BEST fabric store! I live in Battery Park and actually rent a Zipcar just to go to this store. The prices are so much lower than fabric stores in the city that I still save money. I’ve been to a bunch of fabric stores in the city and they are all so expensive. I’ve even ordered fabric online and didn’t love it. This place has even better fabric selections and much lower prices. Don’t let the small size fool you. They have a ton from basic fabrics to rich upholstery fabrics that I’ve used to make chairs, poufs, and pillows. The owners are super sweet and very helpful. I ran out of one fabric and the owner let me text him the photo so he could see if they had more. He sent back another photo to confirm it was the same one and even cut the fabric that I needed and told me the price so it was ready when I got there. I literally ran in, gave him the money, and ran out before I got a ticket. :) but when I have more time I just park on the street, there is usually parking on the block or across the street super close. Definitely give this place a try, you will love it!

I really love this fabric store! It has the fabric that I need for my cosplays! I used the fabric in this store to make my Sailor Pluto, Poison Ivy, and Umbreon cosplays and also a part of my Satsuki Kiryuin cosplay! The people who work at this store is very friendly! I highly recommend this fabric store!

Great selection of fabrics, easy going environment, awesome prices. I can’t believe I couldn’t find this before, it’s a gem located in the heart of Journal Square. I recommend either going with someone who can wait in the car if you’re driving or skipping the driving altogether and taking a bus/train ride due to the lack of parking in the area. This place is full of vibrant fabric ceiling to floor, it’s organized, clean and the prices and service can’t be beat. I will now be skipping Alma’s on Central Ave who as of late has been a little sketchy when it comes to pricing me and come straight here. Larger variety, more organization and prices are clearly shown.

THE place to go to in Jersey City for quality fabrics for an extremely great price. The owner and his son are very friendly and super helpful if you ask for assistance. The store is FILLED with fabric from the ground to the ceiling. As a person who is a novice to sewing and fabrics, I had a ton of questions and was assisted with everything I needed. Excellent prices. Warm and friendly staff. Plenty of options! Must go if you need fabrics!

I LOVE fabric! I am passionate about anything to do with clothes. especially when it comes to making my I was positively thrilled to stumble upon this quaint lil shop near Journal Square. The first time I came here, I just strolled around the shop checking out the different types of fabric, lace, thread and various other sewing supplies available. The kind old man out front and the younger guy at the counter just gave a friendly smile and let me browse to my heart’s content. I really appreciate stores which dont make you feel like you are intruding.(extra star for that) The store has a variety of fabrics ranging from heavy velvet to lighter ones like tulle. The stock on sale is right out in front and sometimes it is as cheap as 99c/yard.So if you are a beginner to sewing and looking for cheaper fabrics to get started, this is the place to be! And if you are not a beginner, well dont worry, there is enough variety to keep you interested here! I stocked up on different colors of cotton fabric, printed cotton, denim and even some tulle. There are plenty of other knickknacks like buttons, zips, little patterns for toddler clothes etc and the people working there are always patient and willing to help you find the exact material that you are looking for. The store itself is a little small but it had most everything that I wanted. so I was glad that I decided to take a thorough look and didnt judge it too harshly for being tiny and packed. This is currently my go-to fabric store in the area and unless i find something way better with the same level of service, I am definitely going to be a regular here.

I went to buy some fabric today and they were very helpful. Everyone was polite to me which I appreciated. I needed help with the yardage and the guy on the floor help me decide which size was best and the cost. The only thing with them is they have to charge you a dollar fee on your card if the purchase is under $ 13 dollars(the sign said fifteen). In the end it was a great experience and I would shop their again.

I have to agree with the previous reviewers in all respects. And I will add that Freddie, the son, is going to put me in touch with a local reupholsterer to redo my living room set. Freddie also gave me some free sample swatches even though he said the old man doesn’t allow it. I’ll be back!

It is a pleasure going to this store. The father and son are extremely polite. It is clean in there. The fabrics are nicely arranged. It is a little small, but all you have to do is ask for something that you don’t see and they find it very quickly for you. It is the best fabric store in Jersey City. I am a regular in this store. The fabric is reasonably priced. Nothing is too expensive in there. I sew almost everyday. If the son keeps working there, he will eventually turn it into a bigger and better store some place else if that is possible. It is perfect now. Oh well, I haven’t been to my fabric store in about a week. I would say it’s time to go back. By the way, my sister frequents this establishment quite often also. God bless you two guys.

Let me start by saying, I can’t sew. I’m ok with that. It’s a hole in my skill set that I generally fill hemming tape and glue guns. That said, fabric and craft stores generally don’t feel like a world of possibilities to me. It’s just a lot of headache-inducing math and a lot of me saying«but it’s, like, flat. It’s not a shirt of scarf yet. It doesn’t DO anything, why does it cost so much?!». I knew F&S was different for 2 reasons: The sale stock is up front. I’ll say it again — THESALESTOCKISUPFRONT. No digging under piles of velour in a back room to get a deal. Second, it’s a well organized, low pressure environment. I literally stood and just turned in circles for like 45 minutes, looking befuddled and bewildered and no one gave me a hard sell. The space is small but well stocked. I think it’s owned by a father and son, who are exceedingly kind and polite, if quiet. I got yards upon yards of fabric at a steal and was able to upholster two huge outdoor ottomans for crazy cheap. Bonus: it’s close to Journal Square if you don’t want to fight for parking.

someone needs to review this. as far as local fabric stores go, this is pretty much the best. they have at least 3 of every fabric that comes off the top of your head. the service is meh at first, but if you keep coming in, eventually, they warm up to you. they guy gives a bit more fabric sometimes on good day. above all, ABOVEALL, the prices are the best i’ve seen ANYWHERE! you are not gonna find prices like this in manhattan. trust me! i kept a costume budget for a movie under 200 because of this store. for that they get 5 stars. but decent selection, decent guys at the store, excellent prices! it’s my go-to LFS.
