Come here for the sweets, teas and Samosas! By contrast the Thalis are good value for money, but won’t win any taste awards. The food from the menu is also average, but fairly priced. If you are strategic about what you want out of this place it is a good time.

The best mithai in all of NYC hands down … I’m Pakistani so when I tell you this stuff is the freshest it really is. So good!

Great shop, great sweets, though the place is a bit dingy. I had terrific rasmali, which I adore, and have no complaints. I saw some negative reviews about the service; who comes here for the service? I come to get my dessert and get out, the end!

Returned a voucher we had for here and went instead for some decent Chaat, Badam Pista Roll, & Petha sweets.

The sweets were excellent. I enjoyed the white Cham but it was a bit soggy. The bran-brownie like thing was great! The kasar something was also good. The main downside to this place was that the man behind the counter literally treated me like shit. He acted angry that I chose to order only a small number of items instead of making a bulk order of something. He then continued to harangue my friends who were also ordering for themselves. It was unprofessional to such an extent that I would legitimately consider not going back.

Their sweets are delicious, no doubt about that. However, I can sacrifice my craving for those sweets because of the poor customer service they provided during my visits. The owner is a huge liar and the staff is horribly rude. My last straw was when I purchased a coupon from to use at their restaurant because I really liked the sweets from there. I went to the store on three different occasions because the first two times the owner made up a BS story about how his son manages the coupons and to come back when his son is in the store(which apparently was 6 days during the week; I came back on three different weekdays). On the third day I realized he was just lying to me. I would understand the first time if he just told me straightforward that he wouldn’t honor the coupon, so I wouldn’t waste my time and money for the next two times. Why use to promote the store if you weren’t even planning on honoring coupons that I paid for. I filed a complaint with , and hopefully they will be kicked out of the program for violating their agreement but they’ve lost me as a customer because of their abhorrent behavior.

Hands down the best Mithai in NYC. I drive through heavy traffic on the BQE from Brooklyn just to satisfy that sweet tooth.

The place and sweets are amazing, however the staff are a bit rude at the counter and showed attitude. The waiter staff were pleasant at the restaurant. Also, the customers there didn’t care who came in what order they always tried to skip you. Without fail.

Probably the best Indian bakery in Queens! Everything they have here is magic, especially the milk based barfi desserts. The gulab jamun is really good too, as are the rasmalai. If you’re not in the mood for sweets, I also love the samosa here, and these spicy sesame potato patties stuffed with meat. I would give this place five stars, but the service is really«mas o menos» most times, and it would also help if they had labels on the desserts, so you could know what the hell you’re ordering. Otherwise, this place is awesome!

This sweet shop satiates my sweet cravings for Indian sweets. Right from gulab Jamuns to rasgullas, Burfi to halwa– this shop has it all. Although I am not a great fan of their food but their desserts are gud.

If there was a –ve rating, I would give it to this place. The customer service is the worst! Specially the woman who works on Thursday nights. We ordered some sweets for stay in, even though they took the order the server never moved from her register. So we decided we will do «to go», after finally getting our order we decided we will just finish the sweet and then go out. So we went to a table, the lady started shouting such disrespectfully saying that the price is different if we are sitting on the tables. My boyfriend and I were shocked and didn’t know how to respond. I will never ever come to this place and tell all my friends not to go there as well.

The most fresh sweets(Mithai) ever !!! Definitely the best in Jackson Heights I drive all the way here just to buy some Gulab Jamun. NOONE else compares. they can be a bit pricey compared to the rest, if you buy in bulk but definitely worth the extra $. probably the reason I’ll soon be diabetic lol. their samosa are also really fresh. If you wait you can even get them fresh out the fryer sometimes. They’re always busy so definitely a 10 minute wait most of the time, as for seating arrangement not the best, but we always get takeout. They could make some improvement aesthetically. But I still give em 5 Stars

Another one of my stops while teaching my mother the wonders of Indian cuisine. We got a small box of several of my favorite Indian sweets and the whole shebang was only $ 5. I feel like we were ripping them off! I picked a selection of gulab jamun, ras malai, jalebis, and several of the ground nut sweets that I can never remember the name of. All of them reminded me of my travels to Indian many years ago. I have to admit, I prefer my jalebis fresh and hot to cooled down but they were still delish and the gulab jamun and ras malai were so good I started looking up recipes to see if I could make them at home. I forgot how delicious, and sugar soaked they are. And even though they have probably a pound of sugar syrup soaked into them, they still don’t feel overwhelming to me. There was a line there when we arrived but were were acknowledged and served promptly which I was thankful for. I couldn’t wait to get home and eat all the sweets! I’m definitely putting this on my top list of places worth the train ride farther into Queens.

Some of the best display of sweets that I have seen and the worst of service I have experienced. They had the best samosa in the area till the guy who made them left to go work in a deli. The owner is nice but the wife is rude. Food ok. Not worth a trip but worth a try if in the area. Once.

The moment I walk in, the server aka SHAKTI Bhai(I call him) greets me, with a hug and he calls me Salman Bhai lol. Anyways, this is the best Indian vegetarian restaurant, the food is simply the best. Very reasonable, Indian music on the background, and India sweets — phenomenal

I stop by here often to get their Samosas! Perhaps it’s my favorite Samosa place in Jackson Heights! The Samosa dough is absolutely made to perfection! Crispy, hot, outer later filled with spiced potato and peas in the inside that’s packed with flavor! It’s best with their green and red chutney(green if you like spicy and red for more of a sweet tamarind flavor). At $ 1 a piece, it’s a great deal! I’ve also tried their veggie platters here for lunch one day and it was quite delicious. I recommend trying their Chole Bhatura(a crispy fried bread) that comes with spiced garbanzo beans and achar(pickled condiments). Service is great and attentive. The décor of the place doesn’t have much to offer, but the food definitely makes up for it! They also offer a huge variety of fresh sweets, which I have not tried since I’m not too fond of Desi Sweets, but it always to be selling! I definitely recommend giving this palace a try if you happen to pass by or be in the area(at least for their samosas). TIP: They offer an all you can eat buffet at about $ 7-$ 8(vegetarian).

I mean how do you go wrong in a place like Maharaja? There’s probably 50 different kinds of sweet treats to choose from and everything is delicioius. Basically you pay by the pound and for most treats it is about $ 9/pound. So we just got a dozen different things and it was about $ 10. Can’t speak to the quality of the hot/savory food but what I saw looked pretty great too. Plenty of room to sit inside if you want to come for a full meal.

It’s well known that I don’t have a sweet tooth… I have a mouth full of sweet teeth. So I’m a bit ashamed to say I don’t know very much about Indian desserts. Well… good thing there is a holiday for that! I stopped in here the day before Diwali to familiarize myself with mithai. It was the perfect opportunity as Mahajara Sweets shuts down all savory food production and only focuses on sweets during the days leading up to Diwali. They even create new sweets specifically for the occasion! The result was an amazing display of treats which literally started at the entrance, and ended at the back of the store. Ordering was a bit hectic as everyone was jammed in there making their holiday purchases, but the staff was fast and they offered complimentary chai and samples to those who were waiting! I made a mixed 1lb. box by picking out what looked most tempting to me and ended up with an assortment of burfi, cham cham, halwa, malai jamuns, and gajrela. Sweet and so pretty! I can’t say which I enjoyed most as they were all equally enjoyable and different. And for $ 10($ 9 with $ 1 donation), I’d say it was a worthwhile learning experience.
