Dr Rasmussen did an amazing job with my TKR. I’m a 36 year old whose been overweight most of my adult life. I met her at my point of no return, bone on bone, bone spurs, etc. I didn’t realize how bad it had gotten. Dr opted to do surgery on me with little hesitation despite my age. I am recovering great and look forward to sharing a healthy, pain free life with my kids. I would recommend Dr Rasmussen to anyone needing a TKR. I feel she truly cares for her patients and wants the best for them.

My Mom is 77 years old and had full knee replacement by Dr. Rasmussen on January 29, 2016. My Mom has Medicare and Humana PPO which only allows 2 days for post op in the hospital. After being discharged we flew home the same day back to Maui & it was a little challenging but there’s no way my parents could have done this on their own without major difficulty… If we had to do it all over again, we should have stayed an extra couple days in Oahu. It’s unfortunate that most coverage plans don’t provide for more than 2 days in the hospital because my Mom had complications the next day after we returned home. It would have been better if we rented a condo in Oahu for at least the first week of physical therapy to ensure the med routine, progress & healing were going in the right direction. All that being said Dr. Rasmussen is a caring professional that knows knees! It’s easy to tell that she is passionate about what she does and is a real expert in knee replacement and understands how health plans work. Castle Medical Facility is a clean, remodeled facility and the nursing staff are very nice. I’ll admit to being an impatient mainlander so not being able to easily reach or email her nurse Sharon quick questions was slightly frustrating… I’m sure she’s spread thin… I do wish I had been more insistent on getting clear answers as to what the costs would have been if we wanted to pay whatever isn’t covered by insurance for staying a 3rd night. My mother’s younger sister had the same operation in Minnesota and she stayed in the hospital for 3 days… I’d make the recommendation that out of pocket cost per night for an extra hospital day or cost for one week at a rehab facility in Oahu be presented as an option to all outer island patients.

Dr. Rasmussen is a highly skilled orthopedic surgeon as well as a wonderful human being interested in the well being of her patient. I have always had a very active lifestyle(40 years) and suffer the consequences with degenerative osteoarthritis with painful hip and knee movements. I went to her for a second opinion and was so impressed with her bedside manners and her excellent listening habits. She evaluated all of my areas of concern and made her recommendation. She recommended hips first then the knee. She said I would feel so much better and now after a brief healing period I feel she was totally correct about her recommendations. I am pain free and my knee is much better but I still will need to get a total knee replacement soon. I would highly recommend anyone with joint problems to see her.

As you can imagine, I was apprehensive about undergoing knee replacement surgery. I can honestly say that from the very beginning Dr. Rasmussen and her staff made the process as smooth as can be expected with major surgery. The MakoPlasty surgery and the recovery is amazing. It has been only three weeks since my surgery and I am already walking with a cane(and that is only for stability). Yesterday, I scheduled surgery for my left knee. I am excited to finally be arthritis free and pain free for the first time in five and a half years! I highly recommend Dr. Rasmussen and her office and hospital staff.
