Pros: — Good quality food — Great Ambiance. — Its very clean with great décor and is one of the nicest Tex-Mex restaurants I’ve eaten at. Cons: — The food is Very Very Very, salty. That is why I no longer eat here is because they salt everything heavily. I haven’t been back since early 2015, so maybe they have cut it back. — Very slow service

I love this place. Best Mexican food in Gwinnett! They use fresh ingredients and the service is fantastic. They are always packed, but they are getting ready to expand. They have great booths that hold 4 people or less at a time.

Officially my favorite Mexican restaurant EVER!!! Believe me, because I’m the only one in my family that DOESN’T like Mexican restaurants in general. The people, the food, the atmosphere. EVERYONE is doing their best to give you the best service possible. Leyra was our server, but everyone was always checking on our table. They are truly a team and you can tell that they are passionate about what they do. I’m very comfortable with contributing to the dream-turned-reality of the owner(s). The décor is very nice, not dark and cookie cutter like every other Mexican themed restaurant. Shout out to Jose and all the folks without name tags that were helping out all nice. We came on a Saturday night, which is every restaurants busiest night, and everything seemed to run as smoothly as expected. Service was prompt and polite. The price is right. And so are the people(I know, I’ve said it twice now)!

I’ve eaten at Fridas a couple of times. Their food is good and they have ample parking.

A new tradition this year was added to our holiday rotation with the addition of Mexican food… with margarita’s on New Years Day. We headed for my sisters regular haunt to find it ‘out of business’ so we ended up in this little pace tucked into a partially leased strip mall near her house. The place was packed! It soon became apparent that it wasn’t necessarily busy just because of the holiday, the service and food ended up being great. Only complaints were the upgraded guacamole had absolutely zero salt added. Without salt it would have been inedible and some of the steak in the taco was a bit over-charred but everything else made up for it. Will definitely be back when in Grayson. Here’s to starting your own New Years tradition(you can borrow our’s if you like).

Pretty good for our first Mexican spot in this area. There was a waiter in training that was a little to eager he asked us for our order 3 x’s in less than 10 minutes. Since it was our first time we needed to familiarize ourself with the menu. My suaza enchiladas were good but the sauce dried up and went away so I asked for more. Also our chips were stale and not warm so I asked for more but the salsa was good. My husband got the steak sizzling tacos and it wasn’t enough he was still hungry. I agree with other reviewers it’s pretty basic mexican I’ve had better. The suaza sauce is excellent too bad they didn’t add enough the first go round.

This is my go-to Mexican spot. I’ve had most of everything on the menu and several of the margaritas. I never had a disappointing meal until I invited friends for dinner. Two of us ordered the fish tacos, which was my first time ordering them. Great presentation, but the fish was so tiny, it wasn’t enough to even qualify as a fish taco. Vision two pencils side by side and then cut in half… that was the size of the fish! Now I know to never order that again. Visited again 2 days later and ordered the steak chimichanga and it was excellent! Also, the chicken tortilla soup, burrito con queso, steak quesadilla are all awesome too.

I am going to disagree with pretty much every five-star review. Having been to Fridas multiple times now, I think that I’ve been accustomed to what their quality and consistency is like. Three stars suits this place adequately given the scattered décor(yes, I realize the theme is Frida Kahlo), but the atmosphere doesn’t really do her artwork justice given her propensity for all things visual. Yeah, it’s a Mexican restaurant in strip-mall in Gwinnett County, Georgia, so I get it. The food reminds me of the old Rio Bravo chains that previously adorned every stripmall in the mid-90s, with very little flavor, and very little attention to the freshness. The food is above average at best, and I challenge any Gwinnettian to try a few other lesser family-friendly places for authenticity and quality. Do I claim to know any more about what Mexican food is supposed to taste like? Probably. There really isn’t any one dish or quality about Fridas that draws me back or differentiates them from the myriad of other Mexamerican food that pops up in North Georgia. I know that Lawrencevillians will blast me for questioning their«little gem», but I challenge everyone to branch out a little, use Unilocal, leave the kids at home, and try something a little more on the edge rather than playing it safe for a change. Five stars, this place is not.

First time here tonight. Party of 5. Limited seating for groups above 4 but they are expanding to next door as well which will add more seating. The booth for 4 was fine and a chair added to the end had us seated in short order right at the 6pm dinner peak. The chips were exceptionally good, very thin and fresh, and they seemed to be endless without asking. The normal red salsa had a little kick but not too much, quite tasty. Now the«brown» salsa was outstanding. Not much kick(not needed) the flavor was very tasty. Make sure to try it. Mixed orders, two taco salads, one beef, one chicken that had their cheese sauce. Well liked. The burrito Asado was great and plentiful, some of that went home in a box. I personally had a combination and the poblano pepper option at a $ 1.99 upgrade was well worth it. Thoroughly enjoyed. Chicken taco and enchilada to make the trio was served with ample portions of beans and rice. Now the best part. BRAD was our server. Not sure where they found him, but top notch during the entire meal. He obviously has had excellent training and enjoys what he does very obvious. The owner, Abel, stopped by during the meal to check on us as well. Nice to see that still happening, especially in a local non chain location. We will be back.

This is an update to my review I posted yesterday. I wish I could give it negative stars because I spent last night in the emergency room with food poisoning. I didn’t eat anything after I ate lunch there yesterday and by 9 o’clock I was terribly sick. Do yourself a favor steer clear of this restaurant.

I give their service & atmosphere 5 stars. However, this place serves the blandest Mexican food I have ever tasted, and I arrived in this world while eating Mexican food. For food taste, I give this a negative star. If you love bland food this is the place for you.

This hidden gem in Lawrenceville is the best Mexican food in Gwinnett county hands down! Fresh tasty food, filling portions and good service is what you can expect to find here. And you can tell ownership cares, as you can find the owner making the rounds greeting the customers. For starters, they have some of the best chips and salsa I’ve ever had. In particular the darker, spicier salsa is my favorite. Its so good, if not careful I can get filled up on chips and salsa alone before getting my food. I work close by, so I’ve been here for lunch many times and for dinner a few times as well. I’ve rarely been disappointed by any dish I’ve had here. I love the chorizo con queso! The fajitas are good, the Mexican nachos(I had it with chorizo) are a pleasant surprise, and the pollo ranchero, tequila lime chicken and milanesa are a few of my favorite dishes there. And I do believe they have updated their menu, as on their specials section I see some things I have yet to see from other Mexican restaurants, giving me more reason to come back for dinner in the future. Everything is just flat out delicious! I highly recommend this place if you live in the area, or heck if you live anywhere in the county within reasonable driving distance. Its worth the trip! 5 stars!

How could we have missed this!!! Food was DELICIOUS!!! Not so much Tex Mex… more authentic! And it’s named after one of my favorite artists female Mexican artist Frida Kahlo! Service was on point, margaritas were delicious!!! Our server Randolfo was attentive and courteous! We will definitely be back.

Recently went for the first time and the food was amazing– from the soup to the Tex mex chimichanga! Service was good and on top of that the décor of the restaurant was beautiful. The Frida Kahlo portraits were gorgeous. Definitely returning.
