Damn good drinks, food and service, and we’ve visited every classy restaurant in Lancaster(County) over the years. Athena is a wonderful hostess and her staff is first class. Moving away soon and we will sorely miss the Stockyard. God bless. Lee and Peggy.

Despite previous reviews on Unilocal,my family(3 teens) and I decided we would like to try this restaurant, what a pleasant surprise! The staff was everything you would expect, and beyond, from a five star restaurant, and the food was absolutely amazing. Finding a restaurant that serves and prepares flawlessly prepared prime rib has become a very big challenge. If you are given the time and opportunity to dine here… do it!

I can’t remember when I’ve enjoyed a better meal. I had a salad to start — with homemade balsamic… delicious! Then I enjoyed the beef tenderloin tips which were in a red wine, wild mushroom reduction… wow! I paired everything with a delicious Malbac and finished with a slice of pecan pie. Just amazing an experience!

My family and I have been coming here for years. Happy to report that the standard hasn’t changed at all. This is the best prime rib and dry aged delmonica you’ll ever get, service is Great and attentive, don’t understand people complaining about the price whenever I visit my family in Lancaster we always have good dinning experience.

If you like waiting to be seated amongst total disorganization, a waiter who hangs by the table while you are having conversation, $ 45 steak(both filet and delmonico) that had way too much fat and had the texture of bazooka bubble gum, veggies that were tasteless; all in a tired, WAY outdated décor… then Stockyard is for you. There are a dozen really good Lancaster restaurants that have you feeling like you are in a special environment with great food. Stay away!

Always great food and great service. My husband and I have been coming here for about 6 years. We always thought that it was too formal for us but we showed up one Saturday evening on our motorcycle wearing jeans without reservations and they gladly seated and served us and treated us wonderfully. The crab cakes are the best we’ve ever had and I love the seafood mixed grill. We will be there for Valentines Day this year.

First time visitor this weekend. Older crowd, white table cloth atmosphere reminiscent of a formal dining experience from years ago. Bar area was a traditional«dark oak» with some solid tap beer choices and a nice array of wines by the glass. Bartenders were professional and competent. Ended up eating from the bar menu. They indicated that the portions were a little smaller but they were ample. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked with an exceptional Gorgonzola topping that melded well with the seared outside and made it exceptionally flavorful. My wife’s salmon was above average but a little on the dry side. The waiter was friendly, competent and not overly intrusive but professional. Would definitely go there again and try some other dishes but they are known for their beef. Their former burger joint called Jimmie’s was better than 5 guys.

Went here recently for lunch. We were the only ones there, so hard to judge service, but it was fine that day. Food was good.

Wow, how can I give this establishment a rating of negative stars? What a terribly unfriendly, unpleasant, unbelievable experience. Having recently moved to the area, we thought we would try another new restaurant. Stopped in on the later side to share a bottle of wine, a meal and some appetizers at the bar. The bartender tried to tell us to leave as they were so, so busy and it would be an hour’s wait for our food. We thought we’d have a few appetizers and try it anyway. She all but refused to serve us, because they were so, so, so busy with a banquet upstairs. Incredibly unprofessional and unfriendly. Can’t comment on the food since we never had any. There are so many wonderful restaurants and friendly people in Lancaster, don’t bother with the Stockyard.

I feel it to be my due diligence to warn patrons against this establishment. How they continue to operate is beyond me. Their kitchen is full of violations including improperly stored seafood and produce, Cutting boards and knives being shared between the salad station and butcher, lemons being recycled from table to table, and insects. Just to name a few. I warn against going there for any occasion, unless you are looking to get food poisoning.

Had a great surprise when I got to the stockyard, my family was there to great me for my birthday. Great surprise set up by my girlfriend. The atmosphere was great at the stockyard. Our waiter, Hunter was friendly and very knowledgeable and made the experience even more enjoyable. I had the delmonico steak that was melt in your mouth good. Only complaint was the garlic mash potatoes really had no garlic taste. All 10 people in our party had a great meal. Thank you for a birthday to remember.

To appreciate the Stockyard one must slow down, unplug and simply relax for a bit. A meal enjoyed with loved ones, friends or business associates without the background vibe of our electronic world. Appreciate the history, ambiance and service as well as perfectly prepared food — complex in these terms, unrelated to buzz. On our arrival Friday evening we were greeted warmly by the staff, despite being thirty plus minutes late. We had excellent service by Gabrielle as well as attentive support staff. Wine, salads, all courses were pleasantly presented, carefully paced and generous in description and portion as well as delicious. Try the Stockyard Inn for the pleasure and perspective of a stately meal, not staid or frumpy but a unique style worth experiencing.

Just left there 10 mins ago. Terrible service… Food for an old pallet. Will not go back! On a lighter note. The Bartender was fantastic. For GREAT food at a reasonable price go to the LUCKYDOG on Columbia Ave!

11 family members besieged this high end restaurant Saturday night and frankly I was disappointed. While they gave us a private room and our server was an extremely nice guy who tried hard, but it took at least 15 minutes to get a menu. He kept saying«she’s getting the menus.» Where is «she» getting them, across the street? Upon being seated, he asked for drinks and we didn’t even have a wine list. Finally menus arrived from who knows where, and we were quickly asked to order. While I can order almost immediately, I’ve found that women, particularly my lovely wife, like to take some time(often too much time) before choosing. They reversed the old adage, hurry up and wait — cuz we waited then hurried up. Food arrived. My lamb chops were excellent, tad too much fat but I like fat. The snapper soup was clove happy and had suspicious entrails hanging off the spoon, looked remarkably like bilge. We passed it around and no one liked it. Others thought their meals were okay to good — no statements like«this is to die for.» which is why I can’t remember what they had. And at 56 bucks a person(with tip), the only thing that died was my xmas budget. Plus they were out of Chimay beer. Then I go to get my coat and hat from the coat room and they can’t find my hat. And it’s a fancy fedora, makes even me look distinguished(no easy task). But the kid finally found it on the floor — geez. I wanted to like this place, they’ve been through hell with the construction on that bridge lasting eons. But I probably ain’t going back. We still left good tip for server because he was a nice guy. I almost wanted him to be a jerk so we could stiff him and save money. But he worked hard and did his best with the dysfunctional crew he was serving… once he located the menus.

I have been here several times over the years. About every two years I have to be reminded why I don’t go. I stopped for a quick lunch yesterday, my mistake. The service was extremely slow. The server did me a favor after about 20 minutes and took my order. The food is okay. There are many high end options in Lancaster, try one that values it’s customers.

First, let me preface that while I was sitting in Stockyard Inn, I was angry and vowed I would never return. The waitress flat out sucked. She was absent for most of the time, and did not attend to my table. The surrounding tables that had a different waiter received good service, but not me. This place is fancier, so just be prepared for chandelier lighting and a pricey menu. The Stockyard Inn’s history is very interesting. It used to be owned by a president and is one of the longest running steakhouses in the USA.(Look it up.) Ok, so why I’m giving 4 stars and I have gone back within 3 days of my terrible waitress experience: THEFOOD. I got a no frills, straight-forward burger. Their signature burger, which was made up of ground filet mignon trimmings. I ordered it medium. It was the juiciest, most delicious burger I can remember ever having. Wow. Delicious.

For years I went to the. Stockyards. Have returned an a real treat. Service fantastic and meal very good. This old place just has a charm to it after all these years. If you want something without something they do provide the change.

Took a while to place drink orders. My friend ordered a «dry Manhattan, with a twist of lemon, on the rocks» He received a standard Manhattan, made with sweet, not white, vermouth, with a cherry, served up. When he requested what he originally ordered, he then received what appeared to be a standard Manhattan on the rocks, with a wedge of lemon. The«signature» snapper soup was way salty, and had mysterious very hard chunks of something in it. My tenderloin tips were OK. Some were a bit gristly; most were tender.
