LOVE! that Karen Conchenour! It has taken me over 10 years to find a person who knows how to LISTEN to me when it comes to my color and cuts… she is AWESOME! My hair has never been this happy and I cannot recommend her highly enough!

I was so excited to go to her… she is much closer to me than my orgional stylist and I was very happy with all the great reviews I read here!!! I just HAD to see what she was all about.
I waited two weeks to write this to avoid saying anything out of pure emotional impulse.
I went in with very long, THICK hair! I told her I just need a TRIM and SHAPING at the top of my crown… aka just «slicing the pie». I told her, «I love the thickness and length.»
I am very familiar with the Ouidad method. Ive been a Ouidad customer since 2011. She has been doing Ouidad since Aug 2015. She mentioned that I was the second customer she has ever had with «this much hair». Those should have been red flags, but I let her style it with faith that she knew what she was doing.
I left the salon with my hair styled, with what felt like a pound of gel… it felt weird but non the less my hair looked great.
The next day was when my nightmare began. *****
Washing my hair was terrible. My hair was in KNOTS. Not only was it in KNOTS but the THICKNESS WAS GONE. My hair is so thin now. I cant believe it. I have NEVER been able to say that my hair is «thin». I was so upset. I put my hair up for work like usual, it did not hold up in a bun, it was so small and kept falling out. I messaged her telling her I was very upset and she apologized, telling me that I need to use her gels, and her products… WHATTTTT???
Gels are terrible or your hair… they have ALCOHOL in them.
Her products have silicones in them… if you know anything about curly hair you willl know that silicones are terrible for your hair. thay bock moisture from reaching cuticle.
I leave you with this, I think Karen is great, she didnt chop ALL my hair hair off, like most stylist wold have. However I feel that she dosent have enough expirence with MIXED or NATURAL hair. To excel as a OUIDAD stylist (in my humble opion) you HAVE to be creative and know what will work for each DIFFRENT customer and diffrent curly types. On a good note, hair grows back, and its not permamanet damage.
I will continue going to my orgional stylist. If you would like my stylist’s info just message me; she is amazing. She has been doing hair for over 25 years.

My hair stylist switched professions and I was left to my own devices. I left a message with Karen at Mélange and she returned my call within a few hours. She was at the shop ready to go when I arrived. I have received so many compliments on the cut/​color and one co-​worker said «Don’t let her go!» Karen also told me about
where I can get a blow dry for that special date night. I’ll definitely be back!

Curly hair girls and boys, your search is over. Karen is the best for curly hair that I have found in the country. Previously having a job in which I traveled everywhere every week, I’ve had many Ouidad cuts in major cities. Karen is *by far* the best and from the first time she carved, sliced, and styled my hair. She asks the right questions and really listens to figure out what you really need — from the cut to the products. She has the most thorough technique and knows the products well, so be sure to let her know if what you’re currently using isn’t working. It’s easy for those with naturally curly hair to get used to dealing with products that don’t work optimally, when there might be something out there that works better. Anything Karen has suggested changing up in terms of the cut or products has made all the positive difference. I say her technique is thorough, but she also has a lot of natural and intuitive ability because, again, I’ve had a lot of Ouidad cuts by different Ouidad certified stylists. Karen is way better than all of them. Way better. She really knows hair.
She’s the darn sweetest and most beautiful person, too. She truly cares about her clients and makes sure what she is doing meets your needs and expectations as she goes, not just after. If you’re reading this, you probably know the nightmareS I’m talking about that come with naturally curly hair cut aftermath. Karen personalizes and customizes the cut like I’ve never experienced before. The salon is the cutest, too.
I am so happy to have finally found Karen to handle my naturally curly hair. I feel a civic duty to share this gem with other curly cues. Karen is awesome and amazing — the true curly hair goddess! And I love her!

Karen did a GREAT job on my hair! Having long curly hair I was really excited to learn that she is Ouidad Certified. *translation = this lady really knows how to make curls look their absolute best! I have been a fan of the Ouidad products for years but this was my first experience getting the Ouidad technique cut and style. My hair looked so amazing! Also, Karen is really fun and upbeat. She has beer or wine on hand if you like that kind of thing;) I highly recommend giving her a try.

Karen did an AMAZING job with my hair color! I have been getting my hair highlighted for 30 years and she is one of the best I have had work on my hair. Karen is also such a wonderful caring woman who is willing to take the time to talk to you about what you are looking for in a result. She is very very talented and knowledgeable. I know she does a lot of curly hair, but I have very fine straight blond hair :) She is the BEST!

After meeting my friend for dinner I noticed something different!!! I knew it was her hair it looked wonderful, her hair is kinda wavy and always messy… but that night it looked amazing I asked what she had done with her hair and she then told me she had a Ouidad done by Karen at Mélange hair salon.
I definitely had to get this gals info and schedule to come in for my own Ouidad. I called Karen the next day and she was very nice and pleasant on the phone she scheduled me to come in on Tuesday. When i walked in she greeted me with a big smile and was ready to do my hair. She offered me wine and crackers and we had a very nice conversation.
After about and hour my hair was ready, and let me tell you OMG, felt in love with the outcome. I was so happy with her work that i went ahead and booked an appointment, to get hair color, cut and style.

Karen is so amazing! I am a SMC student and i just wanted some partial highlights. I never did anything to my hair before her so I was extermly nervous. I went in and she knew exactly what to do. Super sweet and accommodating. I HIGHLY recommend her!

I had the most WONDERFUL experience with Karen! Having grown up with curly hair, I have always been incredibly sensitive about whom I let cut/​style/​color it. When I was younger, it did not matter which studio I went to or how «world-​renowned» the stylist working on my hair was. I always left my appointments feeling disappointed with the end result, and frustrated that I would never find a way to get my curls bouncy and healthy rather than frizzy and dry.
I met Karen a little under a year ago. I was immediately drawn to how calm and collected she is. After multiple short interactions between Karen and myself (primarily discussing hair and make-​up), she brought up a new course she was investing in; revolving specifically around curly hair. Already impressed that ANY stylist would put the time, money, and effort into such a feat, I was blown away when Karen invited me to participate in this program with her. As it turns out, the platform revolved entirely around OUIDAD Products (A line just for curls). In the past I had attempted using Ouidad, with little to no knowledge around how to work with my hair in collaboration with this line of products; this experience however, was completely different!
ONE short visit with Karen, and I was almost in tears I was so happy to see the difference in my hair! Not only that, but very minimal cuts were made to my hair (maybe 1 cups worth of hair on the floor; if even that much), little to no heat was needed during the styling process, and she was soooooo incredibly focused and ready to learn about how to work with my curls!
I am currently only using Ouidad products and I feel better about my hair, now more than ever! Not to mention, even my mother has noticed a huge difference! ;)
I will ABSOLOUTLY return to Karen for my next cut/​color/​style. She is passionate about what she does, always ready to learn, and an all-​around beautiful person.

Karen is soooooo amazing!!! She is like the hair goddess! After having a horrible experience at a different salon, I decided to call Karen and although I was very hesitant due to fear of someone messing up my hair, she assured me that there was nothing to worry about.
So we went on and made and appointment for Monday morning at 10am. When I arrived she greeted me the moment I walked in. Since I was getting a cut and color, she had everything prepared for me. While doing my hair, we had great conversation and she even went out her way to get me water, wine, and snacks. How lovely. Karen was so gentle and she made sure I was comfortable with everything she was doing. The hair cut came out amazing, and don’t get me started on the color. It was the perfect ombré. My hair looked silky and soft. She even blow dried and styled my hair!
I definitely would recommend Karen to all my friends and will be back when I need change!
