS now. The counter lady will announce«¿quién sigue?»(«who’s next?») but she’ll look through you. You will get passed over(even if it’s obvi that you were the next person in line) because she’s got some pre-existing positive rapport with the guy BEHIND you. I have put up with this nonsense on several occasions because I am just that damn hungry. So I guess the customer service isn’t completely crappy. It’s just that, it’s not extended to everyone. I suspect it’s a bit of a race thing? If that is the case? Well, that really blows. But I won’t go further than giving fellow Unilocalers a heads up. La Abundancia team step up your hospitality game!

Reminiscing about an earlier trip this year to Central America, we got a hardcore craving for the food… La Abundancia is a cafeteria with other locations in Queens. We’ve walked by this one a hundred times without paying it much mind, but we finally decided to check out what they had to offer. The empanadas and such sitting under the heat lamp didn’t look so great, but the choices at the steam counter looked too good to pass up. The lunch ladies didn’t speak much English, but our limited Spanish got us through! A full plate with your choice of a carb, meat, and vegetable was $ 8. We took 2 plates with rice and beans, one with roasted chicken and the other with pork ribs. I also ordered a Caldo con Carne which was a simple yet flavorful beef soup with chunks of lean beef and topped with cilantro. Portions were generous and everything tasted comforting and homemade– just like in CA. Our cravings and stomachs were more than satisfied. I’m not sure why the reviews are so low, but we will be adding this place to our list of neighborhood staples!

Every now and then, I have an avena caliente craving. This is an oatmeal concoction made of cinnamon, cloves, and a ton of sugar. I love it so! They also have chicarron, empanadas, calentado, rice & beans, as well as lunch dishes. There was plenty of seating when I came around 7 pm on a Sunday. Located conveniently next to the 74th Broadway train stop, it makes me happy especially since there is a place to rest my weary bones.
