The famous Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas closed this week. For good. No makeover, no upgrades, no facelift. The building will be imploded. But the Crazy Girls Show and well known bronze Crazy Girls Sculpture is moving to Planet Hollywood. Whew! We wouldn’t want all that talent to be melted and returned to Shidoni for a future life. Or would we? Hmmmmm. .. . let me think on that!

This is just one of those little things you will find on the strip that screams«Las Vegas!» Unveiled in 1997, the Crazy Girls Bronze Sculpture is located just in front of the Riviera Hotel and Casino. The sculpture is basically the backsides of seven dancers from the«Crazy Girls» topless show that plays inside. Even as a tourist, I thought it was an amusing site and great for a photo opp! There isn’t a whole lot to see at the Riv these days, but if you find yourself up there, check this out since you’re already there! It’s cheesy. It’s fun. It’s quintessential Vegas! 4 stars.

You know what’s creepy? When you lean over and notice they don’t have faces. It looks like their hair is an empty scoop of a hood with nothing there. They’re facing a wall so there’s no point in paying to commission the front of their heads, but it’s still creepy all the same. Maybe the artist is trying to take some stance, saying these women are objectified to the point that they’ve lost their identity? Or… what if the artist meant that it didn’t matter what they looked like? They’re all empowered equals, standing defiantly as if to say, «So you can see our asses, what of it?» It’s Vegas. Don’t overthink it. With how shiny their *cough* cheeks are, it’s probably the most man-handled and rubbed sculpture you’ll ever see. A statue of the Crazy Girls«butt line-up» getting categorized as «Local Flavor» for Vegas is the most fitting thing I’ve ever seen of anything put under that label for any city.

No trip to the Riviera is complete without taking a totally compromising picture with the Crazy Girls statue. Grab, touch, kiss, caress and do all other sorts of naughty things to the girl’s butts — its all good, cause the next people there are waiting to do the same thing! You just can’t help but laugh. From the drunk sorority girls that were there before us posing as part of the statue, to the family that came after laughing as their little girl ran up to put her hands on their butts to my husband and I kneeling to kiss them — oh so fun and so very Vegas. This is almost as much fun as the show itself!

I have visited the bronze a few times when I’ve been at the Riviera. To me, it screams, «Las Vegas!» What better way to celebrate the adult entertainment past and present of Las Vegas than to cast the women and have the casts made into a bronze displaying their rears at the front of the hotel. I like the whimsical nature of the bronze and I just have to smile when I see those bronze buns. I rubbed them once but not for luck. Just for the laughs! Go see it!
