California chicken sandwich is good. The loaded tater tots are phenomenal as well. Service may be a little slow but good place to go

Food was ok. Server was fine. Took 40 minutes to get the bill due to a connection issue for credit card transactions. They finally used the old credit card machine and did not offer a discount or coupons to return. The manager sent a server out to «keep the customers calm». Absolutely no ownership. Terrible customer service. Would not recommend.

Atmosphere is good, service was ok. It’s a bar, waitresses response to anything unusual on tap, «no, happy hour starts at…» no refills. Food was meh.

Nice place and great atmosphere. Food and drink were delicious. My only issue was with the server. Our waitress dropped our meals, so it took longer than expected. She then forgot to bring my wife and i our drinks and took our appetizer before we were done. This all occurred at a non busy time so I’m guessing our waitress was just clumsy and very forgetful. I would recommend this place, just hope you get a better server than we did.

Place is great during happy hour. Otherwise, it’s just ok. I have been here several times when visiting KC best times were with a group. Love the slogan and service were good.

Valentines day dinner(because this is where we met) So this was my first choice, we walked in and the bartender yelled to sit anywhere we wanted so we picked our table where we first met… which had a dirty towel on it and had not been cleaned off and nobody came over to our table for 10 minutes then we finally ordered drinks and it took another 10 minutes to get our drinks. THen we ordered appetizers and when they came we had to go fetch our own plates and utensils from another table. Food was great as usual, then the second drink order never came and we had to go to the bar and sit at the bar for about 5 minutes with no acknowledgement so went back to the table, still no second drink order or request of water so another trip up to the bar to get ice water refill. we paid and left very disappointed. And we drove 35 minutes from Shawnee Kansas

Came here with some friends before we caught our flight home. The place was dead on a Sunday afternoon and the service was pretty awful but the food was good. Excellent patio area for a pretty day!

Well I tried it once again Worse than the first time. We sat at our table for at least 10 minutes before we were greeted. Had to flag a sever down to help us. Drinks were ok but how do you mess up a bottle. Food was horrible we hardly touched it. Server could careless about us. When we got our tab there was a cocktail on there we never ordered. We were only drinking bottles… Then she tried to fight us about it. Nope never coming back

Clean, easy to find, decent prices, good drinks, cheap Bill. The Diva was a good drink, it consisted mostly of pineapple flavored juices and alcohol. The service was spot on, and the appetizers and sizings are decent.

I haven’t had a bad experience at a restaurant in a while, but Bar Louie snapped that streak. I went to Bar Louie on a Thursday night, not crazy busy, seemed like the place was moderately full. I wasn’t greeted at the door. Some lady for across the bar hollered for me to have a seat anywhere. My wife and I eager to get served as soon as possible decided to sit at the bar for quicker service. That was an unrealistic expectation. Took another 7 – 10 mins for the busy bartenders to even acknowledge my wife and I. Just before we were about to leave for greener pastures our bartender, Kacie, took our order. Even though, Kacie was great the food wasn’t what I expected. The Voodoo is an oversized piece of chicken served on buns way too small to hold it. You’re better of chopping the entire thing into smaller piece to be able to manage it. And to top it off, I had to request new fries because mine were room temperature by the time they got to me. The silver lining in this experience was that my wife loved her dish. The salmon sandwich sliders are very good and Bar Louie does have an interesting selection of drinks. Moscow Mule is the best. But with that said, all in all its not worth your time because they don’t value your time. They don’t treat you as a priority, you just another warm body. This issue is at the management level. My server, Kacie, was wonderful. But she can’t be the best I know she’s capable of if she doesn’t have help. This is the second time in one year that I’ve been to Bar Louie and in both instances they were under staffed. Bar Louie would have to significantly change their culture for me to ever visit that location again.

I recently went to a Bar Louie in Chicago and actually enjoyed what I had although my friends and I only ordered appetizers and drinks. I especially liked the«Meatballs Al Forno». Well, since there’s one nearby I thought I’d drop in for some more meatballs. Things started out bad from the get go. Evidently the person responsible for inventorying the food didn’t do a very good job so there were no meatballs. So, I figured«What the hell? I’m here so I may as well order something else». I decided on the portabella burger with loaded tater tots. Well, to keep it short, the burger was mediocre at best. Seemed to be lacking something. Bland. Not very flavorful. The loaded tater tots were but a small handful and not very damn loaded. A sprinkle or two of bacon bits was about it. What really made it bad was the price. I paid nearly $ 17.00(not counting the tip) for a very underwhelming burger and a small handful of tots with a Coke. I don’t mind paying that kind of price at all but I expect something exceptional for my money. At least for a burger and tots. There are numerous places in the immediate area where I could have gotten the same or better for half the price. Having said that, I will be very surprised if Bar Louie lasts much longer around here. Far too many better options in close proximity. I know I’ll never be back. The only thing positive I can say about the place is that the service I got was pretty good.

I can officially say I’m done with Bar Louie. I’ve given them three shots(in THREE different locations, FYI), and… well, I’m throwing in the towel. It’s not that the food is THAT bad. It’s edible. I’ve had better, I’ve had worse. Whatever. It’s bar food. It’s not even their prices. Maybe a little high for the quality, but again, whatever. What has finally made me say«no more» is their awful service. The first time I went, I tried the one downtown, and we waited 20 minutes for a server to greet us. I finally went inside and grabbed a manger, and then he took another 10 minutes to come to us. Then he had the audacity to charge us full price for our drinks, even though we arrived there 25 minutes before Happy Hour ended. I complained, he fixed it. The second time I tried Bar Louie was in Kirkwood, and the server there made an appearance every forty minutes. I have no idea what she was doing that whole time… This morning, I tried Bar Louie in Zona Rosa. We sat outside, since it was gorgeous out. Our poor server was all by herself, and had gotten quadruple sat, with no help. She was running around like crazy, trying to provide good service. So I am not faulting her. She tried her best, and was so sweet. Regardless, our food came out wrong, we waited for 15 minutes for a mimosa, 20 minutes for more coffee and a fruit cup that was supposed to come with the meal. Again, not a huge deal. I get it. Stuff happens. But when I chatted with the manager(I said our server was great but that she was obviously super flustered and needed help), she acted like I was completely out of line for coming to her. She offered no apology, but just said curtly, «Well, we don’t have a lot of people to work on Sundays.» Then just stood there like she was waiting for me to apologize for inconveniencing her. There was some sort of race going on in Zona that morning. Don’t you think you should have more people work to help that poor girl out? Obviously people may come out to eat after running(just a thought). Or if you don’t have enough people, HIRE them? As I’ve said in other reviews, I was a server for years. I know sometimes you are understaffed. But it seems to be a chronic problem for Bar Louie, and I’m tired of it. So if you’re looking for a great low key place I’d suggest The Cashew or The Flying Saucer. Don’t waste your time with Bar Louie.

Bar Louie is as average as average gets. It’s not a terrible place by any stretch, it’s just not terribly great either. The food is decent and drinks are reasonably priced. Service is hit or miss. Go on Tuesdays for $ 1 Burger Night. The burgers are actually pretty good, especially for a buck.

Terrible service. I finished my food before my fiancé received his. It took almost 30 mins to receive glasses of water and our server never smiled. Had to ask for a check(after another 30 mins) and was never asked how the food was. Great food but service was poor. I wouldn’t normally complain but, it was our second experience and service was equally awful.

The seat yourself policy is different.. I’ve never really seen it for a reason(we walked in, grabbed a seat, and were forgotten/unseen) It’s you’re typical«Chad» scene(think college frat dude with the collared shirt and plaid shorts) the food was disproportionate to the verbiage. Order a «side» salad/tots/fries you would expect a normal human sized SIDE. Chad Bar delivers a HUGE amount of whatever side you ordered. The food was alright. It took us awhile to decide what we wanted to order not because everything looked awesome and we couldn’t decide but because everything looked kind of Meh and boring.(minus their artery clogging loaded tots which are delicious) They serve mostly American lite beers. Overall the food is ok, the service is sloooooow.

I really wanted Tom Fooleries… but I guess it’s gone. But this Bar Louie place looked cool! We go in and there’s a cute sign that said seat yourself. We seated ourselves outside on the patio… there maybe have been a total of 10 tables filled… mostly w/2 people per table. Anyways. Someone comes and asked what we wanted to drink. Took about 23 mins before our drinks came, Then about another 12 mins for her to come take our order… We had toddlers w/us and we weren’t in a hurry so we didn’t complain but the table next to use sure was complaining. Once we ordered, both kids needed to used the restroom, at different times, and then we moved from outside to a table inside because it got cold… and we still didn’t get our food. took about 34mins… Really??? Wow. I ordered lettuce wraps, husband ordered a burger, kids had mac n/cheese and grilled cheese. nothing was good. Don’t order the lettuce wraps they’re not good at all. We probably won’t come back. Sucks because this place looked cute!

— seat yourself, inside or out. — good service for most of the time — staff is friendly — Tuesday’s is $ 1 burger night — kind of loud because of all the hard surfaces — TVs are around the room

I’ve been to Bar Louie in DC before and liked it enough so decided to stop by on a recent trip to KC. I didn’t realize the happy hour specials were so good! $ 5 martinis and there’s like 20 different kinds… yes please! $ 3 or $ 4 beers, half price apps. I really loved the veggie flatbread in particular. They also have $ 1 burgers on Tuesdays — it is a standard burger, nothing special, but it’s cheap! The service is good there too. So maybe not your top choice for a fancy dinner out… but a great choice for a cheap and delish happy hour!

My review will be short and sweet. It’s just meh. Like… meh. Not great, not bad. Interesting on a Saturday night. The old moms table(that was us – hehe) watched some drunk dude hitting hard on a girl at another table with two girls and a guy. The dude was so obnoxious and drunk and kept bothering her. The bartenders and other employees were watching and doing nothing when it was apparent she was fed up. Eventually the dude at their table had to step in more abruptly. Only then did employees step in and escort him out! Free entertainment to make up for mediocre bar food.

When it comes to bars, there are 3 things that I look for: 1. Moderately priced alcohol(extra brownie points if the happy hour is awesome). 2. Bartenders that aren’t bitchy.(It’s a rare breed, I know). 3. A surface to rest my arms, phone, whatever on that isn’t sticky. I don’t think that that is asking too much(except for the sticky thing) and Bar Louie exceeds my expectations with flying colors. I mean, of course, there is always a belligerently drunk bachelorette party in wedges making a huge scene, but c’mon, that’s any bar! I love this particular location because it has a perfect layout. It’s clicky(sp?) but that’s ok, there is always a lounging area just for you. Not to mention, they have an amazing deck AND conveniently placed bathrooms. I give props to Tara and Chelsea for being a few of the best bartendettes around. Cheers!
