I just a iced Carmel coffee. Delicious refreshing, made perfect. Starbucks is the best.

I am not a Star$$$ fan. I love coffee that tastes good at its base and does not require extra processing(read, latte, capp, etc.) to make it palatable. So, it is always somewhat surprising to see these little coffee caves sprout up in supermarkets and box stores and do moderately well. I admit to having been a happy stockholder for a while, but that did not change my opinion of the underlying product. So, I was skeptical when I walked into Target a few years ago, and several times since, to see this outpost hanging its shingle within. It is still there, but seems to be scraping along with only one person running the operation. Some people like to sip java as they push their shopping carts around the store. A few actually stop in only for the coffee and depart. It would be great if there were more coffee alternatives around here. Until then, this place and the competing Dunkin Donuts and diners of the world will duke it out for my coffee dollar.

I’ve been to this Starbucks many times, and I’ve never had a good experience. There are certain things that I know are out of the control of the baristas, such as: 1. Only one employee working at a time, therefore he/she works both the register and as a barista. With a long line, or even just a line of 2 – 3 people, this can take up to 20 minutes. 2. Running out of ingredients/the blenders breaking — both of these happened on my most recent visit. 3. They don’t accept birthday rewards(the free drink you get on your birthday as a Gold Card member). What IS, however, in the control of the baristas is the quality of the beverages and their attitudes. It’s just impossible for them to get a drink right. Even the most common and the most simple of drinks(i.e. Caramel Macchiato, vanilla latte, etc.) are always so way off, that I end up just throwing it away… and that’s after having them re-make it. Yeah, if you can get to an actual Starbucks, don’t waste your time here.

Friendly, fast service, drinks are as expected. Limited seating that isn’t always neat or clean, but remember this Starbucks is in a Target so they have a zillion people with carts and little kids going in and out constantly. They’re very fast and I’ve never seen a huge or slow-moving line, which is nice because i usually want to get my chai and get the heck out of there. I’d recommend going before you do your shopping if you want to sit and nurse your drink or snack, as the sitting area really isn’t large enough to allow lots of carts and bags unless it’s basically empty. One or two small bags are fine, but if you’ve stocked up for the end of the world, put your stuff in the car and then come back in.

For such a small location, they’re always prompt and friendly. I’ve never had a bad drink and the pastries are great too. Target & Coffee — all in one place — what more do you need?
