I love this place. This is the second time we’ve stayed here and we will be returning! Clean, inviting, and tucked away. All the rooms are roomy yet cozy. The jungle sounds and chickens make for a nice soundtrack.

My husband and I stayed here over Memorial Day weekend after reading reviews on Unilocal.Lorna could not have been any nicer or more accommodating. We know there were others in the Inn but we did not hear other guests. Perfect location! We will be back.

It’s places like this that make me never want to stay in a hotel ever again. Renting a house or a room is so much more memorable so much more enjoyable than staying in a hotel. Kauai Banyan Inn was easy to rent, easy to find, and even easier to enjoy. My wife and I stayed in ‘The Cottage’ as we were looking for a more private experience than those staying in the main house. Our room was in it’s own little building with a lanai and a kitchen. When we arrived, it was around 10pm but it was still fairly easy to find the place when following the directions. The room was quaint and clean and the highlight was the welcoming basket! We were treated to some local fruits, nuts and trail mix, juices, pineapple bread, taro english muffins, and lots of leftover condiments in the fridge. This was a great touch as I love food. Besides the great room that we were treated to, the Inn had many amenities and convenient items for use. There was a hot tub(open from 8am-8pm), beach chairs, beach towels, snorkel gear, books, and plenty of local menus if looking for an idea about where to eat. The owner and caretaker, Lorna, was also very helpful and friendly. She gave us the tour of the property and was very excited to help us feel at home when we arrived. The location of the inn is also great. It is centrally located on the island so getting around is a little easier. For the value and experience, I would put this place up against any of the giant resorts and hotels on the island. It may not have as many high end luxuries, but who needs that when on an outdoor paradise such as Kauai. For anyone looking for an intimate, jungle getaway, I would highly recommend staying in the ‘The Cottage’ at Kauai Banyan Inn. The experience of staying at this inn will make any trip to Kauai better.

In a word — Awesome. A few words of advice — Do not miss out on this one! I arrived late in the evening and was greeted by a piece of paradise on the island of paradise, Kauai. I can’t even call it a room. I opened the door to discover a private lanai set along a breeze flowing through the various tropical trees. The unit I stayed in had a wonderful living area, combining a sitting area, bedroom, breakfast bar and kitchenette. To top it all off, the bathroom had a deep soaking tub. There were wonderful fruits, breads, nuts and cheeses for me to pick at. I left all of he windows and doors open and enjoyed the sounds of the wind and a breeze I can only describe as soft and therapeutic. Don’t miss out on this amazing gem on the beautiful island of Kauai!

Where we always stay. Lorna is always so welcoming and is there if you need anything at all.

Kauai Banyan Inn is a clean and lovely place… However, because of the lack of privacy, this is not for honeymooners, those who want to act like honeymooners, or those looking for quiet and privacy. The windows of the rooms open to a lenai — and on the opposite side of the room — to a courtyard. Because the weather is hot and humid, windows need to be open! This means that all persons staying at the hotel can hear and be heard almost as if we are all staying in one room. This is unfortunate as the rooms are clean, with high ceilings and cute kitchenette. It’s like staying in a very nice room at a youth hostel. Sorry to write a tempid review as the owner was welcoming and nice. — as a side note, I think the suites may have more privacy, but can’t say as I was in the main building.

My fiancée and I recently stayed 4 nights at the Kauai Banyan Inn(Milo suite) and were very pleased with our stay. The Banyan is an apartment-style lodging in Lawai(near Poipu), complete with refrigerator, microwave, and mini-kitchen, free wifi, and free parking. The owner and operator, Lorna, provided us with snorkeling gear and beach towels free of charge, and even had a gift basket of food for us upon our arrival. Staying at the Banyan is like staying at a rural countryside home, except that you get running water, electricity, and cable. The Banyan is located in a residential area just off Highway 50 and Koloa Road and is easy to miss since the street signs are small and because the streets are not well lit(especially challenging at night), so I would suggest either bringing or renting a dedicated GPS unit(or remembering that when you turn from the 50 onto Koloa Road, Mana Hema is 1.3 miles on your left). For those of you who are sensitive sleepers, Lorna provides earplugs to help with the crowing roosters(during our stay, they started crowing around 4 a.m. and continued crowing every few minutes). To help with the crowing, make sure you close all of your windows, as it does help tremendously. The facility also includes a washer($ 1.75) and dryer($ 1.00), which was an added bonus since we did not have to carry our unwashed clothes back with us in our suitcases(imagine how your clothes might smell after days of hiking and snorkeling). The Banyan is just north of Koloa and Poipu, and about 15 minutes from Lihue, where the airport is. We liked the location and really loved the charm of this little place. Additionally, the price was much more reasonable than the typical hotels on the island. We would definitely recommend staying here, and should we ever return to Kauai, we would definitely consider staying here again.

High class accommodations for a budget price and you get a little piece of the country side that few tourists experience. Lorna’s house is up in the highlands outside of Poipu, surrounded by mini-ravines, valley and mountain views, papaya trees and roosters(that she keeps of the immediate property through methods unknown). Made the trip to Kauai feel like a really fabulous visit to a favorite relative.
