Amazing customer service! In las vegas this is a rarity. Irida was the rep who answered the phone today(and she was great) but everyone here is equally awesome. This company should hold seminars on customer service and every company in Las Vegas should attend. To think, they called me first before my script was due, they have multiple ways of delivering meds to you. Amazing. Usually i have to chase people and leave messages that never get returned. Thank you avella, because of you i have one less thing to worry about.

This specialty pharmacy has a kind staff, outstanding service, and great prices. I spoke with three staff members while getting meds for IVF, they called immediately to try and put some meds through my insurance if possible, and to ask if I was in the savings programs. Later she returned my call with a cost, and delivery plan. Excellent Service. If you are wanting reduced IVF medication prices, Avella takes part in a couple of programs others in the area do not. First, sign up for Design RX before you need the meds which reduces the IVF meds by a bit. Second, Avella used another plan, First Steps to reduce some others by 5% or so. If you are a Veteran, check out Fertility Lifelines and their Compassionate Care(automatic 25% discount, up to 75% discount) and Compassionate Corps(service connected injury affecting fertility — 100% free EMD Serono meds, you pay about 1K out of pocket for remaining meds). But you need to apply to these programs right after the consult with doc, do your research a bit early so you get all the discounts you deserve. Avella’s pharmacist took the time to sit down with me and go through the entire contents of the bag, and explained the self injections. Todd was extremely kind and knowledgeable. The med bag contained everything I would need without even asking: a home sharps container, alcohol wipes, needles, and meds. Best pharmacy service I have ever received.

I’m impressed with the level of service in this pharmacy. Everyone I have dealt with has been nice and professional so far. The people at Avella helped me get assistance with paying for my meds before my insurance kicked in. I’ve had issues with my insurance as far as needing prior authorizations for my meds and I did not know that. They helped me get started with the prior auth and also helped me to obtain a short term supply so that I wouldn’t go without it in the meantime. I’ve never been to a pharmacy that went above and beyond to help their customers. Other pharmacies would just tell me to call my insurance and tell me I need something like a pre-auth(something I initially didn’t know what it was and I’m sure a lot of others don’t know as well) and leave me confused. They deserve 5 stars because without their help I probably would have been without my prescription for a while not knowing what I needed to do. I will keep going there for my long term specialty meds for as long as I’m on this prescription and as long as my insurance covers that pharmacy. Satisfied customer here :-)

Avella Specialty Pharmacy,(formerly the Apothecary Shops). The name has changed, the store has moved, some policy’s have changed. That’s what happens over time, thing unfortunately change. After my fiancé received a kidney transplant in 2007 at Sunrise Hospital, her new medications prescribed from her nephrologist were ordered through the Apothecary Shops Specialty Pharmacy. The transplant nurse coordinator at Sunrise placed the order for the new medications before my fiancé was discharged from the hospital. When she was released from the hospital the Apothecary Shops had the new medications ready along with other medications that she was still going to need which were transferred from her previous pharmacy. The adjustment between pharmacies was flawless and a pleasant experience. The new medications prescribed after the transplant had a whole new schedule and instructions to follow. They also would come with some pretty awful side effects. Tom the pharmacist at that time sat down with us to discuss each particular medication. In detail he explained how and when to take each medication. He explained all instructions that needed to be followed with each medicine, and he explained what side effects to expect when she would begin to take them. The Anti-Rejection immunosuppressive medication regiment was initially a very complicated task which changed your lifestyle immediately, to be timed around your dosage hour. Before we left the Apothecary Shop, Tom the pharmacist had us completely understanding every step of the new medication regiment. We were able to go home and begin the medication with detailed instructions on what to do and what to expect. When a question or concern with the medications came up, we could contact the Apothecary Shops with our question and receive personal one to one customer service and detailed answers to our questions that would be explained to us as a patient and not a medical provider. When they answered our calls responding to us by our names, we never were placed on hold and always helped promptly. Medications refills were filled and the pharmacy would always have the medications filled and ready before the last months supply was run out. We never had to call to refill a prescription. If the medicine had no more refills left the Apothecary Shop would contact the nephrologist and get a new prescription before the last supply would run out. Because of this pharmacies complete obligation to filling the medication supply on time, we never once had to worry about the supply of medication running out. After several years of unprecedented service from the Apothecary Shops, we learned the pharmacy would be moving to a new location and changing its name. Avella was born, and they decided close the store in Summerlin and debut their new pharmacy on shadow lane, which had been the second location for the Apothecary Shops. With both locations across the street from hospitals. The new Avella on Shadow Lane is in the center of the Medical district serving Valley Hospital, University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, and the many medical offices in between. Our first visit to this new location was madness and the pharmacy was packed with patients. I knew the staff had their work cut out form them and that the service of the previous pharmacy would change with new management. To my surprise, the pharmacy staff was able to adjust into the new working environment and handle the much larger influx of patients. In time The Apothecary Shops Pharmacy was in the past and the new Avella pharmacy is where we have continued to have my fiancés medications filled every month. The new Avella pharmacy sends a text message to our phone when the next refill is due to be filled. Simply texting them back allows them to fill your medications and they are ready to be picked up by the time you arrive to the store. Every Pharmacist and technician are really wonderful people and make us feel right at home when we walk into the shop. Avella always bills the insurance correctly and we are never delayed by hiccups in that department. We have been coming to this pharmacy for years and will continue to use Avella Specialty Pharmacy for many, many years to come. Thank you for your excellent service over the years

I used Avella because they had to compound meds that I couldn’t get at other pharmacies in the valley. They were very patient with me as I sorted out issues and miscommunications with my doctor’s office and insurance company. They were always kind and very tolerant over the phone as I asked questions(many of them over and over) and were very easy to work with. They had convenient options for getting my medications to me on time… free delivery to my home or doctor’s office or pickup from the pharmacy… One of the other reviewers mentioned that they helped her locate coupons. I wish they had done that for me as I had expressed concern about the cost of these prescriptions not covered by insurance, but didn’t know whether or not coupons existed(and still don’t, so maybe this is a moot point). One star off because one of the medications did not come with an information pamphlet(yes, I actually do read those, LOL), although I’ve been told by out of state friends that they didn’t get one for the same prescription, so maybe it’s up to the doctor to educate the patient for this particular medication. Overall this is a nice establishment to deal with, which is great because it’s apparently the only place in the valley where I could have gotten these prescriptions filled.

I have had excellent experiences with Avella. They do refills very quickly. The meds that have to be made elsewhere were overnight shipped to my home. As for the cost of meds, clearly specialty meds are expensive but Avella has helped me locate coupons and allowed me to reuse the coupons again and again, saving me quite a bit of money. In addition, the location is very centrally located. Only negative is a very small parking lot out front, but that’s no big deal. I’m very pleased and the staff is pleasant.

When it was Apothecary, my meds were sent on time and everything was great. The second it went to Avella, nothing but issues. I originally planned for my meds to be to mailed to me. A couple of times, they were late because of their negligence. Several months later, I did not receive my monthly supply and called, only to be notified that they had not received permission from my doctor for the refills, only to find out it was lie. Next, I was told they didn’t contact me because«there was a glitch with their system». This month, I, once again, did not receive my meds for the exact same reason as before. Avella, you are playing with people’s health and their lives and I will not let you gamble with my health anymore.

Apothocary Shops… now Avella Specialty Pharmacy… well it was great when was Apothocary Shops, very attentive and never had a problem filling a prescription, then when it switched to Avella, EVERYTHING went wrong!!! Suddenly my prescriptions couldn’t be filled here in Vegas any longer? Not sure what that’s about? They had to be filled in AZ… talk about a flakey pharmacy and mailed to me. They couldn’t get the prescription right the first month, second month they tripled my co payment? Now it’s time for my prescription to be filled for the 3rd month and this morning they tell me they can’t fill it because they don’t have the medicine and won’t have it for another week!!! Really??? I’M DONE!!! I found a more reputable specialty pharmacy today that is clearly on the ball(thank you Partell) I would never recommend Avella to anyone! Not professional ATALL! CS
