Nope. This one’s not for me. I ordered 5 simple rolls and a house salad for pickup. The rolls were less than stellar. The nori was chewy and soggy and the rice was extremely dry and hard in some places. Nothing tasted fresh. We are sushi junkies and hail from Vegas… to be fair, we’re a little spoiled in the sushi department, but this sushi was just blech. We ate a little less than half of the rolls and fed a handful of the leftovers to the dog. No more Yeah Sushi for this gal.

Sad to say, this restaurant is planning to close. The location is not working for them.

Wonderful sushi that is certainly better than most. They take extra time to make designs in their food with interesting layouts and presentation. I know this means nothing about how it tastes but it shows they care about it. The decoration is kind of weird but not annoying and off putting. The service was great and the price was more than fair. I’d say this is place is easily one of the, if not THE, best places to get sushi in Lawrence. On an indifferent note, at the time they did not have their liquor license yet and explained they were working on getting one. This is a byproduct of the law and not their fault so it doesn’t change my opinions either way. I would say if you go there is a chance you may not get a alcoholic drink if that’s what you desire. It could have changed since my visit.

What the heck Unilocal?!!This was a HUGE disappointment. The mussels were okay. The bento box hibachi vegetables were like warm, the fried rice just had soy and some egg in it. The sushi tasted like I tried to make it myself at home… No I cannot even make rice. The cucumber salad was OLD cucumbers marinated in some ginger sauce that you probably could’ve disinfected a public restroom with. yuck what a waste of money been better off eating dog terds. Ps my jasmine tea tastes like old dish water.

I am pleasantly surprised by this sushi restaurant! Went on a Sunday afternoon; it was not busy at all. Our server was quick, kind, and attentive. My husband and I tried the sushi & sashimi sampler along with a couple rolls which came out with a unique and cool presentation. My only complaint was that I could not enjoy a Sapporo or any saki with my meal — They do not yet have their liquor license, or at least that’s what I think the server told us apologetically. We will definitely return in the future.

Visited Yeah Sushi for the first time last night but will back. Very unassuming location and décor but that only helps do what is important — serve meticulously prepared sushi at a very reasonable price. Best quality fish of any of the Lawrence sushi restaurants.

The Malls Shopping Center where this restaurant is located was built when I was a youngster and one of it’s biggest attractions, at least for me, was Daylight Donuts. On the occasional weekend, my father would shove a very young me into the car and we’d run to the Daylight Donuts to grab donuts for the family. My favorites were the fritters. They had astoundingly good blueberry fritters and apple fritters. All other fritters since that time have left me wanting. Daylight Donuts is long gone, but in that very same space now resides Yeah Sushi. It felt odd being in there again after so many decades. The clean white walls have been replaced with bright green and there is now ratty carpeting in place of the gleaming tile that was once there. They’ve tried to make the place a bit more charming by adding some twinkling lights, but the place really feels a bit dive-y. It didn’t help that our waitress was wearing sweatpants and a ratty tee-shirt, either. But hey, some of the best food can be found in dives, so we were looking forward to trying the sushi. Unfortunately, the sushi, while beautifully presented, was just ok. We ordered the quail eggs which are an interesting and fairly unique find, but not something I’d rush back for. We also had salmon and razor clam sashimi, both of which were ok. The salmon was a little less tender and buttery in texture than I’ve had at other sushi places and it seemed like it was just past its prime. The hubby ordered the sweet potato sushi which was a standout for him and he ordered a second round. We also had the Tropical Beach Roll which was a bit difficult to eat as each piece had a pretty large circumference and it was wrapped in cucumber. It had a nice fresh flavor, but fell apart too easily. We also ordered the golden mussels which had a pleasant overall flavor, and a tiny kick, but were a bit overcooked leaving them rubbery. One of the oddest things about this place is that even though it didn’t seem super busy, the waitress was running in the restaurant. Yes, running. Seemed very odd and unnecessary and it really interfered with our enjoyment of our meal to have an overly stressed server running laps through the restaurant. Otherwise, the service was fine. Food came out relatively quickly, but each item we ordered came out plated separately. While the presentation for all of the plates was beautiful, it seemed like overkill. We would have been just as happy to have some of our items grouped together on the same plate/platter. So back to the Daylight Donuts story line. I really don’t eat many donuts, but I’m a huge sushi fan. Yet I had to work hard to suppress the urge to order a blueberry fritter. I’m sure our waitress would have been terribly confused by this request, but it would have amused the heck out of me. Yeah, I know that they don’t have them, but hey, it was wishful thinking. The fritters would have been much more satisfying than the meal we had. One more thing: The ladies room was disgusting. Just awful. It makes me worry about the sanitary conditions in a restaurant when the restrooms are foul. It was not handicap accessible, either, so if you need that, you might want to skip this restaurant. The silver lining here is the food was very inexpensive. We were here for my hubby’s 40th birthday, so it would have been wonderful if the experience were worthy of a grand celebration, but instead we frittered(see what I did there?) away our time there wishing the experience was better.

Amazing sushi for Kansas. I am a bit of a sushi snob, but I was truly impressed. The presentation was great too. Sweetheart is a large roll and so is full night. So good, will be back!

Saw it opened recently and tried it out. There’s a new #2 spot under Wa on the list of best sushi in Lawrence. Great rolls with some innovative twists I’d never seen before. It may be sort of out of the way, but at least parking is never going to be an issue! Will definitely return soon.

We had a great time at Yeah Sushi the other night. The sushi is excellent and so artistically served. We tried a big variety of things. The prices are so good and the quality excellent. Since they are new the service is a little slow so if time is a factor maybe go when you have the time to enjoy but not feel pressure. The dishes come out of the kitchen one at a time — but worth the wait.

This is a little hidden gem! I am pleased with everything we got and we’ll be back. I would like to see some rolls without rice, but the sashimi & sashimi appetizer are generous and beautifully arranged. Very affordable for the lovely food we had!

Super fun. Sushi tastes good… but it is really presented in a lovely way. Many rolls come with blinking lights. Everything we had was artistically plated. Maybe a bit cheesy, but I loved it. Hidden by a hardware store. I will come back.

This is a new restaurant that has only been open for 15 days or so. I’ve only dined there once so far, but plan to return several more times in the next couple weeks to find out if the food quality and service are consistent. They’re doing some things well and others need improvement. This is going to be a detailed review which I hope the owners will read. I think this place has real potential and I hope to be updating my review to 4 or 5 stars in the near future. Food: The quality of the fish was good and on the same level as Prime Blu and Oriental Bistro. I can only speak to the quality of the Nigiri and Sashimi. I rarely eat rolls, but rolls are the easy part. I’m guessing they’re also high quality. The Nigiri rice ball is too large. I’ve noticed this same problem at Oriental Bistro the last few times I’ve eaten there. By the time you get the fish and the rice in your mouth, it’s difficult to chew. Smaller rice balls, please! The green salad is disappointing. The dressing was mayo based and I want ginger dressing with my green salad. The cucumber salad was decent. The cucumbers were soaked in vinegar and placed on top of green lettuce. The green lettuce was unnecessary and undressed. The tempura batter isn’t traditional Japanese. It’s more of a panko breading, but I liked it. The shrimp was well seasoned, but the vegetables could have benefited from additional seasoning. My major complaint is the sauce. It was think and white and appeared to be mayo based. I’d much rather have tentsuyu sauce. The food is beautiful. Every plate placed on our table had a beautiful design and some have color changing LEDs hidden in garnish. It’s a little magical. The service was great. Yes, we were the only table in the restaurant, but our server was polite and attentive. Do not let the fact that this placed is sandwiched between Ace Hardware and Radio Shack put you off. I was pleasantly surprised. I almost forgot to mention the price. Yeah Sushi is less expensive than Prime Blu and about the same as Oriental Bistro. It’s a good value.

My fiancé and I tried this restaurant today(just stumbled upon it) and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and the food came out fast. I would highly recommend someone eating here. We’ll definitely be back.
