Great breakfast spot! I moved to KC a few months ago and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed Eggtc every time we’ve been. It can be a little loud at times, and the wait times can be daunting, but it’s definitely worth it!

You know I love breakfast and finding ourselves near the area at the right time we found this place. Not sure if they have a parking lot, but street parking was easy. We arrived early on a Saturday morning around 7:30 and there was no wait and plenty of seats. It looked like the crowd showed up around 8:00 and the lines began forming, so plan accordingly! The space was nice and inviting with some great artwork on the walls. Very comfortable! The wait staff was friendly, helpful and indulgent of our slow pace filling our coffee mugs many, many times. Big, big menu. We had the Southwestern Benny which is a biscuit topped with a sausage patty a load of scrambled eggs and a sausage gravy made with chorizo and served with breakfast potatoes. The gravy was delicious with a great flavor of sausage gravy but with the hit of what must be Mexican chorizo — to me a heavy paprika with some heat. Next time, I will get a sunny side up egg instead of the scrambled as I think the eggs were lost in the dish. The party also had the Sicilian sandwich with was a hard salami, prosciutto which is a dry cured ham along with an over easy fried egg, creamy mozzarella, basil, lettuce, tomato all on sourdough bread. Declared delicious by the eater, it looked awesome. The boy got the three stack of wheat bread French Toast which he said was great, but way too much for a kid. You might want to stick to the kids menu for the little folks.

Grain of salt on this one. I’m not into breakfast or brunch. It’s a meal where I feel I can get ahead in the calories per day game by just eating the minimum essentials. But, this place has biscuits and gravy. B&G is appropriate for every meal of the day and an order here only cost $ 5.29! That’s like… free! We started with a French Toast latte which was yummy. The coffee was smooth(no bitterness), creamy, and had lots of cinnamon. My biscuit was served with chorizo gravy and breakfast potatoes. It was pretty good but the biscuit was cut asymmetrically so one slice was thicker than the other. The thick slice stood up to the gravy and was like«I’m here!». The other slice was like«I was here a second ago but I decided to become one with this semi spicy gravy and accept my mushy fate.» So it kinda turned into just chunkier gravy. I stopped eating the conformist slice so I guess I saved some calories there… Great location in the Plaza District, lots of breakfast options and really good service.

While visiting my boyfriend in KC we were driving around and I Unilocaled«breakfast» and we ended up at Eggtc. on a Sunday morning. So glad this is where we came! The wait was about 30 minutes, but well worth it. The service was quick and attentive, and the coffee was great. Next time I’m hoping to try one of the more fancy falvored coffees. I ended up creating my own omelet with roasted red peppers, goat cheese, and fried eggplant. It was out of this world, and massive. Boyfriend had steak and eggs(if I remember correctly) and he enjoyed it very much. Looking forward to my next visit to Eggtc.

This is one BUSY place on a Saturday but the service was impressively prompt and professional, the coffee amazingly good and the food well prepared and hot. They offer a nice fruit alternative to their breakfast potatoes. Never a bad meal but try one of my faves, the salmon and goat cheese crêpe with hollandaise and capers. Yum!!!

Standard breakfast fare with a wild side twist in the décor. Solid breakfast choices with healthy portions for a decent price.

Another vote for the Southwestern Benny. Very delicious and filling. Servers are friendly and helpful and the place is kid friendly. I’ve only gone at off peak hours(like noon on a Monday) and didn’t have a wait. Great option for a breakfast spot.

My husband and I had our first«meal date» here. I hadn’t even heard of it before that! Now it is our favorite place to go on weekends. We planned our entire wedding here over breakfasts with our big notebook. Now we take our ten month old son. The staff is friendly, fast and fun.(Our most recent visit we had a new waitress and she was very slow. But we’re giving her a break because it was a Saturday at the busiest time at one of KCs busiest brunch spots and she was new.) They always bring our son extra bananas in the fruit cup and make no complaints about the mess he makes on the floor with scrambled eggs. I’m allergic to milk and my husband could live off dairy. We love the fact that they have so many dairy free options! They will even make the hot chocolate with soy OR almond milk! And the kitchen never complains when you ask them to leave the cheese or sour cream or cream cheese, etc. off. The ONLY thing I wish they would do for us milk allergy friends is get some quality vegan margarine. I know that butter is better. I know people gasp in horror at margarine. But I want something on my toast that won’t make me dead, dammit. Things we love to eat and drink at Eggtc.: Hot chocolate! As previously mentioned, several milk options. But the best thing is that the fabulous, totally rad, blue haired barista will make a panda on your hot chocolate with foam and chocolate syrup. I don’t care how old you are, a panda hot chocolate will make you smile for a day. The coffee is so delicious and fresh. It’s Roasterie coffee and they keep it in what my mom used to call a pump pot. But anyway, it stays hot without sitting on the burner getting bitter. They also give you a free to go cup when you leave your brunch to hit the town for a day of errands. Corned beef hash. Y-u-m! It’s got real corned beef in it. And real potato chunks. It doesn’t taste like the canned kind, is what I’m saying. It comes with two eggs and potatoes or fruit and a bagel, biscuit, or toast. Lotsa lotsa food! The turkey bacon. I don’t know how or what they do to it. It’s SO good. And an order is three slices. My baby loves the turkey bacon, too, so I can give him a tiny part of the bacon and still have a slice and essentially a half for both my husband and I. We order it as a side. Apple and goat cheese omelet. My husband loves this. I can’t speak for it because I’ve never tasted it. I haven’t risked goat’s milk, even though I hear cow’s milk allergy sufferers can often handle it. But I want to. Also comes with potatoes or fruit and choice of yummy bread. The oatmeal comes with delicious toppings and as many as you like. It’s just oatmeal, but you can’t put 20 different things on it at home. Also, I appreciate the simple gesture of putting that it is cooked in water on the menu. The couscous also states that it’s cooked in milk. For that reason, I haven’t tried it, but I’m super glad to know it. B.E.L.T. with an over medium friend egg… heaven! Try it with the french fries ON the sandwich.(This is why I am fat.) We just love this place. Thanks, Eggtc!

Consistently quality food every time I have had Eggtc. There is almost always a wait, which I take as a good sign. Others seem to enjoy the food as much as I do. Large selection of omelets, what I normally get, but my most recent visit I had steak and eggs. Steak was cooked to perfection. l Delicious coffee as well, my roommates always enjoy a Latte, not a big coffee fan myself. Overall for price and quality I think Eggtc is well worth the 5 stars and short wait.

One of my favorite places for breakfast/brunch in KC! It’s nearly impossible to get a seat in here on the weekends without having to wait forever, so I try to only come on weekdays. I love coming here with friends for a good hearty breakfast in a cozy friendly atmosphere. The menu has lots of different options, both breakfast and lunch, but I’m a breakfast food gal so I stick to that. One time I decided to be adventurous and got guava cream cheese on the side of my pancake… it was different but really cool!

For reasonable prices a hearty breakfast can be had here. The place was full when we arrived and it was a 10 minute wait for a table at 10am on a Saturday(today). It clearly is a popular place. Our server was not friendly nor personable which I didn’t mind but my date was a bit put off by it. We were served quickly, no big wait for food. I had the breakfast tacos that looked great(better than my photos) and tasted great. Coffee was good. Generally, I like eating outdoors on sunny days, but there was no outdoor seating and no view, however, the walls were painted lively with large sweeps of lettering and big crude paintings of food.

Eggtc is a great go-to place if you’re a student around the area. While the prices may be slightly higher than a college-student budget, it’s still a wonderful place to just catch up with a friend or get a nice full power meal before your slew of classes and studying! The French Toast, omelettes, and pancakes will always fill you up – I particularly enjoy how healthy their options are too. The smoothies are on par and are great to carry to class! Contrary to some of the other reviews, I’ve always had a great experience with the servers. One recommended the whole wheat pancakes(a great decision, to my surprise) to my boyfriend. I ended up snagging most of it from him. There’s really only two things that I’d want to improve: the space and having more servers. Part of the restaurant is super cramped. So, a side note: go for the booths! Furthermore, Eggtc is always busy, so if you have a class at 11AM you might need to head there at least 2 hours earlier because of the waiting time.

Got there at 10 am, waited 15 minutes for table. Ordered our drinks and meals and waited until 11:41 for our food to come out. We were trying to get on the road by noon. Our waitress was no where to be found for 30 minutes. I was looking because I wanted to cancel our order but by the time she re-appeared, our food came out as she walked by. I literally had to yell at the waitress as she walked by for some napkins. When she was around, she was nice but seem down or sad. I’m very disappointed and frustrated with the service here and can’t even enjoy the food.

Came here about 10 years ago. Horrible experience and hadn’t been back since. Beautiful rainy Saturday morning… decided to give it another try… Should have left well enough alone! First, the wait is ridiculous. Poorly hosted with no organization. To get a waiter to give you more than 2 seconds of their time — impossible! Getting a staff member to make eye contact with you is a joke. We quickly ordered our food as we were on a schedule. We waited over 20 minutes to get two very simple entrées. By the time mine arrived it was cold and incorrect. I ordered a simple skillet with three over easy eggs. They served me a cold skillet with one very well done egg. I sent the order back and ask for them to try again. Rather than remaking my meal… they promptly microwave my food and threw three eggs on top that were yet again… Not correct. A note to the cook, microwaving a meal that has fresh avocado on it is restaurant suicide! Who wants to eat black avocado? In a city that house is so many wonderful breakfast restaurants… You must rise to meet your competition. There were no indications of using local farms or markets for their ingredients. Their only job is to make breakfast and do it well. Absolute failure. Highly recommend our friends over at succotash or room 39.

The selection of coffee and specialty drinks here is outstanding. I got the Mexican spice mocha and loved it. My husband also had the salted caramel and it was great, both are a bit filling so you can easily lighten up on your meal if you order one if these. Our server was also wonderful — personable, funny and attentive, everything you would want. For our food, I would say average. I ordered their pancake special, pineapple upside down cake. I was expecting a cakey pancake similar to that of a pineapple upside down cake however, it was just a plain pancake with a pineapple purée on top. When I told our server the difference in what I was expecting, he explained that for a lot of their specialty pancakes it is normally some sort of flavoring or fruit purée on top, not that the pancake would be prepared as a pineapple upside cake so that is good to know for the future. This is a busy place so prepare for a wait.

Came back again since the last time I reviewed so thought I would update! This place is still amazing for so many reasons. They still get incredibly busy on the weekends which is to be expected. They have very quality food for the price which is pretty affordable. Most of the breakfast items cost anywhere from 5 – 8 dollars and I always feel like I get plenty to eat when I order a meal. They still have a reverse happy hour which is perfect for night shift employees. I used to come here after work for a morning beer and breakfast myself when I worked graveyard. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu and the staff is always friendly and helpful when they aren’t too busy. They also have a lunch menu as well that is just as affordable and although the menu says ‘after 11am only’ I spoke with a waitress there today and she said that you should be able to get it anytime. Definitely go check this place out if you haven’t yet, a great inexpensive place to go eat in KC for breakfast, brunch, or lunch!

We stopped in on a Sunday morning and boy was this place busy. Luckily they had three spots open at the counter which perfectly matched our group. We were immediately greeted by a friendly server who guided us through the expansive menu. They offer all the classics with a few clever twists. I ordered the quiche of the day which was turkey bacon club, my wife got the breakfast tacos and we also indulged by sharing one of the decadent cinnamon rolls that when heated was flooded in a pool of molten icing-yum! The quiche had a great buttery crust and was light and loaded with ingredients. It came with some fried potatoes(think small square French fries) which was the only disappointing part of the meal. Prices were very reasonable and service was speedy. Highly recommended.

Delicious! Cool art on the walls in this modern Americana breakfast spot. We ordered the Strawberry marscapone crepes — the marscapone was incredibly rich and fresh, Eggs Benedict– the ham was smoked locally and the hollandaise was just right. Very friendly service too. Our server even offered us to go cups so we could bring the rest of our delicious lattes with us(they were massive!) The Eggnog latte was awesome. Hubby loved the Pumpkin Pie Latte too.

Eggct? There’s nothing eggceptional about the breakfast. You might think I woke up in the wrong side of the bed that morning, but sorry, folks, this place is overrated. I was anticipating the food as I waited half and hour with other hungry early birds. The wait wasn’t a huge bothersome because I’m not the«hangry» type. I was a little excited and looking forward to see what the huge buzz was about. I mean a long line usually implies awesome food. Right? I’ll give them this… Eggct has a nice staff and is in a nice location but the food lacks imagination and taste, especially for the price you’re paying. The omelette were underwhelming and the sunrise was an overpriced egg sandwich with way too much butter on the bread that might make your heart stop in the morning. The only thing that I would consider ordering again is the Crêpe Salmon and Goat Cheese. One star for the punny name. It’s the pun and the four Unilocal stars that lured me and my family to come here(those damn puns… They always get me). I wanted to like you, but I’m sorry. I will not be recommending this nor returning. Eggct seems to have loyal patrons that comes every weekend. But I think I’ve saved others the trouble of waiting in line outside in the summer heat.
