People rave about Coppa’s ice cream, and for good reason. Imaginative flavors and high quality ingredients make for a memorable scoop. On a recent visit they offered rhubarb sherbet, Belgian chocolate and burnt almond and Carmel with sea salt(a flavor so delicious I went back to get more) among others. Their coffee, baked goods and food items are also good, but the five star rating is for the ice cream and the reason I stop by whenever I am in Juneau.

Great ice cream. Some reviews say«nice people» — I’ve been here a handful of times and don’t see any reason to think they are nice people. Once the man even seemed annoyed that I was there.

Went close to closing and they weren’t busy at all. Very nice employee. Sign said all ice cream and desserts were made on site. Tried a few delicious samples including spruce tip, rubarb sorbet, and brownie stout. All were good. My husband had a float with a Mexican coke and spruce tip ice cream. So good! I had a warmed, homemade brownie with spruce tip. Delicious!

Amazing ice cream made locally with local Juneau ingredients; craft coffee roasted down the block; salmon caught in local waters. Coppa is a community treasure! Try the tangy rhubarb sorbet in spring, and cherry bourbon vanilla(with cherries harvested from yards all around the neighborhood) in summer. These folks care about their ingredients, their customers, and their community. If you work in the Federal Building you’ll be here everyday. Everyone else, make sure you stop by at least once a week … You need that affogato! (Any negative reviews you might see here since July 2015 are due to the owner’s principled community involvement and not the deliciousness of the fare — support your local ice creamery!)

Best coffee and ice cream(all made on premises and many flavors use local ingredients, e.g., cherries handpicked from the neighborhood). Food is creative, delicious, and reasonably priced. For those reviewers who comment only on the owner’s politics, PLEASE. Juneau is a small town and that’s petty small town B.S. It’s not like you notice anything political in the café.

This café is wonderful. I have walked past it for two months now and finally got my ass inside today. They offer a full food menu with veggie options and it seems everything is made in house! They are known locally for the homemade ice cream(rightfully so). Since I’m visiting I wanted to get something I couldn’t get anywhere else… Thai salmon melt was amazing!!! A hot and satiating panini with cheddar, cilantro, onions, peppers, just delicious. They offer a full espresso bar and everything else like tea ad soda just no booze. If I were local this café would be a weekly thing. Service was high school so not as smooth in the delivery or flexibility of conversation but über nice. Tipped for sure. GOTRY

Good for a light lunch and/or coffee. They have icecream too, but I didn’t try any. Their cuban sandwich was yummy and I had a delicious latte. Small, so I can imagine it fills up easily during busy hours.

Peaceful, relaxed. Great place to get work done or sit outside and enjoy the sun. Some comfy chairs, and large, steady tables for posting up with your computer. Outside seating, which can be hard to find downtown. Quietly crosses off everything on the list you’d want out of a local coffee shop, without being pretentious about it. Plus there’s homemade ice cream. A little pricy, like most of Juneau, but good coffee, homemade sandwiches, and the ice cream is excellent. This morning I watched the owner, Mark, deal with a city power outage, while running the front by himself, looked like a staffer had called in sick. While he was serving a series of customers, 3 different groups of 10+ middle school kids came in doing a school scavenger hunt. The kids loudly asked him to pose for pictures, sing while he worked etc… oblivious to terrible timing. Given the circumstances, a lot of people would have snapped. Mark handled it with aplomb. Good people, good food, worth your money.

This place is great! Opened about the time we moved to town last year and is a favorite for me and my daughter on weekday mornings. Coffee, a steamer and a few books from their library. Rotating exhibits from local artists and unimaginable, delicious ice cream!

The cappuccino’s are great, their baked goods are amazing. Had the Cuban panini for lunch today. Perfect flavor combo and not too much bread! Co-worker had the red beans and rice and said it was good with just the right amt of spice!

Bad customer service. Walking by and my son was slowly working on a frozen yogurt in a plain cup. We got cold, so we popped in and bought 2 drinks and went to sit down. But the owner said«he can’t eat THAT in here.» It was the same kind of cups they were serving in. Oh well — next time we will stick to the Rookery.

Cozy, clean and comfortable place with great baked goods and coffee and teas. I haven’t tried the ice-cream yet, but will have to give it a whirl. Remodeled space and a great staff.

Wonderful place offers made-to-order and drip coffees, a fine selection of teas, scrumptious baked goods(both sweet and savory), and the owner’s specialty: his own selection of ice creams that he has created. Friendly and efficient service, beautiful new space with the work of a local artist hung on the walls, good atmosphere. When I have been there, I have seen have people conducting business meetings of two, individuals working on their computers, small clusters of folks enjoying a social visit, families enjoying ice cream after school.

I’m loving this little place. You can tell the passion they have for what they are doing. Everything is made fresh and the house made ice creams are fantastic.
