Pizza is great, looking for a quick slice or take out definitely come here if you are in the neighborhood. Not the most attractive looking place but the best places are usually the«hole in the wall»!

Good pizzeria! Next time you are looking for a quick meal. Stop by Mamma Leone’s. I frequent the restaurant and the food is consistently good. I suggest their daily specials which are 2 slices, a slice and salad, or a calzone for 5.99. All come with a drink.

The first couple of times I liked the food here. Then I ordered a medium pizza and I didn’t like it so I went back for a refund/exchange. Not only did they not want to exchange my 20 dollar medium pizza, but they wouldn’t give me my money back! I ate less than ¼ of a slice. Another time I went in I saw a woman handling cash, then right after she grabbed a pizza and put pepperoni on it with her bare hands that she just counted money with ?! Gross! I’ll never go back

One of my favorite places to eat in KC! Great pizzas, very good salads and also great customer service from the hard working owners. Have always been left very happy after eating here. I would recommend trying their Calzone also!

Really had high hopes for this place. I hate to knock a restaurant where the pizza maker(owner?) was working hard but this place was bad. The woman at the register was clearly new and wasn’t familiar with the food. But setting that aside, my husband described the spaghetti as maybe being a step above chefboyardee and it was watery. The chicken in my fettucini had no flavor, nothing, no seasoning; maybe it came out of a can. Too bad. Their pizza looked good; maybe they should stick with what they do well and not try to be an Italian restaurant.

I stopped in for one of the two daily specials — a slice of pizza, a salad, and a drink, for $ 6.99. Two pizza slices and a drink were also available for the same price. My pre-baked pizza slice was reheated while my salad with three toppings was prepared. I liked that feta cheese was one of the salad topping options. My New York style pizza slice was very good, with delicious cheese, plenty of toppings, and a great crust. The service was friendly, and efficient, while the dining area was clean, and spacious. It’s a very good deal.

Great pizza! The price is right on this New York style pizza. The toppings are unbelievably fresh, but the best part is the crust. I am a huge fan of pizza and the crust was absolutely amazing. We also had the stromboli which was just as good. It was crusty and delicious. This place is absolutely worth the try.

The best pizza in KC. After living in Little Italy in NY, Mamma Leone’s pizzas brought flavors that we had been craving since our move to KC. Always delicious, every time. Added bonus: they have a drive-thru window for carryout!

Food was horrible, and the service was teribble. They guy was almost annoyed that we were taking to long to decide. The environment was also greasy and dirty. Will not be back.

Mama’s pizza is really good, they make the larger thinner pieces that have just a little crunch. They are in an old Wendy’s and still use the drive up window. I had the meat lovers two piece special and it was worth every penny.

Great slice a pie! Good crust and tasty sauce. The guys are super nice. If you need a «slice» of café-style Italy, go to Mama’s! Foh-getta-bout it.

OK, so my last review focused on the cheesesteaks here, but since then, I have tried the pizza, and I definitely need to up my rating. The cheesesteaks are still a 4/5, but the pizza really impressed me! So, I don’t crave pizza too often. Usually when I want something unhealthy I go with a sandwich, cheesesteak, fries, etc. But finals week rolled around, so it was time for some pizza! I ordered a medium pizza, half plain and half with black olives and mushrooms. The order-taker said it would be ready in «eighteen» minutes, so I headed their way in about that time. My order was ready and I headed home. I dug into my pizza, and was pleasantly surprised. I have learned after living here almost a year now that Kansas City pizza, well, kinda sucks. There are a lot of options, but usually the crust is too thin, and has really no texture at all. I just have gone away disappointed by pizza many times in this town, and I am far from being a pizza expert. It is even more annoying that places throw around the term«NY style», when it clearly tastes nothing like pizza from New York. I guess I learned after living here that I do know at least something about how pizza should taste haha. Anyway, back to the pizza from Mamma Leone’s. It was AWESOME. It reminded me of a place I grew up on called Cocco’s Pizza in Delaware County, Pennsylvania(just in case anyone reading knows what I am talking about). This is right outside of Philadelphia. The dough was chewy, just thick enough, and delicious. The olives and mushrooms were fresh, and the cheese to sauce ratio was perfect(not too much sauce, which is gross when it happens). I ate a few slices that day, and ate the rest of the pizza during the week, and I wasn’t even mad about it! I know I am comparing NY pizza to Philly pizza, probably not exactly the same thing, but I suspect northeast pizza has some similarities ;) Also, the owners and staff are always really nice. I know people from NY always get the reputation for being jerks(Philly gets it too), but these guys are actually nice! I am never offended by people who are rough around the edges, and these people are not just«NY-nice», they are real, human-being nice, haha :) Please try this place if you are looking for the NY pizza experience!

Our usual quick fix Italian restaurant was closed on Sunday and we’ve had a few friends comment on this place so we checked it out. Good food with great service. You order at the counter and the owner was there ready to help us decide. He gave us a few suggestions and was patient while we looked it all over and figured out what the kids wanted. Both kids had pizza and they loved it. The owner even cut it up into bite size pieces for them. Wife had salad and a slice and I had baked ziti and a salad as well. Everything was good. The salad seemed super fresh and homemade Greek dressing was great. Will probably go back just for a salad some time. We also got fried ravioli. It was frozen/store bought but still good. All in all its a GREAT value for your money. Highly recommended.

Ordered large pizza Stromboli and cheese bread, tasted great, not stingy on cheese on bread sticks, the price floored me tho…38 bucks. little high for me maybe because the size off their large pizza is bigger than most. I will say portions are large, so I won’t order the large next time

Excellent place with great guys who work there. Nice cozy atmosphere. Excellent food at affordable prices. Love this place! I usually get the Stromboli but this time I also had the Greek salad and Alfredo which they hooked both up in terms of portions!

Mamma Leone’s is as authentic of an east cost style pizza place you can get in the KC area. They nail all of the essential details: actual pizza ovens(not the conveyer belt bullshit), calzones and stromboli(and they know the difference), pizza by the slice, an assortment of pastas cooked in store, exceptionally good marinara sauce, and old people talking about the good old times. If you’ve never been to the northeast and have had the chance to experience local cuisine al la New York/Boston/Philadelphia, definitely try this place out.

Don is extremely polite and friendly. I was just gawking and he took the time to explain some of the items, the specials, and my option to pick my own toppings instead of picking from what was already baked. Of course I picked my own. I got pepperoni, mushroom, black and green olive Stromboli and it was pretty good. It tasted like it might need some more garlic, but otherwise acceptable. Marinara for dipping. My next trip in I got a calzone which are filled with a big bubble of ricotta cheese. It’s actually quite good. And EVERYONE was super nice. Laughing, joking and involving me in the fun(otherwise I would be mad). You see them before you get them. Very reasonable priced. Especially between 2 – 4 when they have specials(that may be ever changing). Pepsi products :(but sonic is next door. oh they have booze.

Mamma Leone’s is firmly in the Original Pizza family of restaurants and if you like those then you’ll find that the menu here is virtually identical. I love this because I’m a huge OP fan and Mamma Leone’s is right on par with their Kansas counterparts — I’m just happy I don’t have to go out to South OP to get a legit slice of NY style pizza and a sausage roll anymore! Also, try their homemade vinaigrette on the salad — it’s one of my favorite salad dressings EVER.
