I love the SconeLady! Coffee is on point! I did have a scone, it wasn’t as moist and sweet as I liked, but still super delicious! Forget Starbucks! SconeLady is where it’s at!

Best Korean food in Lawrence! We eat the bulgogee and it was fantastic. The chef is a friendly and very willing to help you if you have any questions about the menu.

Thought I’d grab a little coffee after lunch. This hidden gem is found in the same small strip mall as Mediterranean Market. Two great businesses in the most unassuming of locations. I enjoyed the friendly staff and the latte was just perfect. A wide selection of scones, obviously, but also loose leaf teas and coffee beans for purchase at what seem to be very reasonable prices. Looking forward to having coffee here again! It is also a quiet spot to study or work.

I searched through the reviews and was shocked there were negative ones. Some people invite negative attention when they act a certain way and I’m certain that’s the case for the negative reviews. If you walk into a place with an attitude there is only so much someone could take. As for the business hours it’s a family owned and operated business and people run late. Not the end of the world especially when the product they serve is beyond compare. I had their toasted banana and it was by far the most delicious latte I have ever had. The woman who greeted my was kind and attentive. I was surprised by their different milk offerings, they have everything but buttermilk and why would they. They also had coffee ice cubes! This place clearly care a great deal about coffee and what they serve if they are to go to extent of making their own ice cubes from coffee.

It’s a shame this coffee shop doesn’t have more reviews! I almost didn’t go because I rely on Unilocal so much and boy am I glad I went! They have coffee ice cubes that were awesome and they have almond milk! I was shocked that I didn’t have to get soy. I got the turtle one with all sugar free syrups. I forget the exact name but it was awesome. Caramel, praline, and white chocolate I think? I hope this place stays in business because it was great.

In my experience, Sconelady’s has been closed on several occasions during business hours(with open sign lit), both before work hours, and in the afternoon. The few times I have been able to catch it open during its business hours, the employee/owner has seemed generally unhappy and displeased with performing the tasks of a barista/customer service representative. As for the coffee itself, I have no complaints. I understand that it is run by the parents of young children, which I am empathetic to, and which may account for some of the timing discrepancies. However, it would be preferable to post altered hours online, or hire reliable baristas to fill in the gaps. I would not recommend this business, personally.

We arrived at 7:15 on a Thursday to find the closed sign on the door. Waited even though the opening time was posted as 7 am. When we went in we asked if they open at 7 or 7:30? Got a serious glare from the man behind the counter and he said he was running behind. My wife asked if we should call ahead to see if they were open. Another glare. My wife then said that we should leave and he went ballistic and said«get out of my store, f*** you». Needless to say we won’t be back. We were checking the place out as a place to meet friends on Saturday. Another customer was following us into the store and left as we did. Yet another was in the lot waiting on friends and we related what had happened. Don’t think this place will be open too long with this attitude. Some business owners in Lawrence seem to think that customers will put up with bad attitude. If you don’t like people then get out of retail. Life is too short.

Apparently, Unilocalers just don’t frequent this place. I think that’s a mistake. One I’ve made for a long time. I’ll admit, my bias against this destination is based largely on the awful name which conjures up your corny 60-something auntie with a blue gingham apron futzing around the kitchen when you were 11. Not exactly the espresso joint with wireless most of us are looking for and heavily influenced by marketing – ie., the semi-awful name and sign out front. Maybe I didn’t remember the interior correctly from my last visit… uh, probably five years ago, but I didn’t recall it this pleasant. True espresso shop vibe at the counter, all the proper requisite beverages plus the foo-foo flavored options containing things Dairy Queen might be serving. Those options which some customers demand. Good selection of scones. They appear to be the ones The Merc serve and if so, they’re terrific. Maybe that’s their hook. Guessing they’re made here. Good, make that great, selection of magazines, reliable free wireless and a combination of tables and comfortable couches for hanging out, working, loafing. Funky painted ceiling tiles that give the strip mall environment(where it’s located) a bit of respite from poor industrial design. But its unmistakably your typical urban strip joint in case you’re wondering. My latte was on the lighter side of things. Their roast which is apparently in-house is really mild if my taste buds are reporting correctly. Could have used a bit more edge but the heat was appropriate and poured well. Porcelain cups for in-house, thank you. The current line of 6 – 8 at front counter contains not a single college age student yet the university is but a half mile away and student apartments within a stone’s throw. Makes me think they’d increase their traffic 50% by rebranding themselves, but that’s just the business owner in me. Maybe this is the crowd they want. I dropped by here just for a change of venue from my normal coffee haunts. From now on if they continue this level of service and vibe it’ll join my list of favorite coffee joints in town.

Best coffee shop in Lawrence, hands down. When I lived in Lawrence my boyfriend and I would frequent Scone Lady’s at least 2 – 3 times a week, and I can honestly say their coffee helped me pass college… Maybe I should write a thank you note? But seriously, the coffee is phenomenal and the owner actually roasts the beans right there in the shop. They use espresso ice cubes for their iced drinks, which actually makes your coffee stronger as they melt instead of watering it down, very awesome. And of course, the baked goods are to die for. I’ve tried every kind of scone they can come up with, brownies, cinnamon rolls, and pumpkin bread, and I have yet to be disappointed. The atmosphere is cozy, with only a few tables and chairs and a couple comfy couches with extra pillows. Scone Lady’s is owned and operated by a young couple, who are pretty much the only staff, so every once in a while you might show up to find a «back in 15 minutes» sign on the door… But it’s seriously worth the wait. Next time you find yourself craving Starbucks, ditch the global corporation and give this awesome local establishment a try instead!

Scone Lady’s coffee is divine. It is smooth and she uses coffee ice cubes! However… in the last 4 weeks, I’ve attempted to go there 7 or 8 times at around 7:30am. She has only been open 3 of those days at 7:30. The other days she was closed or had a «be back in 5 minutes» sign on the door. I waited the 5 minutes by the way, and she wasn’t back. Her weekdays hours have her opening at 6:30am. People will be quick to give up on her if they can’t feel confident that they’ll get their coffee before work.

After encountering an extremely disappointing continental breakfast following our overnight in Lawrence, Sconelady’s provided salvation with excellent coffee and even better raspberry and blueberry scones.

I don’t go here a lot, because I am not a big caffeine person, but when I do go… yumm. I end up usually getting an iced mocha on a hot day, and those ice cubes sometimes come back in my dreams at a later date. The scones are awesome — so delicious, moist and sweet. Service is always friendly. Definitely a fan of the place.

Bonus! Love the coffee ice cubes. No more nasty diluting! Also, the chai doesn’t compare here. Come for the coffee.

This is a real coffee shop, not a shop with coffee. I got a big iced mocha and it was far better than any I have had at 5bucks or other places. Also, coffee ice cubes! No watered down drink, no paying for water in my drink. Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Only downside is no drive thru when u are in a rush.

Sconelady has by far the best coffee in Lawrence, carefully selected and hand-roasted right in the store. Great owner, great patrons, just outstanding. And, as you would expect, the scones are outstanding, too.

The scone I had was pretty tasty, and the tea selection was really good. The reason for the three stars is the atmosphere. There was a t.v. on in the corner, which to me isn’t very relaxing, and is distracting. Also, the afternoon that I went here the two staff people were using the couches to relax in between serving customers, which appeared to be the most comfy seats in the shop. I didn’t try the coffee, but it seemed that there was a large selection of beverages.
