Dunn Bros Coffee

A friend of mine picked up an iced vanilla latte for me from this very spot this morning. Drink was very good! Will have to come back next time in person if I’m craving some caffeine!

I really wanted to like it.
Being new to town and being a barista, I really wanted to find a coffee shop to hang out in and this one is close to my house. Unfortunately it just wasn’t good. I got a small iced vanilla latte made with vanilla almond milk. It was cool that they had the option of vanilla and regular almond so for that I gave them the extra star. HOWEVER, the drink tasted nothing like vanilla and everything like an espresso shot that sat in a dirty shot glass for five minutes before it was dumped into my drink. It was gross.
The girl who rang me up was nice enough but the girl making drinks had attitude and was berating one of the workers while she was in front of a lobby full of customers. It was off putting.
Bottom line, the café is cute but the service and drinks don’t merit a return.

Comfortable atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. Coffee is roasted on site so you know it is fresh. Doesn’t have a bottomless cup. Had the Americano…4 shots! That was nice.

The coffee tastes very good, the counter servers are friendly and professional, and the baked goods are very nice. Prices are competitive. It’s noisier than average. A favorite spot of mine.

Love there!!! I used to live close to the coffee shop, and I usually order a cup of latte and a fresh baked cinnamon twist in the morning, and it is an absolutely great start of the day.

I thought this place was pretty good. I went through the drive through early on a Saturday morning, I got the Raspberry White Mocha and a sausage breakfast burrito. My drink was delicious, not over sweet and a strong coffee flavor! And my burrito was really good. I was surprised. I just wanted a drive through that wasn’t duncan doughnuts :)

I echo the sentiments of everyone here. The coffee is mediocre, but it’s the service that sucks.
Case in point: one morning around 8, I came in and decided on a blueberry bagel. I received a plain bagel and dared to complain that it wasn’t the bagel I had ordered. They then told me that the last blueberry bagel had just gone out the drive thru. This is weird in itself that a coffee place would run out of bagels at 8 AM, but the fact that they shortly returned from the drive thru window with a blueberry bagel to give me because another customer didn’t want it was even weirder. One of us didn’t get the thing we ordered. I didn’t need someone else’s bagel. They could have just told me upfront.
Anyway, I still stop by here if I am craving a drive-​thru afternoon coffee, and I’m in the area, but I don’t go out of my way to visit.

I like this place. Great to study at early in the day. Food is good. Staff is wonderful. Coffee is strong and flavorful.

The coffee at Dunn Bros is the best drive through spot in Lawrence. I like to get what I pay for which is a caffeine kick, and Dunn Bros definitely gives you your money’s worth. Best tasting coffee in Lawrence by far.

This is a decent enough property. It’s super-​cluttered but clean with nice colors and decent furniture. That said, I don’t drink coffee to sit in nice furniture. I drink coffee to drink good coffee, and this is ever-​so-​average. IMO it is over-​roasted, like S-​bucks. I assume from the presence of the giant roaster in the middle of the room that they roast their own, so it is hard to understand why the coffee is so ashen. I had 2 caps, the first was okay, the second like an ash tray. I had them remake the second and got the exact same thing. I like that they steam with a thermometer, which shows a commitment to consistency, but they just aren’t achieving a great result. Service was also underwhelming. They serve in paper as the default and expect you to ask for a proper cup if you want one. Where am I again? Is this a Seven 11 or a coffee house? How am I supposed to know that?
There are way too many great coffee houses in Lawrence for me to come back here. Life is too short for mediocre coffee, even when seated in a nice chair.

Great spot when it’s not busy. The coffee is really good. They have comfy seating too, oh and a fire place!

After a long day of shopping in KC, our little group decided to stop in Lawrence and chill for a while with some coffee. We really enjoyed this little pause at the end of the day. Although they were packed, it was comfortable and pleasant and the coffee was fantastic. Will be visiting again.

Note: Until I have been inside or tried more than a couple of drinks, I can’t give that fourth or fifth star but do not take my three star review as negative. Once I have been inside and tried a little more, I have full confidence that the ranking will increase!
With a boyfriend who lives in Lawrence, I find myself in KU country several days a week but still commute to my job in Overland Park. The drive, I don’t mind. The traffic, it’s not so bad if you catch it early. What do I hate the most? No good coffee places on my way out of town that can cure my coffee blues in a hurry… that is until I discovered Dunn Bros.
I am so happy to have found a coffee shop with not only a drive through but almond milk too! The staff are friendly, drinks are out fast, and they have seasonal drinks for all of you fellow Fall-​drink lovers out there. They help make my 40 minute commute so much better and probably much more safe since I am not dozing while driving sans caffeine.
Dunn Bros may not be my favorite coffee in Lawrence but they are a total lifesaver for me and have reserved a spot in my ‘businesses that save my sleepy butt from being late to work’ list. Now to actually make that list on Unilocal

Decent coffee, but the staff is incredibly rude. I tend not to frequent places that employ people who act like customers are just nuisance, keeping them from doing their «real» jobs.

I love this place but hate there customer service.
Every time I go there the employees look like they want to get out, not enjoying there jobs one bit.
What I am trying to say maybe is that they need to make it look more like a local business then a corporation.
Great coffee though and decent prices.

One word — COFFEE! It’s roasted right there — best coffee you will find anywhere.
Service is always good, fast and consistent. I live in Olathe and have great success getting bags of coffee shipped.

I’m on record as no fan of corporate coffee shops and have at times been harsh in return when the service or product was poor for the money.
I make an exception for this Dunn Brothers. I’m a fan. They have it together.
I have consistently come here for several years and consider it a great location with very good coffee and service. The drive-​through service in particular is lightening quick and the house coffees piping hot, usually the drink spout covered with a small adhesive sticker (good idea). The kids that run the window are always friendly.
The owner is here daily. Don’t know him, but we know each other by sight and he always makes sure he knows you see him. It’s his efforts I think which set this location apart from other corporate coffee shops. He cares, and it shows in the staff.
The wireless is fast, the coffee great, the ambiance comforting. I’m happy. Thanks 23^rd Street Dunn Bros. for providing a good coffee environment in an area of town that sorely needed one.

Good coffee and a drive through! Great alternative to Starbucks and love they serve sandwiches now (though they are still having problems with the ordering and supplies” Baristas are a bit flaky and get my order wrong, but I know which ones are bad and can work around it.

the customer service SUCKS! especially the younger manager that works in the mornings. it is disturbing. i will say that the coffee is good. the lattes contain a powerful and pleasant bold espresso flavor and the syrups used (caramel and vanilla) are quality syrups. i also like that they are currently supporting breast cancer awareness… all of the cups are pink. i’d rather go spend $ 1 more at Starbucks for more quality customer service though

Quick service, comfy chairs, and fresh roasted coffee– what more could you want in a coffee shop? It’s a good stop for reading or studying, though many times I’ve come in for an afternoon pick-​me-​up and all the seats are full. While I’ll agree with other reviewers that the staff aren’t particularly unique from other coffee places, they are efficient.
They often offer discounts and deals in the student paper, so keep an eye out for their coffee sales and drink discounts.
