Easily the best ice cream in town. Made with a higher cream content than most ice cream places, it is just super amazing! I personally am a fan of the rum raisin. I have also tried the corn. I don’t know what all is on it, but this is a must try also. They have many other icy treats and often a huge line. The line moves swiftly. They offer tastes of the ice cream so you can make sure you like what you are getting. They have a small selection of desserts that walk using every ounce of will power not to buy any. They look super amazing! I have enjoyed the horchata at events that they set up a tent at around town. It is a great horchata and the price can’t be beat. You have no reason not to try one of the Paleteria Tropicana locations. You will be satisfied unless you are a ice cream hating ogre.

Found this place by accident during my summer road trip. Wow! Get ready for a surprising flavor punch from this smooth, light ice cream. I tried a scoop of strawberries and cream and a scoop of Oreo with chocolate shell toppings. Yum!

The wife and I decided to cool off with something cold and sweet on a hot and humid KC summer day. We certainly picked the right spot here at Paleteria Tropicana. It was a pleasant change-up to the typical ice cream shop. I ordered the Ensalada Dulce De Leche which was pretty good, I liked the crème and the bananas but was less a fan of the apples and cantaloupe which didn’t have much flavor. My wife had the fresas con crema which was superb! The crème alone was to die for and the strawberries had the perfect amount of flavor and sweetness! There are so many choices to pick from on the menu we will certainly be back to try some more!

Most places require more than a first visit before they warrant the 5-star review, but this one is love at first sight. I remembered seeing the Unilocalers generally rave about the various locations, and I was craving dessert(but nothing too heavy or overwrought, sopapillas maybe) en route to KCK. So we stop by here for the first time. We ran in to a brief language barrier, with the very sweet girl at the counter struggling with her English as much as I was with some Spanish.(Those 6 years of French in school just don’t do me much good for anything than finding the Metro or the library in any language). But she grabbed someone to translate and we were in great shape. I got an eggnog paleteria and the hubby got strawberry churros. Absolutely awesome. Exactly the fix we needed flavor wise and done perfectly. I’ll be fixated on those for a while now!

Tropichurros! Churros filled with fresh fruit are delicious. Even the plain churros are just as good. I didn’t enjoy their flautas, but their tortas are tasty and their popsicles too.

my work got the fruit bars/popsicles for us & omg are they good. I will have to go to the one in Olathe & try everything. I have to tell you I was a bit reluctant when I got the e-mail saying there were popsicles in the freezer. Hmm. But, when I opened the freezer door, I saw these cute little bars loaded up in there & got excited! The oreo is soooo good– tastes just like an oreo shake on a stick!

Delicioso!!! Man, I’m hitting myself for not coming here sooner. I went to my first Tropicana a few weeks ago, and when it was recommended again, I jumped at the opportunity. This location is very big. It was very busy on the Friday night we visited, but the line moved quickly. As a honky, I was the minority in the place. When my server asked what I wanted in Spanish, I failed all my Spanish instructors by saying in my ashamed English, «I don’t know what I want yet.» From then on, the transaction was in perfect English, but I couldn’t help but feel guilty for not trying out my Spanish. Anyways, from what I could tell, most of the flavors weren’t labeled so you would either need to guess or ask. Since it was busy, I just picked out a flavor I knew I would like… mango. Their mango ice cream is so fresh and delicious. One scoop is a giant serving, enough to even share, and it rings in at $ 2.50. Not bad, not bad at all. I also tried an item I can’t remember the name of… it’s a fried pastry/bread topped with fresh fruit and whipped cream. It was so delicious. The pastry was hot and crispy from the fryer, while the fruit was fresh and cold. Mouthwatering! I love this company, and I can’t wait to buy from them again! But next time, I’ll bring my Latin lover to make things a little less embarrassing. It’s a great place to eat awesome Mexican treats and try out your Spanish. If you’re feeling timid, go to the Southwest boulevard location for your first time. It’s smaller, less crowded, and less overwhelming.

Wow. Just wow. This place is pretty much amazing and you need to go there now. All I really knew about Paleteria Tropicana was that they sold Mexican style frozen treats in some rather unique flavors. It’s been on my radar for a while, and since I was in the neighborhood today, I insisted we stop by. I was expecting a tiny little popsicle shack, sort of roughly thrown together. Something like a tropical snow place. The second I walked in, all of my preconceived notions about the place went out the window. First of all, this place is HUGE, modern and impeccably clean. The line is all the way out the door and as I stood waiting in line, I began noticing all of the amazing things heading past me. Huge and elaborate sundaes, banana splits and other fantastic desert type treats. And then the real surprises: beautiful fruit salads, specialty smoothies and shakes, and a full menu of Mexican favorites! I saw a TON of different things that I was ecstatic to try. Seriously, just look at the menu. It’s ridiculous. But I was here for one thing, and that was a paletia. They didn’t have the flavors listed, so the woman behind the counter rattled them off. They have a TON of options, but I went with the first she mentioned: mango and chile. It was delicious! With huge chunks of real fruit and a kick of the pepper, this was unlike any popsicle I had growing up. Even better? It was less than $ 2! I will definitely be back sometime VERY soon for a full meal, followed by another one of their deserts. I can’t recommend this place highly enough.

This shop has it all for a hispanic/american style dessert or side food treat. Which is probably why is usually packed. They really should have known better being so close to the new Sunfresh that they needed a bigger shop. However, it is what it is and that is still great. Menu is big and large and service is perfect. Who could ask for a treat in a better fashion.
