Bartle Hall is Kansas City’s primary convention center. And as far as convention centers go it’s of reasonable size, is updated quite often, and holds a wide variety of events. Writing from an end user /visitor perspective depending on the event being held Bartle Hall is a great venue. When opened up for the Sportsshow you’ll realize just how big it is. Thanks to the 1% for Art city ordinances the place is also decorated quite nicely. Just ignore the giant hair curlers on top of the supporting cable towers! The ballroom and various meeting areas have always been functional and quite comfortable while attending events there. Parking as with any downtown venue is always a problem. If you park in the Barney Allis Plaza garage you can take the underground tunnels to get to Bartle Hall, Municipal Auditorium, and the Music Hall. This is great info to know if the weather is bad, but for smaller events sometimes the tunnel can be closed. It’s also kind of creepy to some people so if you don’t like tunnels stick to street level access. Overall it’s not Chicago’s massive McCormick Place and it’s not World Class like the Las Vegas Convention Center while it’s at max capacity for the CES: Consumer Electronics Show, but for KC, this is a great facility to have! Depending on the event the vendors for food and beverage service can range from top notch to not having enough open. A word to the wise: Unless you’re stuck there eat before you go.
