Bottom line the guy tipped himself, he stole from me. We Stumbled upon this place on our way to sprout’s. I’m familiar with the other location on Tropicana and Eastern. Those guys are great friendly and always keep the place spotless. Never mind tipping them. So when walking in, I was immediately making comparisons. It was smaller. The freezers look little old. And the paletas were in open plastic bags and frozen chocolate bananas were just sitting piled on one another in the freezer. Maybe they’re stored like this normally but it felt a little odd. Regardless We ordered a mangoneada. It was great. Paid for it with card. I noticed their register was different. It’s one of those tablet ones. I signed. He took it back and asked if I wanted a receipt. Realizing I signed without realizing how much I was charged I agreed. Then as he’s printing my receipt it occurs to me how this system sucks for him because it didn’t offer a tip option like most tablet and regular registers do. How this poor man was limited to cash tips and how I am one of many people who pay card and don’t always have cash to tip. Then I get my receipt and see that this gentlemen tipped himself. Honestly I would have tipped him. But the principle of the matter is he likely took it back from me after I signed and assigned himself a tip. If I hadn’t asked for my receipt. What then? How many other customers does he steal from this way? If I were being naïve I’d say the system automatically takes the tip. But I’m not dumb. I was pretty pissed and I decided never to return to this location.
