We love everything about this school! The programs and the staff go above and beyond your expectations. Our son has been with the Lake Oswego SoR since they have opened and it has been so great for him and our family. Love seeing his talent grow so rapidly and he is just so happy and comfortable on stage, which probably would not have happened without all the experience that they have gained from the programs. We have recommend this school to others and will continue to do so! We just can’t say enough about School of Rock!

School of Rock Lake Oswego is more than a music school: it’s a supportive and fun community in which both kids and adults can learn music by actually performing on stage. The owners and the music teachers are the greatest people, super caring and sweet, and they make everyone who walks through the door feel welcome and competent and comfortable. Everyone learns a lot faster, because it’s super fun to play in a band, on stage, and rock out!

This is great program for both kids and adults. My kids look forward to their lessons and the performance rehearsals where they really are able to develop new friendships and camaraderie with the other kids in the shows. The instructors and owners of this location treat everyone with respect and push the students, kids and adults alike, to improve at all times. They provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for students no matter what their level of musicianship. The rehearsals and shows held for adult students are a great opportunity for those of us who were never in a band to be able to know what it’s like to rock out on stage and feel that excitement. It’s my favorite night of the week.

My son and daughter have been a part of the School of Rock Lake Oswego family since they opened. It’s been such a wonderful experience full all of us. The owners, Kathy and Jon, treat my kids like they are family, watching out for them and helping them grow in their music. The Music Director Adam, challenges my kids, pushing them to continue to grow, each in their own talents and abilities. The environment is so positive and so diverse in the love of music. The performance program allows both children and parents to enjoy the result of the practices. I am so happy a friend recommended School of Rock for my kids and that they get to be a part of something that provides an outlet and direction for their musical abilities.

Just went to another season ending performance and we still enthusiastically support this place. Our son has gotten great instruction and a fantastic experience. From the parent side they have always been helpful, friendly, and great to deal with.

We found SOR about 6 months ago, and it has been transformative for my kids. They’ve already played a gig and they’ve both become immersed in music. The people who run SOR are genuinely nice folks and the instructors are great. Very patient with the kids, very knowledgable about music. If you’re thinking about doing it, don’t hesitate!

New School of Rock is perfect for my kids. My son just completed a two week«Beatles» camp this summer and loved it. It was a small group with lots of attention from the instructors. The group picked songs they wanted to play, practiced each day and eventually recorded a CD. Each student went into a studio to record their part. Finally, at the end of two weeks they performed live in two concert venues. I cried. I can’t recommend this place enough. We have been to the other School of Rock and they are great as well but this one suit’s my son better. Located in Lake Oswego it’s not overly«Rocker» style. The couple who own/run the place are Jon and Kathy Graf. They take a lot of time with the kids and the parents to make sure everyone feels comfortable and enjoys the experience. My daughter is signed up for the«Led Zepplin» camp in August. Can’t wait. If you kids have any interest in learning to play in a band, this is the place. Can’t say enough good things.

What an awesome place for young musicians! SoR brings rockers of all ages together in a relaxed, informal venue that gives them the opportunity to talk music, learn music and play music… together! Our son has been taking lessons for years, but never had an outlet to perform, a problem other parents have told us they have, as well. SoR solves that problem for all the students who don’t take lessons right there. In addition to his guitar, our son is now playing bass on a couple songs and singing lead on a couple songs, as well as helping some of the younger kids learn their Led Zeppelin parts. How cool is that?! We can’t wait for performance night at the Star!

SOR Lake Oswego is fantastic! We enrolled our 15yr old son for Bass since they opened in the Fall 2013… and all I can say is that Carl, Jon, Adam and Kathy are a top notch team. We followed Adam for Bass instruction from SOR Portland and for good reason. We have had our son in various Guitar lesson programs in the PDX area over the last 3 years and by far, SOR is the best experience and training. Not only has each instructor perfected his Guitar technique he learned previously, he is also challenged with songs to master containing new techniques over a stretch of Genres. The independent lessons combine performance song mastery and a bit of music theory, but the best part are the Jam Sessions which are more than valuable for learning to play in a band — how much practice it takes to master songs, matching skill sets to the right song, etc. It’s worth the cost when you see your young star perform at their concerts and give the kids the best foot forward in what it takes to get to perform. I’ve not enjoyed recitals this much EVER! Looking forward to the Pink Floyd performance February 8th @ the Star Theatre downtown PDX! AND Led Zepplin after that can it get any better.

What a great idea! Learning the fundamentals of music theory by playing the music you love in a band setting! Performing at well-known rock venues with your friends. This place is fantastic — it’s a truly non-judgmental, supportive environment where kids can explore music, share ideas, and develop their abilities — while building long-lasting friendships. The instructors are experienced, working musicians who are always so excited to see their students grow and expand their abilities. My daughter has been part of the School of Rock for 3 years. She started out as a vocalist, and now plays guitar and bass. Her confidence has grown in so many areas, and I attribute much of that to the encouragement she has received from the instructors and her bandmates. I trust these people with my kid — and that is probably the highest compliment I can give!
