Decent food, decent entertainment factor but still leaves you wanting more. My family of four(two adults and two tween kids) decided to try the Teppanyaki dining experience here at Shogun on a Saturday night. I guess with no reservation we we’re considered lucky to be thrown in with another large group.(Tip: If you are interested in going, get yourself a reservation). Part of the entertainment with this type of restaurant is that you share a table with some strangers, so it’s always great people watching. From the very start, even before we were seated, the waitstaff seemed intent on rushing everybody along to make decisions as quickly as possible, sighting the other reservations coming later. Making the other guests at our teppan(grill table) visibly unhappy and openly complaining at the treatment. I understand the need for any restaurant to move things along but it’s a fine line when they seem openly forceful to do this. Once the«show» got under way everybody seemed a lot happier and I do have to admit the cooking portion was fairly entertaining but yet again felt very rushed along. The kids loved catching shrimp with there mouths and laughed at most of the jokes the chef said. We all enjoyed catching the cook shrimped with our mouths and everybody at the table was cheering each other on. One thing I did find very odd though was that the half dozen or so shrimp that were missed and hit the floor were never picked up during the hour long meal. We had to literally tip toe around the discarded shrimp when we left. We all had combination plates of steak/shrimp and chicken/shrimp. Everything seemed to be seasoned with the same sauces and seasoning which tasted OK but an entire plate flavored the same was a little disappointing. Over all, the food was decent but nothing to rave about, the waitstaff pleasant and efficient yet seemed to not try to hide they wanted you in and out as quick as possible. For an over all bill near $ 120 for a family of four we expected a little more pizzazz or at least more of a warm welcoming feel. We did not try the sushi and we do have plans to return to experience that«side» of the restaurant on it’s own very soon.

Spicy Tuna Roll is awesome! Food and service not bad. Unfortunately, they lacked in performance, no show or flying food.

My coworkers and I stopped by here for lunch! It wasn’t busy at all and we decided to go for the hibachi! The prices were very reasonable although my coworker said its quite expensive for dinner(but the portions are much, much larger!) I thought the food itself was delicious and our hibachi chef was really nice and attentive. He made it really fun for us! A friend of mine raves about the sushi here but I’m super picky when it comes to sushi. I’ll have to try it next time! It’s really close to my house and my work so I’ll definitely stop by again!

After driving by this place about 100 times, I finally decided to stop in for lunch today. The restaurant was extremely quiet with only a couple of other patrons inside. Right after I sat down, the waitress asked what I would like to drink and I ordered water. She left and then I sat there and waited and waited with no water being delivered. I sat at the sushi bar and ordered an alaska roll and a spicy tuna toll. The sushi chef worked very quickly, and within a couple of minutes of placing my order, my lunch was ready. Still not having any water, the sushi chef then asked if I would like something to drink so I placed my water order again. The taste of the sushi was ok, but I did not think the fish was overly fresh. The service was extremely lacking, since it took multiple people to get a water in the first place, and then my water glass sat empty with no refills for the second half of my meal. The décor was nice, but I wouldn’t hurry back thanks to the quality of fish and the poor service.

Brought my son here for birthday lunch and fell in love. Bento box with beef teriyaki was fantastic. The crab Rangoon are quite small but delicious and best eggroll I’ve ever had. Very relaxed atmosphere the staff is superb. Can’t wait to go back and try the hibachi side.

Shogun is terrific. I am always pleased when we go there to eat. It’s a family favorite, so we often frequent this spot when we’re in town visiting the in laws. The teppanyaki is good. The meat is good quality, and I like that they do a split between rice and noodles. That’s a cool bonus for this place. The sushi is also really good for KC. I am a nigiri monster right now, so I usually drop solid cash on the salmon, yellowtail, tuna, etc. I also tried their toro(fatty tuna) and walu(Hawaiian white fish) the other day; both of which we’re delicious. Overall, a great spot for lunch or dinner. I’d recommend calling ahead on weekends if you’re bringing a big crowd.

Excellent Sushi! They have the best Saki(Salmon). Their Maguro(Tuna) and Unagi(Eel) are always very fresh. Portions are the bestI I have found on the Kansas side. You will enjoy.
