Just had my hair cut for the first time at Chop Shop this afternoon and it was the perfect choice. The space has a funky edge but not in a pretentious of off putting way. Excellent music and Lilly, my stylist, was extremely friendly and easy to talk to. Most importantly, she took my sort of vague description of how I wanted my hair cut and was able to give me exactly what I was looking for. As a bonus she also gave me some samples of a product I was interested in. Chop Shop is located in an up an coming neighborhood; so if you’re looking to support a local business, I have no reservations recommending this salon.

Chop Shop used me for a model and used Aveda’s Smooth Infusion Retexturizing System on my hair. It flopped BIGTIME and my hair is wavy in the back and straight on the sides. I got a big discount on the procedure but now they are holding me hostage, wanting to charge me 125.00 to TRY to fix it. I am not convinced they can fix it and I am not about to fork over that kind of money with a lack of confidence. Well, I told them my only option would be to «brag» on who did my awful hair while it grows out. It will only take about 3 – 4 years to grow out so that gives me plenty of time to sing their praises in Knoxville. Check out my picture @ Update: The owner commented on Unilocal that she wanted to fix the problem but never followed up with me. I would have loved to talk to her about it and possibly amend my review. I hate to blast a cool new salon. Oh well, looks like I am not the only one who has had a bad experience.

This place is great! As soon as you walk in you can tell it is different than all the other shops in knoxville. Great artwork and decorations really sets this place apart. The only complaint I had was too much neal young was playing on the radio! The cut itself was great. I would highly recommend giving these guys a shot!

Any place that offers up a scalp massage as part of my haircut experience has my full attention. Next you have to factor in the care and attention that Cindy Lou gives to every single strand of hair on your head. Of course another part of the excellent experience at the Chop Shop is Cindy Lou herself. She’s a really cool lady who makes everyone who sits down in the chair at her station feel like they are the most special person on earth. She gets to know who you are as a person, and you get to know her. Both my husband and I have our hair cut here. Cindy Lou and crew are so much fun. It’s just the kind of place you’d like to go hang out in, even if you weren’t getting your hair cut!

Cindy always knows exactly what to do with my weird hair, Holly is super sweet and talented as well, and Thomas has the best hair-washing hands in the history of the universe.

Let me first say that I’ve been around the block when it comes to hair salons, the professional term is I «bounce». I even walked out of a salon recently because it just wasn’t for me. After my experience today at the Chop Shop Hair Studio I can say that it is definitely for me. It has an amazing atmosphere. The décor is so well done, very hip, fun, and beautiful. I feel that so much about where we shop is about how the space makes you feel. Cindy the owner has done a fantastic job creating a space that is very welcoming and fun. Cindy was my stylist and she was great. She definitely backs up the ambiance with talent. I felt that she really listened to me as I explained how I like my highlights and she was very professional. Her technique was solid and the results were just as I had wanted. I loved the music«classic country» mixed in with a little rock n roll –just like the sign says -«A little bit country, a little bit rock n roll, pure style». That really says it all. So if you are«bouncing» between salons, definitely make an appointment with the Chop Shop.
