Just had an incredible dinner here… The lamb is superb, as is the Chicken Frangelico… from the bread to the salads, the meal was a delight. To top it off, the server was a 10! Don’t miss this treat when you visit Jackson.

We ate here on our second night in Jackson after going to Rendezvous the first night. That set the bar pretty high but Blue Lion was pretty close. I had the elk — very good. My wife really enjoyed the halibut. Prices look a bit high but with a salad included, you don’t need to spend a fortune. Street parking near the restaurant seems to be pretty available so that’s nice in the very busy Jackson core.

Delightful dinner stop with rack of lamb specialty. Staff was well trained and helpful. I hope to come back soon.

Made reservations and was seated at a small table in an isolated corner at the top of the stairs. Decided to eat elsewhere as there were no other tables available

We have been in Jackson Hole for 9 days and eaten at about 12 diferent lunch and dinner venues, ranging from cheap Mexican food to The Granary. We were sorely disappointed in our Blue Lion dinner. We both agreed it was the least good food of ANY restaurant we ate at in the area. The ambience was nice and private. The service was fine. The duck cakes were very good. But my Beef Tenderloin au Blue(spelling?) was a big fail: tasteless meat and a crab cream sauce that was much more like a dark goulash than a cream sauce. My date was steered away from the trout to the nightly special(scallops), which were served in a very ordinary hoisin sauce and were in no way exceptional. Her rice side dish was not very good, and my side dish of mashed potato was just ordinary. All in all, a huge disappointment to the extent that we would not go back.

This was our second time dinning at The Blue Lion. It was delicious as usual. We had the lamb, elk and mixed grill. It was all divine and perfectly cooked. We had the seafood fritters as an appetizer and they were dangerous. I could have eaten 100 of those little guys. This restaurant is in a small house. It’s is very warm and cozy. The service is wonderful. There are so many things that will keep us coming back!

This place is unbelievable. We had the Green Curry Shrimp which was light and flavorful, the Elk Special Dish(the mashed potatoes were phenomenal), French Onion Soup and Caesar Salad. As appetizers, the Baked Brie en Croute and the Duck Cakes. I definitely recommend the Brie — the portion is not that big, maybe enough for 2 – 4 depending on how hungry you are, but it is very tasty. It’s a cozy, yet fine dining atmosphere, the service was good as were the acoustics. It’s also sweet because they bring out the old fashioned dessert tray. We got the lemon custard with raspberries but they all looked terrific. Fun mountain restaurant with many game and fish options!

Nice home atmosphere Great lamb and bison A bit too much dressing on salad and sugar in dessert for my taste Good prices on wine list but given lamb is a speciality, I would have liked more Syrah, or Rhine on the list 3.9 stars

Lamb. Rack of. Order it. Onion soup to start. I’ve had a lot of great meals. This is one of them. Do not I repeat not miss the lamb. And start with a raspberry smash. We’ve also decided that elk and bison or both inferior to cow. But What are the lamb, come to the brown saws with peppercorns and a jalapeño sauce snap peas mashed taters. Robin in the brown sauce for the mint sauce on the lamb you got a thing going.

Let me take the review count to over 100 with a very consistent theme… the Lion is awesome! You ask 10 locals«what’s the best restaurant in JH?» And 10⁄10 will have the lion at the top. Staff was awesome and the food(and drink) were top notch. My bride stated that this was in her top 5 dinners of all time, but I’m not sure if it was the vodka talking as she said I was hot as well. Anyway, it’s a MUST on your vacation and make a reservation early.

This place didn’t impress me. We’ve now eaten at over 12 Jackson restaurants and for the price and portion sizes I would go elsewhere. Service was slow, food took forever and seating is limited. At a 125 pounds I could hardly fit in the bathroom and the atmosphere felt snoby. My family and I came in in snow pants and we were definitely looked at oddly. The Good: They have a full bar and the mixed drinks were stiff. Lots of tables were ordering bottles of wine, but they also have a selection if local brews. We all ordered the Salmon and it was really good; both the grilled and seared. The sauces were impeccable, succulent and unique. Even the salad dressing was great. Lucky for us we weren’t very hungry because we only received a few snap peas, four(literally 4) bites of rice, and a palm size piece of fish. Bread was served, but really it was only 3 small pieces. If we were really hungry we would have spent around $ 300. All in all we left with a $ 120 bill for two adults and one child to have a few bites of really good food. P. S. I’m not over exaggerating portion sizes. I’m a size 2 and my husband’s a size 30 and it was NOT enough food for $ 120. But like I said before we weren’t that hungry so we were able to appreciate the sauces and fish cuts.

This place is the combination of terrible service and mediocre food. We came at a night when the place was only half full, but the waitress still forgot about us after giving us bread. At the end of a 50-minutes-wait, I addressed the situation to another waitress that we did not even see our salad. Instead of apologizing, her first reaction was: «WEARE A SLOWDINNINGPLACE.» When they did find our waitress, she took another 20 minutes to bring out our dishes. We had duck cake, elk tenderloin, rack of lamb, and buffalo steak, i.e., all the good dishes mentioned in reviews. The small duck cake was so dry and greasy, that 3 starving people could not even finish. The buffalo steak was almost burned, regardless of my request of medium. The lamb rack was the only eatable dish, which was still too sweet for my taste. Such unrealistically high rating for this place can be only explained by travelers’ extremely starved stomach. I suggest the visitors in Jackson Hole to avoid this place.

Nice little dinner spot in Jackson, WY. The restaurant is converted from an old house, and has a large outdoor patio seating area. The buffalo ravioli is excellent. Three large raviolis filled with coarsest ground buffalo over a very tasty bolognese sauce. If it was 6x bigger, it would be a great main course. The buffalo tenderloin was very good, but I thought the Cajun preparation, although tasty, overpowered the natural flavor of the meat. The steak was cooked medium rare perfectly. The accompanying mashed potatoes were good, but the sautéed green beans were not great. I chocked them down the for sale of my fiber intake. For dessert, I had tiramisu. Quite good, and I devoured it all. Overall, this is a very nice place. The steak was very nice, but certainly not as good as a fine steak house. I will have to try the rack of lamb next time I visit.

This was the restaurant that hubby wanted to go to when we were in Jackson Wyoming. He read lots of great reviews. The restaurant is in an older house in Jackson. We arrived 5 minutes early for our 7:30PM reservation. We waited a few minutes for our table. The restaurant is rustic with patio seating. We ended up on the second level. There was a large party on the same level along with four other tables. The service was incredible. Very attentive and several servers pouring water and bringing appetizers and entrees. For appetizers, we ordered the Thai Fritters and Jamaican Shrimp, Six/eight fritters stuffed with lobster, crab, and shrimp with a nice dipping sauce was very good. Very tasty. Six shrimps with nice spice and the mango purée — yummy. For entrees, hubby ordered the mixed grille — elk and trout. He said it was delicious — the flavoring was perfect. I ordered the hoisin swordfish. A nice thick piece — cooked perfectly and moist. We ordered the mud pie dessert to share and was not disappointed. It was a large piece of pie with coffee ice cream, chocolate, toasted almonds, and whipped cream. Perfect ending.

This is a place where I make it a point to plan an annual pilgrimage. At least once a year, I come to Jackson and eat at the Blue Lion. Everything I have ever had is delicious! Is it Michelin star good? No, and that certainly misses the point. It resonates with me for its honesty: the simple delight of garlic mashed potatoes, perfectly prepared wild game, shockingly good seafood and friendly service. My personal favorite is the lamb chop entrée. But I also love the elk tenderloin, the macadamia nut encrusted seabass, the mixed grill entrée, the occasional duck breast! I love it all. And if you go and do not get the stuffed mushrooms as a shared appetizer, well, do so at your own peril. They are swimming-in-butter-once-a-year-splurge delish.

This was our best meal in Jackson, WY. The service was slow, but the food was so good it was worth waiting for. I occasionally try lamb, but never quite seem to enjoy it. Well, our waiter recommended it so I gave it a go, and I’m so glad I did. This was the best lamb I have ever had, and everyone agreed it was the best dish at the table(there were ten of us). When we go back to Jackson Hole, I will order the lamb here every single time. It was so SO good.(My sister’s Elk tenderloin was a close second.) The desserts were also fabulous. Again, I think my peanut butter pie was the winner. Now that I think about it, my dessert was so good, I feel like it’s in my top five desserts of all time. Everyone in Jackson and even all the reviews on Unilocal recommend LOCAL. We tried there also, and the food was good, but The Blue Lion was definitely, surprisingly better.

This awesome restaurant is a mandatory dinner stop when I’m visiting the area. It is a high end menu but the prices match the food in every way. Service is outstanding and during the summer and winter months, reservations are highly recommended(phone or online). More often than not, the owner is walking around and checking the tables. It’s a small place that operates in a building that was originally a residential home in the 30’s. Two stories and very intimate. My favorite meal is either the Green Curry Prawn or the Idaho Rainbow Trout. My other half loves the Elk Tenderloin. The bar area is small but often has live, easy listening guitar music. Seriously, there is no way you can experience Jackson and fail to stop for dinner at least once. You won’t regret it!

After extensive searching on Unilocal,we decided to make this our fancy dinner during our long weekend trip to Jackson Hole, we were not disappointed. We made a reservation for a later dinner and upon arrival were seated promptly in the restaurant. Obviously located in a converted house, the dining area feels cozy and homely while not being cramped or too packed. There is a nice sitting area to the right when you walk in where a few people were having drinks and a musician was playing guitar(and playing quite well at that). As for food, we started with the stuffed mushroom appetizer which was quite good. For dinner I opted for the elk tenderloin and Idaho trout surf and turf, which was excellent, almost perfect except after sitting for a few minutes the second half of my elk tenderloin had continued to cook to more of a medium to medium well. I would have much preferred they cook it less and let it set for a minute in the kitchen before bringing it out. By the time I was eating the last bites they were overcooked. However the trout was perfect and the sides on the plate were all divine though I don’t remember the specifics. We accompanied our meal with an excellent bottle of wine from the fairly extensive wine list they had, very good selection for mid-Wyoming. One of my favorite meals of the year and I look forward to coming back here on future trips to Jackson Hole

I didn’t realize that restaurants had long been short changing me. When you order rack of lamb typically you get a couple lamb chops, but at The Blue Lion they take this request far more seriously. Here you get literally an *entire* rack of lamb. This was much more food than I could take down, though my buddy aced this eating competition with flying colors. Very tasty and a small cosy dining room. No pretension at all, a place that locals and tourists alike would be happy to frequent.
