Good food and friendly staff. The place is a bit dated, but who cares when the food tastes good. It is clean too. Even the huckleberry wine was tasty. The only thing I didn’t like was the half jar of pickles they put on the kids hot dog.

This place could easily be a 4 – 5 star place. They changed to ala carte a while back and I’m not a fan. The steaks are great as always. Veggies a little iffy for me but seem to be getting better. Great salads and soups too. Great news though, they are now will seat for dinner until 9pm!!!

We are pretty new to the area and looking for a steak house. I read the reviews and decided to try this place. The décor is western and the music Country… so they had me at the door! Amanda was our server… she was great. we had salads, the wine was very reasonable, the ribeye was delicious. We shared a baked potato and asparagus. The meal came with green beans so we could have skipped the asparagus but found the atmosphere and food to be good. We will return!

Food is pretty good here, and the portions are plentiful. I ordered the shrimp cocktail appetizer, which consisted of half a dozen large gulf shrimp and cocktail sauce served in a martini glass. The shrimp were cooked perfectly — crisp and clean with no hint of rubberiness. Very good. The ribeye steak looked divine when it arrived. Nice and crisply charred on the outside, and cooked to medium rare on the inside. The flavor, on the other hand, was sorely lacking. This is a steak that unfortunately would benefit from the use of A-1 steak sauce. I wonder if the cooks seasoned the meat at all when they prepared it. It took a lot of salt and pepper to get anything that approximates the flavor I am used to having at finer steakhouses. The crawfish mac and cheese looks fabulous, but the cheese sauce is quite runny and the flavor could definitely be better. I’m still searching for the best-tasting steak in Kalispell.

Staff was EXCELLENT, we had Rib Eye Steak, medium well, came out well done, and burnt on the outside. Tried Coke first then Pepsi, both had horrible after taste. Waitress more than willing to try a different drink but told her it was okay. Will not go back if we come this way again.

The service was friendly yet towards the end of my meal and after paying the tab, my server didn’t seem too attentive. The recommendation on getting a flat iron steak vs the sirloin or ribeye was ok, not amazing. I ordered it medium which came out more well than I like. The $ 29 meal was reasonable yet not a place I would suggest for quality steak.

Nice to find a good steak house finally, hard to find with it at the end of a casino and the name not facing the street! Good food and good service with everything a la carte! Steaks cooked to order, soft bread and great soup!

Some call this the best steak place in Kalispell. I was skeptical, but now I believe them. Generous portions of perfectly prepared steak. Our party of 3 ordered entirely different items and everyone was very satisfied. The presentation of the meal is really nice too — including a couple of pretty dollups of sweet potato mash. The desserts were to die for too — very generous, very diverse. It’s something of a hole-in-the-wall; but maybe that’s part of what makes it good. Be sure to visit their mini gun museum on the way to the restroom.

After asking several locals in Kalispell where to find a good steak dinner, we landed at Winchester. The décor is classic, old school steakhouse, however, the menu items are more modern than you would expect. My girlfriend and I both ordered the filet mignon. She got hers Oscar-style, which she enjoyed. I asked about au poivre, even though it was not listed on the menu. Our waitress checked with the chef, who said he would be happy to prepare a brandy-peppercorn sauce for me. My steak au poivre was legit… perfectly medium and the sauce was stellar. The menu said the entrees came with a salad or soup(we had the salad… fresh and crisp, with mixed greens, cucumber slices, carrot sticks and a terrific house-made ranch dressing) and bread, so we also ordered a twice-baked potato off the ala carte sides menu. When our steaks showed up, we also had green beans amandine and two plops of a sweet potato mash on the plate. If we had known these sides would be included, we probably would not have ordered the potato… so a little better explanation of this would be helpful. The mash was a little too sweet and maple-y for my taste, but my girlfriend enjoyed it. After all of the food, we had no room for dessert. Service was solid and not overbearing. The hostess kept our water glasses filled. There was no bartender on duty(it was early in the evening), but our server poured a good cocktail.

Was not impressed to start the glasses were dirty, water had floaties in it. service was horrible and the food was not great. I would expect a lot more from a steakhouse in MT. only 3rd time in my life I did not leave a tip. disappointed

By far the best steak I have had in a restaurant. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and were tender and flavorful. Service was great without being overbearing. When I crave a juicy thick steak I now crave Winchester Steak House.

Really poor quality beef. Both my steak and my wife’s were tough, and tasted old. The side dish was like nothing I’ve ever seen with a sticky sauce congealed on the potatoes. Very nice and thoughtful server who was very embarrassed by poor meal quality gave us a discount, but we won’t be going back.

Wasn’t disappointed nor thrilled with the experience. Menu has a wide variety — which is nice. Service was struggling the Friday night we were there and the food was just okay.

The best steak I’ve had in a long time. I was of the mindset that I wouldn’t be that impressed, but I was.

We saw the other reviews for this place and decided it was worth a try. Excellent place with good service. I had the 16 ounce Rib Eye which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. My wife had the 8 ounce Sirloin which she also liked. The only complaint we had was the noise from the bar. It would have been nice if they installed a wall between the bar and the restaurant. There were a bunch of customers at the bar who had been celebrating Labor Day for quite some time and were getting pretty loud and it was only 5PM.

It must be a law of nature that says you will locate every restaurant worthy of a five star review, at least 500 miles from home, We were reading reviews and trying to figure out what we wanted for dinner. We went back and forth between going here or the Montana Club. We settled here because of the consistent reviews. Sooooooo happy we did. Is it just in Montana you can get a one inch thick steak, grilled to perfection? Perfect example of a medium rare steak. The menu is straight forward, steak and more steak, no just kidding, I did see a dijion crusted halibut and a herb roasted chicken on the menu. The atmosphere smacked of old school restaurant with lots of locals eating there. Good sign in such a touristy place. The food came out quick and the wait staff there is 5 star as well, you could not ask for a better set of people to take care of you. The waitress said everything is homemade. The side of veggies I had, was fresh steamed broccoli and carrots, and my husband got the grilled asparagus. He got the chipotle steak soup and said it was easy a 5 star and he is less generous with those stars than me. So, the waitress asks if we have room for dessert, well, hellz yeah after that steak, could it keep getting better? The strawberry shortcake was on homemade shortcake biscuits and I asked if I could have a scoop of ice cream and they not only put one on top but they filled the middle with best freakin’ vanilla ice cream I’ve ever had. Yep, I ate myself sick, am I ashamed, no I enjoyed every single bite and you will too if you ever have a chance to find yourself in kalispell, Montana.

Quality beef in a classic western Montana motif. I’ve been to all the others on the list and you won’t be disappointed here. No place in Kalispell is Ruth’s Chris or Morton’s, but you will get a great steak for a fair price.
