Great flatiron steak. Garlic fries crispy, not oily. Ginger beer good match for many of the Mexican foods. Momma loved her chimichanga. Seating limited.

Food is good. Being originally from Texas I’m overly persnickety about my Mexican food, and it’s a far cry from Tex-Mex, but we’re a long way from Texas. You can certainly get a decent meal here at a fair price. Green chile stew will cure what ails ya and the Coconut Porter is outstanding — very impressive. Open mic nights are fun too. 3 stars for the food, extra star for the coconut porter. If you are passing through Waimea, you should stop in. Cheers!

Closer to 3.5. Tasty beer, food was ok, and space was decent but cramped and loud. We stopped in on our way back to Kona from Waipio Valley. We were seated immediately by an attentive and informative waiter. For about 6pm on a Friday, I think we caught one or two of the last open parking spaces in the relatively small lot. Cousin ordered a beer sample flight, the wonton taco, the fish taco, and the steak taco. I got a limeade and the chili burger. We both ended up with souvenir tshirts as well(sidenote: very comfy and a great fit) Cousin’s beer sample was overall pretty good, but one of the pale ales did come out warm. The stouts with coffee and or coconut infused were very tasty and unique. I don’t think I’ve had similar anywhere else, and if I wasn’t driving us back to Kona that night I would have indulged.(Or if we lived there, I would have bought some to go). I believe all we ordered was on tap, but I was seated facing away from the taps. My limeade was good. Not sure what the island thing for limeade is all about, but it was refreshing and tasted less sugary than lemonade in LA. On the food: cousin’s tacos were definitely better than my burger. The steak pieces in the steak taco were so flavorful and tender. My burger could have used more seasoning on the patty itself and or more of a sauce. The chili was tangy and tasty good, but the burger was basic and the creamy sauce just tasted… creamy. Maybe they could have beer marinated it? :P Their fries were fantastic though– hot, not overly garlicy, each one was crispy. Lastly, I’m going to sound like an old fart for saying this, but it’s a very tiny place. On the one hand it feels cozy, but on the other hand servers kept inadvertently bumping my(6’0″, slightly above average build) knee as they walked by through the kitchen. They did have live music on the patio when we were there, and there were also many locals that seemed to have stopped by after work or were also sporting their Brewhaus tees/jackets.

Soooo yummy! Our family had the caprese salad, the fried fish, a burger, nachos, steak, chimichanga, fries, and fish tacos. Food tasted fresh, and was seasoned perfectly– only the fish tacos were just okay. Kind of soggy and the flavor was meh. But everything else was ono. It’s a bar but there were no obnoxious people– everyone, including the employees were super mellow. We are a big family so we ate outside, but it was a family party type of atmosphere, so we were pretty comfortable. This is some of the best food we’ve eaten on the island so we will definitely be back!!!

I make a special 2 hour drive for this place whenever I’m on the Big Island. The place is small, but alive and the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable about their beer. And the beer is stupendous. My favorite is Red Sea of Cacao, which they only brew twice a year, but when it’s on tap, TRYIT. Other faves are Golden Sabbath, Tall Dark and Mandarin, White Mountain Porter, and Dark Sabbath — you get my preference for bold, strong ales. The menu is comforting — burgers, steaks, tacos, chimichangas, quesadillas, but try the fish bites — ono to da max. Come here, but don’t tell anyone else!

Great prices, nice selection of beers brewed on site. Love that the menu uses a bunch of locally farmed ingredients. Really cool place!

Aloha! I was really really excited to visit this brewery again. Last time I was here was approx 5 years ago(this is my 3rd or 4th visit). I was looking forward to see something fresh and new. Unfortunately this place got stuck-Everything was just like 5 years ago, even more used. We ordered the 5 samples of beer to try. Samples were warm and Irish stout was completely flat!!! Unacceptable in brewery. What I saw that was new, was that the brewery got a little bit bigger thanks to cooling box and beer tank in the back of house. I think now is the time to update the front of the house. I did not eat here this time, but everybody said the food was good. I liked our server. She was very professional and very responsive to some food intolerances of our company. I will be back in about year and let you know how are they are doing. Beer and wine is my hobby(licensed sommelier), sorry if my judgement is too harsh. Mahalo for reading this!

If you are anywhere near Waimea on the Big Island this is a no brainer. If you love micro brews you absolutely have to visit this place. I came here after a day in Waipio valley with a friend who lives near Waimea. The fish tacos were fresh and tasted great. The service was Aloha. The atmosphere was mostly local and super friendly. The beers… drool… The White Mountain Porter is great… but the Tall Dark and Mandarin Stout is out of this world! Maybe the best beer I’ve ever tasted. I cannot wait to return!

Bartenders are really nice and informative. I got the coconut coffee porter which was good but I have had better in CA. I also ordered a fish taco which is made of ahi. It was a bit dry but the sauce definitely helped. Overall not bad. Easy parking in the lot outside. Side note, we saw a 3 horned chameleon outside! tip: ask for a taste before committing! the staff is really nice.

I’m not going to bother posting an image. Well over 200 images posted for this small Brewhaus says something Come for the beer 1st. Food is okay but the beer is exceptional. Drink all their beers … and you will realize this is a really great brewery. I’m partial to the Golden Sabbath and the White Mountain Porter but like also the Overboard IPA. Food is tasty. The ingredients are all local and the plates are well crafted. My only down point is they didn’t offer much in the way of appetizers. Our plan was beer and small snacks. We did get the nacho platter to split four ways and totally inhaled it. Next time plan to share 2 people or less to the nacho platters. Ambience: is almost but not like a German beer garden. I mean there is one long table but the rest are your typical 4-tops. If there was music playing I could not hear it. What I do hear is copious chatting of happy people. Cool. Many people will go for Kona brews and there is nothing to fault in that. Be different and come to the Big Island. You will be happy happy happy

Best find on the Big Island. Not nearly as big of an operation as Kona Brewing but the beers were delicious and the food was OUTSTANDING. We found this place randomly driving through Waimea and stopped for a snack. We shared the black bean dip and chile relleno. Best of both I’ve ever had. Everything was so good we decided to come back on our last night for an early dinner. We split the green chile burger and chicken nachos. You can actually order fundido as a dip for your fries. Holy crap. Amazing. The burger is local gras fed beef and the best burger I’ve ever had(the ingredients all compliment each other without overpowering the flavor of the beef). Beers we tried were Golden Sabbath and Humulous). Both were excellent. This brewery is still small production so you can’t get it everywhere(not available on the mainland) so you need folks should really make the drive when you are on the Big Island. So worth it.

Amazing food!!! We are making the drive from Kona to Hilo today and heard about this place from a lady at the volcano winery. She recommended if we can stop there at some point to do so. Steak Chimichanga — Fried burrito with steak. Served on a bed of rice with guac, salsa, and sour cream. DELICIOUS. DOIT. Wonton taco with fish, and pork lettuce tacos — these were great as well. They come with a spicy aioli that we ordered on the side as well and I dipped my burrito in. That sauce was a great addition! If you like beer, be sure to get the flight. It’s 7 bucks and they have good flavor and variety. My boyfriend’s favorite beer was the halfling. It’s a session IPA. Service here is great(our server was Jenna). Our food came out at lightning speed and I love that you can seat yourself. Nice outdoor seating. One thing about this place is they apparently have free wifi, but I couldn’t get the password to work on any of the networks.

Big Island Brewer could use with some more square footage, and certainly more parking, but service was friendly and the beer was delicious. The green chili burger had a wonderfully flavored pattie, complete with onion, but I felt it was missing some sauce to kick it up a few notches. Well worth the trip for us.

We came here for the beer only. We got two flights which almost got us all of the different beers they were serving at the time. The beers were ok, however there were two that stood out, the mountain porter which has a strong delightful coffee flavour and the Red Sea of cacao which has a nice chocolate finish. Definitely try those out.

My brother’s a beer dude and we were driving around the northern part of the island, so we stopped here for dinner on the way home. We had a FANTASTIC time. It was raining, but the covered patio kept us dry enough. The beer was good, and some of the food was great, especially the kung pao macadamia nuts. I had the carnitas nachos, and while they weren’t what I was expecting, they were awesome. The service was delightful. Our first round of drinks hit us hard with the empty stomachs and altitude, and our server(Olga) laughed with us instead of hating us for being rowdy after one beer at 5pm. She and the other staff were kind and patient as we picked out souvenirs. If I ever make it back to the Big Island, I will definitely go back.

I’ve been coming here every other weekend since I moved here. It’s kinda the perfect place to go after a crazy hike on the island! The food isn’t the best, but it’s good enough and they have a great selection of beer. Fish tacos are probably my favorite here. Super fresh and well stuffed. The Black and Bleu burger is delicious. It’s a giant serving of grass-fed beef that’s sure to leave you full. The Burrito is just okay. Nothing special, but it’s well stuffed. Garlic fries are deeeelicious! Downfall is the service. It’s a hit or miss! Waiters are really hard to track down and food can arrive slowly. Half the time I’ve been here, I’ve had to wait forever for someone to get me a menu or just get anyone to come over that I just go inside the restaurant. The other times, I’ll get a great, attentive waitress! Then there’s the timing of food. Most of the time, I’ll be done with my meal before my friends get theirs.

After checking out the Waipio Lookout, we made our way back here for a late lunch, early dinner. Our family lives on Oahu and recommended coming here for the good beer. I ordered the Halfling IPA(a session IPA) and am very impressed! We also ordered food — the fish bites for an appetizer, plus the wonton and fish tacos for my meal. All were good, but the tacos were a tad soggy by the time I got them. Also, sitting outside means listening to traffic, although the patio is fenced. Overall a nice spot and I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area!
