Sahara Sheesha Lounge

I only live a quarter of a mile from this place and do my laundry next door every weekend but up until yesterday I have NEVER found the time to come here… really glad I did!
Lots of wonderful sheesha choices at good prices, with very attentive (but not overbearing) coal service. My sister and I hanged out for 3 hours and the hookah was still good at the end of the visit!
For anyone who comes here expecting them to serve alcohol, you may want to keep in mind that there a million other places to go around here if that is what you want to do, and perhaps more importantly, Islam forbids drinking alcohol so it shouldn’t be surprising that a hookah bar doesn’t serve it. The owners are sharing their culture with their guests — not to mention their wonderful skills with preparing a hookah — so it’s important to respect that! I drink plenty of alcohol but was happy to just have a pot of mint tea for a change while I enjoyed the hookah and conversation. Will definitely not wait so long to come back!

I have been a customer of Sahara Sheesha Lounge for two years. I go there atleast 3 times a week. This place has a wide range of flavors to select from. My Favorite is the STARBUZZ VINTAGE «Fresh Lime and Mint». Shout out to the Hookah Master Jonathan who integrates science with hookah and makes sure that the bowls last for a long long time. They have decent prices which make it affordable for all sections of customers. They also have wide range of Smoothies and Coffees. Moustafa the boss is there to welcome customers and ensure that the customers are satisfied with the service. The staff is very attentive and they help the customers with wonderful recommendations. They have 11 dollar monday special and you can bring food also. They have a wide range of music collection which gives a pleasant experience. If you want to enjoy you’re hookah in a friendly atmosphere Sahara Sheesha lounge is the right place. I can say that this is the best place I have ever been to.

Not your typical hookah bar. Zero stars for ambiance and 4.5 for the hookah itself. There are bright lights and they don’t serve alcohol.

This place! I want to start off by apologizing for writing this review so late…
I’m Arab (half Egyptian in fact), and have been to countless hookah bars. I know a good hookah bar when I see one. The vibes in this place makes you wanna stay till close. The guys there are great, always making sure your hookahs on point. Shout out to the owner Mustafa: D
We started off with a flavor that turned out to be a bit too harsh for our tastes, and they replaced our hookah with a new flavor twice. They even gave us a delicious Turkish coffee refill… both for free! Point blank they will make sure your happy. The menu is great with very reasonable prices. Forget those other joints and give these guys business! They deserve it.
(bonus– theres a Chipotle right across the street)

The best sheesha lounge in KC, great selection of good quality sheesha, the recent remodel is really nice. Everyone there is extremely friendly and welcoming. They do everything they can to ensure that your experience is enjoyable and you are comfortable. Highly recommended.

Definitely the best hookah lounge in Kansas City. I have been coming here for 5 years due to their excellent service, prices, and hand-​mixed selections of sheesha flavors. They have a full coffee bar as well as freshly made smoothies and juices. The hand-​crafted furniture and décor add to a beautiful ambience that makes this a great place for studying or relaxing.

By far the best hookah lounge in KC! The place is spectacular. Very relaxing and enjoyable. Good variety of hookah flavors, delicious smoothies, nice music, and outstanding customer service. Great for small and big groups. Ideal for birthdays. Try their tea… AMAZING. I love the small cups!

I have been to a few hookah bars here in Kansas City. But Sahara Sheesha Lounge is the best in Kansas City! They have so many tobacco flavors to choose from! The service is great! And the environment is quite and relaxing! I love it here! It’s the only place that I go to!

Impressive customer service. Was on a trip from North Carolina and couldn’t have asked for a better place to hangout with friends. The turkish coffee was great. Lemonades were made to our tastes and the hookahs were awesome. Learnt something new despite owning multiple hookahs previously. Must visit for anybody who wants to chill out with good people!

I was impressed by the service and the quality. I was visiting from Portland, and this places atmosphere is really chill and relaxing. Defiantly on key with my favorite Portland hookah bar. When I visit again, I’m sure to come back. Oh and did I mention they have a punch card?!

The 5 stars I give Sahara Sheesha Lounge speak for themselves, but I would still like to add a few reasons why! Sahara is a home away from home for many regular customers. And I do mean regular because it would just seem irregular to not see them there! It’s just a great place! The handcrafted furniture is beyond classy and beautiful. more importantly, it’s the awesome friendly staff that go out of their way that make it top notch. They really do make you feel extra special and take the time to help you choose the perfect mix of flavor to suit your taste.
Sahara is the perfect place to unwind after a long day because the atmosphere is just so chill. You will see people just relaxing, watching the game, playing cards or like me just sitting on the phone while listening to music! Whatever vibe you’re looking for, Sahara has a seat just for you!

I swear this place has like the best vibe. Everytime I come it’s got such a chill atmosphere no matter how many people are within the building. Even during ALCS Sahara Sheesha still put out an atmosphere that my brothers and I could still enjoy without worrying about how loud anything was. Definitely ¹⁰⁄₁₀

As a self proclaimed hookah addict (it’s not actually addicting which is a common misconception) this is my favorite place to go. Sahara has a full menu of house mixes and is very flexible to any flavor mix you’d like. If you’re new to hookah they’ll explain the whole process and recommend the best flavors to suit your taste. The smoothies are amazing! Mango or watermelon are my go to drinks. The hot tea with sage always calms my stomach and goes well with any sisha. It’s in the process of being renovated and it gives you a truly Egyptian vibe. The seating is comfortable and open. There is a huge projector and two flat screens so you can watch the games. The staff is friendly and always willing to help address any problems or concerns. I suggest you park across the street at Chipolte. The prices are great and you get more than what you pay for. They have a punch card for a free hookah after you’ve gotten six. The bathrooms are always spotless and frequently checked on. Everything is kept clean and they don’t mix flavors with hookahs to make sure it tastes the way it should taste. The coals are square and last without the icky affects of the round quick lights. Expect this place to be packed on the weekends but they’ll always find a spot for you. The building is well ventilated and not smoky. I always know I’m going to be treated right when I come here. Try the mummy and sage tea!

So this place only gets better they recently finished stage one of their remodel and it is amazing. New chairs and benches with real cushions that are soft and comfy. They have two more stages to go and where nice enough to share the plans with me. stage two is finishing their kitchen area and making it more presentable and less like a bar and more like a classy mix station for all your drink and ordering needs… while they still are unfortunately down one coffee machine they still make amazing smoothies. I digress stage three is an overhaul of the decorations and finishing touches and I for one can’t wait to see the finished product. So come join us in a wonderful experience that you are sure to enjoy.

Could It Get Any Better?!?
This is by far my favorite hookah bar in Kansas City — After a bad experience at Hookah Haven and Ali Baba, my husband and I were initially hesitant. We came in and were immediately welcomed by Peter who promptly seated us and took our orders — The hookah was served quickly with natural coals. The tea is fantastic with mint, they serve Vimto, Turkish coffee, and soda. Saraha does NOT serve food and it’s better that way because they can concentrate on serving QUALITY hookah. There are many regulars here, but that doesn’t change the way in which they treat each client.
I am a very traditional smoker and this place is perfect for me. Did I mention their selection of music? They play every genre including Arabic.

Still just has good 3 years later. Congrats Mustafa on your fine establishment. Great service, love the comfy furniture and the ambience is just so smooth and enticing.
After all this time still get the pom berry pink and tea, never gets old always relaxing. Great new front patio, so much fun with a groups even brought the office, love breaking the newbies in.
So many good restaurants around, go get ya some, bring it in, sit relax, order a smoothie, fresh squeezed juice. Well done Sahara well done.

Inexpensive and great

I love that place it’s clean, organized, great hospitality. The hookahs had the right full taste of what you order. i have been there a lot every single time I get the hookah with full of the flavors I ask for. They have a bunch of amazing mixes.
Friendly staff they joke around with you made me feel like I’m at friends place. And the drinks I had no comment about them the smoothies were pretty fresh I even saw them while they were making my drink from behind the counter. The teas were just right. just let them know how you would like your drink to be and here you go tasting it at sahara’s amazing way. I love that place

I was in town for the weekend, and as a hookah addict (not literally, but I do own 10 hookahs myself) I definitely wanted to see what Kansas City had to offer.
I went at about 5:30 on a Friday, deliberately before the night crowd. Even though 2 of the sofas remained open the whole time I was there, I was told I was not allowed to sit in one, since I was alone. The wicker chairs at the tables are extremely uncomfortable.
I ordered a drink made with ice but was told the ice machine was broken.
I asked if they made «fresh» hookah (using fruit instead of a clay bowl). One worker did not even know what I meant. The other simply said no, they don’t.
In my opinion, coal service is about the most important thing in a hookah bar. Even though there were only 4 tables of customers, and 2 employees, with one of them behind the bar a few feet from where I sat, I still had to ask for coal when mine was out.
The location is on trendy 39^th street. Some twenty-​somethings knew Pete the worker by name. I assume this place has its regulars.
But if you really know what a hookah experience should be like, and are looking for that, this is absolutely not the place to try.
