Zippy’s Kapolei

Like Zippy’s everywhere, Zippy’s Kapolei is conveniently located, with an extensive menu to satisfy just about every taste.
I’ve been craving loco moco and got my fix tonight! There are 2 sizes, regular (2 eggs) and a small portion (1 egg). With extra gravy on top, I was in heaven!
Capped my meal off with a waffle with strawberries and whipped cream for dessert! Ono!
The staff are friendly and helpful. When it gets busy, they are a little scarce, but they try hard.

So my friends treated to me to a late lunch. and I know I said I would never eat here again, but she wanted zippys .this time we she ordered a zip pac and she got me a Koren fried chicken and it took like 30 min to get our food… the first plate was cold. took it back 2^nd time it wasn’t cooked all the way through and it was cold. the cook came out (I don’t know why.) so I just decided to get a large saimin. I’m not so happy with the service. when I ask for the difference they gave me a hard time. the manager didn’t know what he was doing… ugh. another day at zippys kapolei…

Went last night on June 9,2016 was lousy I ordered the special sweet sour spareribs $ 9.00 plate hardly any meat or spareribs on it mostly gravy was not hot or warm it was disgusting. My husband had the Mahi plate looked good. I won’t be going Zippys for awhile so sorry bye.

Got a Korean fried chicken plate and the rice was NOT even cooked or it was simply really old and dried out. Which is REALLY disgusting to be serving OLD food. Nonetheless chicken was really dry as if it were boneless fried chicken. I ordered almost 50 dollars worth of food and our OFFICE was completely dissatisfied with the visit this morning especially the customer service on the phone from Levita?!. I’m at a lost for words.

This is our go to place cause it’s conveniently located. The food is good cause its fairly consistent. What almost lost a star for this rating is the staff. If you’re having a hard day, take a deep breath and charge forward with a smile.
But I come here for the food and the girlie is mighty hungry. Yay for good food.

The wait is a tad long but I’m sure they’re just under staffed. Loco moco on deck with fried rice and mushrooms! Nomnomnom

Having my brunch not as busy, mellow & certeous employees. What’s your next stop? Chicken katsu, all rice, substitute katsu sauce with ranch dressing & a large fruit punch.

Great pastries and delicious fast food dining options. This restaurant is a popular Hawaiian eatery. Their chili, fries, soups, and burgers are great! The breakfast entrees are awesome as well. Great place to start the day, lunch break, or end the day.

Received great courteous service, the waitress brought a complimentary waffle because she thought ours was slightly burnt (I thought they were fine though.)
Good place for a simple breakfast, not too crowded, reletivly quiet, good atmosphere for starting your day.
Average pricing $ 8:50 for Belgian waffle combo.
Flavor was solid, (it’s breakfast can’t expect much.)

They get three stars for flavor. Hospital café feeling at this point.
I ordered corned beef hash well done. I normally don’t eat hash anywhere but fat boys because most drop it out of a can. The hash had flavor but they made the patty so fat that it didn’t crisp so it was all gooey and mushy inside. Didn’t finish it.
Ordered eggs over easy– love yolk but mine was partially broken and cooked out. Where as the whites were raw and runny. Yup didn’t finish that either.
Ordered fried rice– finally something done just right. They don’t have the best fried rice but they executed «their» fried rice well.
Overall the atmosphere was kinda quiet.

Really enjoyed the sevice received from April Lynn.
Fast. Attentive. Friendly.
Minus one star because our food was served to us almost cold, definitely not warm.

I don’t know why this location gets a bad rap. Every time I’ve been here, it hasn’t been any better or worse than any other Zippy’s location in my opinion. I don’t know if people expect a 4 star experience from a place like this, but they have been nothing but reliable and friendly every time I come here.
Usually get the chicken plate, always good, anything that I get is consistent, and never a bad time or bad service. Keep up the good work Zippy’s Kapolei!

Basically good compared to other Zips. The food was good about 5 – 8 years ago but not so great now. Chili is same but you know it’s all personal perception. I prefer a Rainbows Chili. Just ok.
Update 1yr later. A bit slow in this fast paced Kapolei world. But food still good.

Horrible experience with the fast food counter here. Stood in line for a good 5 minutes waiting on a cashier to take my order. You try to be polite and wait til you’re acknowledged yet as each additional minute that passes you get more annoyed. No, thanks for waiting, order when you’re ready, hang on a minute… nothing.
I had to approach the cashier myself and ask if it was okay to order!!! That’s beyond horrible!!!
It’s embarrassing that the customer service at a Zippys is worse than you would get at a run down gas station.
I’ll take my Zippys craving to one in town or in Aiea. I’ll come back to this location once we order at kiosks or robots with better brains and common sense than the low end help they hire.

Definitely one of the worse dining experiences I’ve ever had. I stumbled upon this place since it was open late and featured local” food. The place by the time we showed up was not crowded yet the service was slow. It was disgustingly dirty. We ordered two soups, one which was the smallest serving and then another one that comes in one size only for $ 20. Yeah, Hawaii is expensive but this was ridiculous, it got even worse when I got my food. It was disgusting! We got the saimin and the ox tail soups. The ox tail was bearable but not $ 15 worth, not even $ 3 if you ask me. The saimin was inedible.
I ended up throwing out more than half of my food, and now I have a stomach ache and the worse taste in my mouth.
Do not go there! If it’s late and you think is your only option against the regular fast food places around, go with the fast food places. You’ll have better flavors for ¼ of a price.

I love me some Zippy’s! And I think Zippy’s Kapolei might just be one of the best locations on the island. There are some locations that give you small portion sizes, have rude employees, and other random irks, but not here. Every time I come here, quality and service is great. They definitely aren’t very quick, but the line is always really long, understandably. It’s a great idea to call your order in so you don’t have to wait behind 30 hungry people wanting their teri beef plates or Zippy’s chili. The best dish here is the teri beef plate, by the way. so ono! Their cakes and sweet treat offerings are great as well. Basically, you can’t go wrong with Zippy’s.

If you love local food– then you already know what Zippy’s is all about– and it screams local.
We had just come from Wet and Wild on an event night and you should have seen the LINE. Not only was the line long, but there were so many people it was just a mob. It was a 2 headed hydra line where people did not know where the line began but knew where it ended so they just got behind others that they though had yet to order. Take it– this was an unusually busy night and it was over 1 hour wait for the restaurant part and when we got to the cashier of the fast food part– she immediately offered info that it would be a 45 min to 60 min wait for food. Hats off to the great customer service– before asking anything else– she had said that the wait was understandably long– and longer than one would ever expect.
No the wait wasn’t 60 min for food but depending on what one ordered– I could see how it could have been that long.
Great service though– they were slammed and they wanted to help people as quickly as possible to get them out of line and either outside to wait or sitting down somewhere. The Over the Phone cashier would also help people as she was able to do so after finishing with her line of phone orders.
I was joking– by the time we got to the front it would be breakfast rolling out as also available– but no still dinner at that time.
I got my loco moco in a reasonable amount of time. My friend got her teri beef in way quicker time.
My normal order usually includes;
Always great for a mushroom burger special.
I get buckets of fried chicken when there is more than just the family eating together.
The Keiki love the chili with hot dogs.
So in other words– the variety of the menu is there and if you don’t know ZIppy’s it is way better than an McD day.
They don’t take Discover card though– only visa and mastercard.

Zippy’s Kapolei is a 24 hour restaurant that’s open seven days of the week. The restaurant has both diner and fast food sections for the customers plus they sell Napoleon Bakery items.
Diner experience:
Majority of the time when I visit the Zippy’s Kapolei I would always head to the diner side of the restaurant and sit at a booth after following the hostess. My favorite items that I normally order from the diner side are the oxtail soup or the clubhouse sandwich with fries.
The diner side of the restaurant is always clean since the waitresses always clear the tables and wipe down the tables. The waitresses always make sure that the condiments are available for the customers.
Restroom in the diner side of Zippy’s Kapolei to me has always been clean and there’s enough toilet paper in each stall.
Fast food experience:
When I order from the fast food section I would always order the spaghetti with meat sauce. I love the summer deal of paying 99 cents for a drink when ordering a regular size plate lunch.
On Saturday August 29, 2015 I had decided to eat in at the fast food section of the restaurant. Wait time for the food was pretty quick during the 5pm hour. The tables were kind of clean and the floor was very dirty.
The restroom in the fast food section was very filthy. It looked like the restroom wasn’t cleaned for awhile. The smell of the restroom made me want to puke. If the men’s restroom is out of order in the fast food section then the men would use the women’s restroom too.
Overall experience:
Employees are friendly. Depending on what food item is being ordered then the wait time would be around 10 minutes otherwise if the restaurant is very busy then the wait time would normally be around half hour. Cash and credit cards are accepted here at the restaurant as payment. First Hawaiian Bank ATM is located in the restaurant opposite one of the pastry display cases.
I would still visit the Zippy’s Kapolei and return to the diner side of the restaurant especially if I have a craving to eat oxtail soup or clubhouse sandwich.

I don’t know why we do it, buuuuut we do. You’d think that by the millionth time we’ve said «let’s never go to zippy’s again» … We’d never go to zippy’s again lol. (At least for dining there. Bakery is still good)
Anyway, planned on dining in, waitress said 20 — 30 minute wait. Usually we don’t mind waiting at any place but tonight was not the night so we ordered take out.
Ordered Wun tun min, a zip pack, mini spagets, and a chicken cutlet. (Don’t get the chicken cutlet.) When our order was called it wasn’t complete. We had to go back to the counter twice to pick up missing items.
My parents ordered the wun tun min and zip pac. The wun tun min my mom said was alright, but the chicken in my dads zip pac was soggy and not crispy. My daughter had the mini spaghetti and I ordered the chicken cutlet. The spaghetti sauce tasted watered down so wasn’t a fan of that. And the chicken cutlet, let me say don’t buy it. The gravy tasted weird. Unexplainable In fact and the fork had more flavor than the chicken. The only good things were the rice and Mac salad.
Two stars for portion sizes (pretty big) and cheap eats.
Other notes: lots of parking but the parking directly in front can get cramped.
If you’re sitting in the take out area it’s wayyy cold. Even if the food is hot, a few moments later it will get cold. Not an enjoyable experience. Even if it was hot outside.
The bakery is pretty good though. I’ll add one more star for that since I enjoy their ensemadas and chocolate center doughnuts. Their cakes are good too.

Food is really good. The classics like chili & rice, fried chicken, mac salad, fruit punch, orange dream, you name it. I think what is lacking is the customer service. Not sure if it’s a management issue or what but seems like all the employees I’ve seen are emotionless. Service is still service. I haven’t waited very long for the food or to be seated in the dining area but still, seems like they lost hope for human kind. We will continue to go back whether it be to this location or the others no matter what. As long as the food keeps on being awesome.
