The bar itself isn’t much special but they serve cold beer and the service was friendly. They have shuffleboard and a big projector screen inside. Lots of seating. This seems more like a bar for locals rather than tourists and is off the beaten track. You’re not going to get a German experience here but it’s a just fine bar.

Two years ago, this place was king… what happened? Menu didn’t match anything online, wait time was horrendous, order finally arrived botched, with none of the acknowledgement of the choices(protip: avoid the chicken sandwich). Oh how times have changed. If you are looking for anything other than a place to drink and sit for extended periods, this ain’t the place.

My boyfriend and I are on vacation in Leavenworth, and we came to the Ducks and Drakes for some late night bar food. I read some reviews that this place«feels like a dive”-no way! This feels more like a bar that the locals probably go to. It was quiet(we went on a Sunday night), and very roomy, with a shuffleboard area near the back. We should have split the nachos. MYGOODNESSTHEYAREBIG. Some of the best damn nachos we have ever eaten! They were unbelievably cheesy and tasted like tacos. Taco nachos? I don’t know. They were awesome. I had the halibut and chips. Kind of greasy beer batter, but the halibut inside made up for it. Yum. And $ 15 is a great price! As for the liquor and beer, they had a decent beer selection, but it was late and we were both tired so my boyfriend got a pilsner and I got a Coke. Go try the nachos!!!

Meh. It’s a local’s bar… with shuffleboard, and better than most of the tourist traps around Leavenworth. Dive bar, moderate food, and a waiter that would argue with you if you ordered a dark beer and get a light beer. Literally, my friend Patrick ordered a Manny’s, and was given a pale ale, and the waiter literally said, «that’s a Manny’s.» I got up and brought it to the bar tender and he took one look and was like, «yeah, that’s definitely not a Manny»(duh). It’s divy, it’s dingy, it’s dasterly, it’s all around bleh, but the only redeeming quality is that it’s not a mob when tourists flood the town. Honestly, I still won’t go back on my own.

Major slow service issues. Server seemed disappointed when we did not order alcoholic drinks and our service came to a snails pace. Ordered Brisket Sandwich which was very good and the only reason they got a second star. The wife ordered Nachos«hold the jalapeños»…it came loaded. A member of our group ordered another sandwich«minus the jalapeños»…it showed up with jalapeños. COuld not for the life of us get refills on soft drinks as the server passed by multiple times to get others orders. Won’t be back which is too bad. Decent food, Awful service.

BBQ Brisket Sandwich was to die for! I am picky when someone says BBQ. This was great house made sauce and Cole slaw. Husband and wife team that were serving were awesome people! Try this you won’t be sorry

This is a hidden gem! A year and a half ago I attended a bachelorette party in Leavenworth and during our town adventures this was one of our stops. Then again over this Christmas weekend my family was here for a family reunion of sorts. Both times there was no wait time to be seated, the staff was friendly and the food was delicious. We had a group of about 15 with 3 kids under seven and a sleeping toddler. We quickly found seating in a quiet space offset from the bar and big screen in the main area. It was apparent that they were not expecting the large quantity of customers all at once but once they got tables serviced and drinks out things seemed to run much smoother. The manager or owner was fantastic, very attentive and gracious even refilling our wine glasses and giving us milk for the road for my son just as a thank you for our patience. We honestly didn’t have one person complain about food and just about everyone cleared their plates. After two separate visits with two very large groups I am happy to say that we will be visiting this little gem every time we come to Leavenworth! Thank you so much!

Visited Leavenworth for a day trip. Found this place on local recommendation. One word: superb. We were a party of 6 with one person observing a religious festival which prevented him eating outside(he was carrying his own food). The kind owners and servers understood that and made an exception to the no outside food for him. The usual finger food– nachos and fries were good with a full bar. Ate their Bratwurst Sandwich, really good. They had a shuffle board which was fun. They also had a dance floor cum karaōke(after 9:00 pm I think) which was a hit. Left the place close to 10:30, loved it and would definitely be going back again

We came here for Seahawks Sunday, after Googling sports bars in Leavenworth, and this place seemed to be on several lists. It’s the basement level of another restaurant, so the entrance is on the side of the building. When we arrived there were already a lot of 12s at the tables upfront by the huge projector screen, so it seemed like we were in the right place. The place became more and more crowded closer to game time, especially since the space isn’t that big. The large projector screen is the only screen at the place, so everyone’s facing the same direction. The server was really great, especially since it looked like she was the only waitress for the entire room. She had a positive attitude and was patient with everyone. We ordered pitchers of beers and breakfast. The breakfast was mediocre. I had a classic breakfast plate with eggs, bacon and buttermilk biscuits with gravy. The biscuits and gravy were good and soft, but the two bacon strips were so overly done that it had that burnt texture. This was the same case for my friend who ordered the same meal. When our waitress asked how we’d like our eggs cooked, I wanted poached, which she said she’d ask the cook to do, but wasn’t sure if he knew how to make them. When I got my plate, I found out the answer. I instead had over-easy eggs. Since I didn’t come here for the food though, I didn’t think much of it, especially since the waitress was really great. But what was worse was the crowd here. I’m used to watching Seahawks games where the people are enthusiastic, loud and cheerful. But this crowd was such a buzz kill. Even when the Hawks scored people would quietly clap, while my friends and I were standing up, cheering and wanting to give everyone else around us high-fives. Someone even told my friend to be quiet after the Hawks scored and we were confused if we were at a sports bar or if the jersey on his back was really a Seahawks jersey. We would never ever come back here again since the place seems to attract a quiet 12th Man. Ironic, huh?

Walked in and it was busy but the staff was attentive and found us a place to sit. We didn’t stay long and ended up leaving to go somewhere else. The location was good. They had lots of TV’S to watch the game.

Actually 3 Stars overall but 4 Stars if you’re looking for a nice, quite out-door patio and decent food away from the tourists and kitschy Bavarian scene. Our server was outstanding, friendly, helpful, very nice. We ordered the Bratwurst Sandwich and House Smoked Tri-tip Sandwich. Both were very good and both came with solid, but not exceptional, fries. The inside is a bit of a tired bar/pub feel but that only infers there must be some hopping times on Friday and Saturday nights.

The people are really nice. The food is okay. The wait time sucks, and our orders were pretty screwed up when we finally got them.

I’m only giving two stars because I hope that the new owners will step it up. This place has so much potential and unfortunately we had the worst service and the food was cold and overpriced. The new owners are kind and seem motivated. I like that and hopefully you can go here and have a great time.

First of all, we found this gem here in Leavenworth, it was a little off the beaten path & the incredibly busy strip. The customer service was beyond compare. We had 3 dogs with us & they were so sweet about us being on the patio, bring ice cold water for the pups and a bowl ! Next. The food !!! DELICIOUS !!! We orders the smoked chicken wings with hot sauce. I am a avid lover of chicken wings and the sweet smoky meat and the delicious Franks hot sauce was a perfect combo !! We also had loaded potatoes skins & they were also fantastic !! My hubby ordered the bratwurst sandwich & he was in swine heaven! Lastly, the short rib tacos were simply awesome ! Perfectly seasoned & so so good ! The fresh, cold draft beers form the local breweries truly hit the spot on this sweltering day! I would also like to add that on the patio a youth group came out with their own brown bags and sat down, the owner came out and I thought he was going to politely ask them to leave. Instead he offered them water and said they were welcome to stay and eat and enjoy their lunch on the patio! What a class act !! and a true generous restaurant owner ! This is how a business should be and I am just blown away at how fantastic this establishment is !!!

I’m reviewing the Sunday night poker night because although I had a small snack, I did not dive into the menu too much. If you are a poker snob who needs professional dealers and fancy logo felt tables, read no more! You are in the wrong place. But if you’re okay with the home game style, very loose, friendly people you’ve come to the right spot! My wife and I found the poker night event on Google and decided to give it a shot. We were greeted by a very friendly bartender who signed us up for the event and eventually we moved to a room adjacent to the dining room where a small, home game style table was set up. There were eight of us total, including the owner, Donovan. Everyone was so friendly and we had a great time! The game lasted from 6PM to 10PM. The bartender kept checking in on us to provide us with snacks and drinks. We really enjoyed our time here and I would definitely love to return.

Descriptive phrase: basement pub. We stopped by Ducks and Drakes during a town-wide chili cookoff to try their entry. It’s a fairly large space, all in the basement of some other building. Comfortable, if a bit dated. Servers were friendly, though. Two of us split a bowl of the chili($ 5.95), which was very thick and hearty. It was served with tortilla chips, which I thought was an interesting addition. Ducks and Drakes seemed like a nice enough place, and the chili was worth an order.

It’s an underground bar/pub/hole. There’s a sandwich board that sits atop the stairs leading down to it that reads: «Best Reuben in Town», and other broken promises. We had the misfortune of spending NYE here, upon the very bad advice of our hotel receptionist next door. I had my sights set on another place in town, but our company was convinced that this was the place to be. We settled in early and ordered some food. We started with an order of their«generous portion of spicy wings»($ 9). It came with, give or take, ten little pieces. Tasted OK. Next, the boys were so excited to try the«Best Reuben in Town» that two orders were placed. We, girls, found their«House Specialty Fish & Chips» with«renowned seasoned fries». I made it a point to clarify the big, big promises on their menu. The waiter assured me that everything was as good as it sounds. Underwhelmed by the chicken wings, we still kept our hopes up for the main courses. During which time, a man came around to ask for $ 10 cover charge per person. Just when I thought this would be the last straw, our company gave in once again and paid the covers. Our food arrived and that was when we all hit a wall. The Reuben($ 11) review from the boys was this: «There’s hardly any meat in it!» The Fish & Chips($ 16) review from the girls: «…*cough*…*choke*…So. DRY!» And of course, the«renowned seasoned fries»: Plain deep fried potato strips. Sure the crisp on them was good, but what about the«renowned seasoning»??? Needless to say, we were very disappointed. To make matters worse, the band playing their NYE show was just horrid. My ears rang all night from the indulgent and endless«jamming», or whatever they called that senseless racket they were making. The place swarmed with tone-deaf college kids and that, my dear readers, was when our company caved. I was so thankful to get out of there, and we all agreed never to come back. NYE ruined. The End.

I ordered the Jaeger schnitzel, and my dad ordered the«bestwurst» which was two bratwursts, sourkrat, and potato salad. This place is relatively cheaper than most restaurants in Leavenworth, but the food is incredibly SALTY. Especially the bratwurst. The Jaeger Schnitzel was pretty good. It was a deep fried pork with mushroom gravy over the top. The gravy was a bit chunky and salty, but overall it was good. The fried were also incredibly good, but again they were quite salty. I loved the sports-bar ambience, though. They were playing the current sports games on a big screen TV, and they have very good waiters and servers. For those who come visit this place, I highly recommend trying the gluwein. The gluwein at Ducks & Drakes is way tastier than the gluwein offered at the outdoor tents in Leavenworth. Overall, this place was nice and I’d probably visit again because it is cheaper than most sit-down restaurants in Leavenworth.

Note: This is just a review of the bar, not the restaurant. After having dinner at Munchen Haus, my girlfriend and I decided to get drinks at Ducks and Drakes. Well drinks were only $ 4 and we only had a short walk back to the hotel, so we decided to have«a few». Our bartender was really nice. She did accidentally give us vodka sprites instead of the vodka sodas we ordered for the first round, but she was willing to switch our drinks out for the ones we wanted at no extra cost. Whenever we finished our drinks throughout the night, she always there to offer us another round. It was really nice sitting in their partially-covered outdoor seating area on a warm, peaceful night. It seemed like they stay open later than the other places in Leavenworth, so that was nice too. We would definitely get drinks at Ducks and Drakes again.
