Positives: Fiddy cent PBRs. Pee before you go. Price goes up to $ 1.50 after you pee. Good food and generous portions. Fun people working there. They treat you like family. Best catering in town. Great place for after work beers and appetizers. Comfort food. Negatives: A bit pricey on the food. If you order chips and dip, the chips are fresh but VERY salty. I order mine without salt and they are great. Liquor and beer choices are limited. Pinto beans are tasteless.

I’m writing a review based on limited experience, only been here once for their comedy open mic which they host once a month on Thursdays. This is a cozy, very well maintained and well lit establishment. The bar and the staff were both festive and welcoming. They had 50 cent PBR until someone had to pee, that might have been a running gag. They do have a full Bar. I can’t imagine this place sits more than 50 or 60 folks. I didn’t order any food, can’t vouch for that, but did look at the menu and saw the food being delivered to other tables and it looked good and portions were immense. Didn’t meet the owner, Lisa, but here she’s full of life and energy and makes your visit a memorable. I’ll certainly revisit this place and not just during the open mic.

I have been to Big Fatty’s before but this is hands down the time where it really made its own llittle crevice in my heart. We had a great beginning of date night and it was a perfect time to go. I love the fact that they have a chalkboard with all their day specials. Also that they keep it up to date. I saw the person in charge updating the wine specials. That shows they are putting their mind into it. We got one of the day specials, the cornmeal crusted catfish. It was fresh, cooked right then and on a soft bed of cheese grits. I have to say something about the cheese grits. So far I have only liked cheese grits that I make myself, at home, as they tend to be grainy, raw and not cheesy enough. Their cheese grits are on point. My husband doesnt it the crust on breaded fish, to keep healthy so naturally I went for that! I got the chicken salad plate. Perfect chicken. I loved that it wasn’t shredded to bits. They yserved it with a fruit salad made on the premises, not from a can. Also a slice of their homemade banana bread. YUM! We also got a green salad, with real carrots for added crunch. We got a banana pudding to go, for our girls, which they also really loved. I cant add anything to the perfection of dinner, save for the awesome waitresses, the chef that came to our table and the fun rockabilly décor. Can’t wait to go again! PS they have 50 cent PBR on draft every day from 4 to almost closing!!!

Walked into this place 40 minutes before they said they were closing, I called to check just out of respect for people in the service industry. I guess they wanted to leave early but instead of letting us know they were done serving their tactic was to flat out ignore us for nearly twenty minutes. Finally when my girlfriend got up to ask the bartender he stumbled over some bullshit excuse you could tell he was making up on the spot. After all this, it was basically too late to go anywhere else for food. Most unprofessional, arrogant staff I’ve encountered in my 34 years of life. I try to frequent and support small local spots, as I am a business owner in this town myself. Having said that, I would never step foot in this place again. How they stay open is a mystery to me.

A friend and I decided to try lunch there today and went on in even after seeing only 2 cars there at noon. Mistake. I ordered Fish and Chips and was served 2 grease soaked pieces of batter with not much fish… so greasy I only ate part of 1 piece and when I told the waiter how bad it was he just took my plate away and did;t even say«sorry». My friend had a very small chicken sandwich which came with about 12 french fries. We both had only water to drink and it was $ 26.00. First and last trip for us.

Always enjoy the food I get from these guys courtesy of Valet Gourmet. Their sweet potato fries are incredible. I can’t really speak to the dining experience as I’ve yet to visit in person, but yeah. The sweet potato fries are somethin’ else.

I am so grateful for this place being open on sunday and serving up some nice mimosas for cheap. I could probably drink a fortune of mimosas here because they add ice to the cup and I’m always wanting more. The people are friendly and down right good people who want to you enjoy your time as a guest. They are quite attentive to your coffee refill needs. Although, the coffee taste burnt and could use a better brew method, the food is great! It isn’t anything fancy but the portions are good and as well as the variety of items on your plate. Go for the big fatty breakfast: grits, gravy&biscuit, eggs your way, bacon, and sausage. Or go for the Pinner burrito: black beans, eggs, jalapeños, and pinto beans poured over the burrito. There is something that will easily appeal for anyone coming in. Although I don’t think they cater to the the gluten free diet. Speaking of catering, they do this as well if you are interested in having them for your party get together. Overall, the food is great, the music is good, and the coffee could be better.

Love this place! I go here for lunch and their blue plate lunch special is excellent! The owner is super cool and the prices are reasonable. Everyone there seems to really care about how you enjoyed the food. Never had a bad meal here. I’ve never been for supper but their lunch is always great!

Good vegetarian options and a friendly(and cute) staff makes up for an otherwise slightly limited Southern-Modern menu. If you are a Progressive person, the atmosphere might be to your liking. The prices are what I consider to be moderate, with the food quality very high. The place is also very clean. You can see into their kitchen, which always tells the real story; clean to the eye.

Big Fatty’s is a little diner in Knoxville, with home cooked meals. The décor looks like a typical country kitchen restaurant. It was late on a Sunday, so we were the only ones in the restaurant. Our server was attentive, but of course, it was only us. They have PBR, which I had one. Garrett had the catfish plate, which came with fries, slaw and cornbread. He said it was good. I had the fried chicken. It only came with one piece, which is enough, but not typical. They obviously bought there plates used as mine was from Shoney’s. The mac n cheese was good. The baked spinach maria was awesome and creamy. It was my favorite part of the meal. I would go back just for it. The cornbread was good, too. It’s a great place for veggies and a good home cooked meal.

Don’t expect to be treated like anyone special here. The owner speaks her mind, but I kinda like that about her. If you want food that will stick to your ribs for months after you eat it, this is the place to go. The shrimp po boy is huge, and the scalloped potatoes are delicious and incredibly horrible for you. The black bean burger is actually really good and probably the healthiest thing on the menu other than the salads. I’ve never tried any of the salads on the menu here because who does that at this place?!

Ermmm. No. I ended up here with two friends after a long run on a Saturday morning. Of course, the thought of greasy food after a run sounded ideal and i was looking forward to diner style hot, greasy and amazing food. Not so much. The food was nothing out of the ordinary. Since there wasn’t any vegetarian options on the breakfast platters they had(which was also suprising), I ordered two eggs, toast and hash browns a la carte. I certainly could have cooked those better than what I got. The most annoying thing was the price. I paid over $ 10 for two eggs, ONE slice of toast and a handful of potatoes. This place is OVERPRICED and the food is really just average. No, thank you!

My mother lives in Loudon and had been wanting to try this place for quite sometime. Unfortunately her husband is a health nut so there was no way she was going to get him to go to a place called Big Fatty’s. No way, not happening. During a shopping excursion we decided to give it a try. I was all for it being from Columbus. I love supporting local restaurants and sometimes it seems like there are nothing but chains in the Knoxville area. I was expecting more of a traditional southern menu. What I got was a pretty standard bar food menu at really high prices. I’m certainly not cheap, I gladly pay $ 10 a pint for Jeni’s ice cream, but $ 11 for a fried fish sandwich? That just seems excessive. Service was a bit slow. There were probably six or seven tables in the place, but only one server for the entire floor. He was friendly enough when he finally came over(luckily there were some menus lying on a table near us or we would have been without for quite some time). I decided on the vegetable plate — or side sampler — and my mother got the catfish po’boy with a side salad. The food came out pretty quickly and the owner offered choices of vinegar for the turnip greens. I also got Mac & cheese, pinto beans and cornbread. The greens and beans were tasty and the cornbread wasn’t bad, just a bit too sweet for me. The mac & cheese was neon orange and tasted artificial. The po’boy was huge and pretty good. You could tell that it was a good quality piece of fish but it seemed like the oil wasn’t hot enough because it was a bit greasy and mushy. The side salad was pretty standard: iceberg lettuce, diced carrots and tomatoes. It was served in a metal bowl which was nice because it was big enough to mix the dressing in without lettuce flying everywhere but wasn’t very aesthetically pleasing. In all, I just wasn’t impressed. $ 22 for two lunches with waters seems way too high for the quality of food and while service was decent it certainly wasn’t great. The search for a great local restaurant in Knoxville continues.

It’s called Big Fatty’s for a reason. It’s the type of meal that stays with you way after it is over. I got the fried chicken. It was dry on the inside, not alot of flavor. Mac N Cheese was okay, spinach maria was soaked in butter, and scalloped potatoes were fine. You want this place to be the«I usually eat healthy but I had to cheat because Big Fatty’s is so great!» It’s not, and it’s a little overpriced as well.

I only eat here if there’s a Living Social or Groupon for it. It is entirely too expensive for what you get. The concepts and combinations are really great ideas, but I’ve never had anything spectacular. The food has been consistently good, but I cannot get over the prices, which have actually gone up even more recently I think. The burger is fine, the shrimp po’boy is good but I am pretty sure it’s just Sea Pak frozen shrimp on white roll — $ 10?! The service is always good. The owner seems totally gruff as others have pointed out. I’ve never tried dessert from this place.

Fried Chicken! That is what they do well. Along with that they have a banging fried okra. Obviously it’s called Big Fatty’s for a reason. In West Knoxville, this is the place you should go for some good deep fried goodness. They have a good brunch, and are open for lunch and dinner as well. They always have specials which is usually where the fried chicken comes into place. Their club sandwich is very good too! Seriously stick with the fried foods because they rock! Enjoy and Cheers!
