Great spot to kick the feet up and throw back some solid spicy margaritas and four roses on the rocks late at night with some great company.

Good selection of whiskies but not a cocktail bar. Good to have a dram or two of your favorite whisky on the rocks.

What a great place, if you’re a whiskey fan! If you like your whiskey straight on the rocks or if you like sweet and fruity, or anywhere in between, they’ve got a drink for ya! The waitress was very patient(with our rather large and slightly indecisive group) and extremely helpful in making suggestions. Per her suggestion, I got the Down Home Punch and Whiskey in a Jar. Both were amazing. Others for an Old Fashion which they enjoyed very much. This was a nice getaway from all the casino glam. It’s a cozy, dimly light place with oversized vintage furniture. Kind feels like you’re in a fancy version of the Wild West with live music and great drinks!

One of the best casino bars I’ve found. At the MGM. The best place to play blackjack in a relaxed setting, with comped drinks from the bar. Awesome whisky drinks — try Whiskey in a Jar(watermelon cocktail) and JD honey whiskey shots! Great tunes as well.

It’s a great bar to drink and people watch. Plus you can sit and smoke a cigar in some nice leather chairs.

Bad service. Had been looking forward to try Pappy Van Winkle for months. When I went to order the waitress acted like I couldn’t afford it. Insulted I still tried to order then she went to check and said it was out of stock. So I just ordered one of their mixed cocktails which tasted like any other.

If cast cocktails is what you are looking for, Whiskey Down is hands down store in Las Vegas. Dark woods and big leather chairs take you away from the noisy casino floor of the MGM, so you can relax and enjoy a stiff pour with perhaps a cigar. The servers are busy, however when it’s your time, they are very attentive and helpful. There are card gaming table with $ 25/$ 50 minimum bets, video gaming, and several TVs tactfully placed. MGM is not my favorite hotel, but Whiskey Down is always a stop for me.

This is a great bar for craft whiskey cocktails! We walked in an sat on a couch to take a breather from the casino floor and we were warmly greeted by a cocktail server. We weren’t sure what to order, but when I mentioned my love of a well-crafted Old Fashioned, she perked up and claimed they had the best in town. I took her up on this claim and discovered that their Old Fashioned was indeed one of the best I’ve ever had. The drink was balanced in its ingredients with much care and time taken to muddle the sugar and bitters into the black cherry. It was smooth, which the spicy bite of Bulleit Rye dancing around the cherry. A great drink with great service!

Such a great time here. I had the best bartenders, Trina was wonderful, she got me drunk, she recommended the best whiskeys, and made my night! Thank you Trina!!!

Great selection and nice to have a classy place close by to escape the rift raft wandering around.

The bar sits in the center of the gaming floor and is very attractive, part western, part modern it’s just inviting and handsome. There are some signs that advertise«craft cocktails» «prohibition drinks» and the like. We went in on a slow Wednesday 12⁄16 at 10:30PM and it was fairly dead, maybe 10 people at the bar. I normally have wine but the idea of a retro prohibition cocktail sounded appealing. I asked Greg, the bartender if he knew how to make the classic Cocktail The Sidecar. Greg assured me, yes, he could, so I ordered it. We watched him work his magic, first he heavily sugared a martini glass rim, then got a glass shaker cup and added a good 2 ounces of Captain Morgan Spiced Rum, a hit of pre-made sweet & sour mix and a hit of Triple Sec. For the record a proper Sidecar is a simple drink, 3 ingredients; Cognac, fresh lemon juice and Cointreau. We proceeded to tell Greg we weren’t sure what he had just concocted but one thing was certain, it was not a Sidecar. To our shock, he insisted it was and basically said we were wrong. I suggested he Google the drink. He was totally arrogant, rather than leave the bar I ordered a Stella Artois, which he promptly rang up and put a bill in front of me even though we were playing video poker. I waited for some type of apology that never came. Avoid this place, nice décor only goes so far, the staff is untrained, lacking basic spirits knowledge and worse, arrogant. There are so many better bars within walking distance.

Went here last night(11÷25÷15 at 1:00 am) and probably had a top-five worst cocktail of all time. The waitress had to read directions out of a book. After I ordered nobody even asked if it was good, probably because they knew it wasn’t. Anyway, steer clear. If management wants to discuss ideas for improvement you may call me at(360220‑2100). — Paul

Stopped in at Whiskey Down for a quick beer. It was a cute interior, but given how empty it was I would have expected slightly more attentive service. It was clean and relatively quiet, so a nice place for a little stop.

Had a very nice whisky cocktail with ginger beer. Their combinations were very creative and they have a good whiskey selection. Service is a little slow but we were in a hurry so it may be ok if you’re just lounging.

We started every night at Whiskey Down, and if it was still open, finished our night here, too. Between the convenient location within the MGM, the random happy hour specials, proximity to Blackjack tables, and the sweet, efficient servers, this was our perfect spot for meetups, pregames, gambling reprieves, and tell-all’s of the people we met during the day. This bar has a slightly upscale feel to it with a nice drink menu and a good secluded feel from the gambling floor. Our first night in Vegas(and MGM) I stuck to my trusty Tito’s and soda with lime. After four, my total was $ 18. I don’t even understand how that’s possible. The following night, my husband’s Manhattan’s were half price. It was like happy hour specials roulette, you never knew what you’d land on! And despite the bar’s name, there are a lot of other options to sip on. I didn’t have any wine, but as long as Tito’s is behind the bar, I’ll be parked in front of it. If you’re staying in MGM, this is your perfect pregame«neighborhood» bar to hit before your night out.

Stopped with a relative in town staying at MGM who also loves whiskey! She got sound advice from a bartender on which drink to try and I had a version of a Moscow mule which was fine. We got to chat with the bartenders and before long my cousin was chatting with a tourist or 2. For some reason they decided that a shot with a pickle(juice) chaser was a good idea(I did not) but I’m all for watching a bit of debauchery on the Strip! It was even better that one guy thought he was getting apple juice! There is gaming at the bar and the place has a bit of an old school vibe. It’s pretty comfy too and the friendly staff was definitely an enhancement to our visit.

Came here for a fun drink before heading to the nightclub, haakkasan. I ordered one of the red wines, and my friend ordered a scotch. The wine was horrible, and the scotch had a really bad burned-rubber after taste. We basically got ignored for about 30 minutes and when we asked for water it never came. Staff was kind of snooty and definitely treated the gentlemen there better than my girlfriend and I. Not a fan.

You get to a certain age and beer just doesn’t cut it anymore. Don Draper has changed the drinking lifestyle to look cool when having a cocktail. This is the place to get the best whisky and scotch drinks. Plenty of choices with some exclusively to Whiskey Down. Old fashioned and Sazerac drinks with good music played by a DJ. No cover. Close restroom and nice chairs, tables and barstools. Don’t pass this place up on your way from the valet to Hakkasan. You won’t regret it

This place has a ton of potential, but it is not anywhere close to that level yet. It is in a prime location. The bar is large with a few different seating options. There are a few high minimum black jack tables inside. The décor and set up is cool. There are plenty of televisions to catch the game on. They have a great selection of whiskey and scotch. There are several uncommon options of both, including several high end choices. The problem is the drinks are priced like a high end establishment, but the staff and clientele are not at that level. I get that it is impossible to control in a casino, but if I am going to pay for top shelf booze, I expect at least a minimum level of civility. I guess I am just getting old and grumpy. The staff was nice, but not well versed in the fine selection they had available to them. I also overheard one of them telling a customer next to me he was not that good at mixing drinks. I guess at least he is at a whiskey bar so many of the drinks will be neat or on the rocks. Later in the evening a DJ came in. She played a good selection of music, but clearly was playing a preset set list and was not mixing the songs at all. Not a horrible thing, but if that is all your are going to get save the money and let Pandora handle the music.
