Still amazed at the consistent quality and excellence of the food from Mr Kabab. I’ve had Mediterranean food from chefs around the world and this restaurant remains my favorite. A food lovers dream and one of my favorite meals in the Bluegrass.

Mr Kabab is consistently the best Mediterranean food in the city. Atmosphere: They revamped the place a few years ago and now it looks awesome inside. They have big ornate brightly lit decorations and they always have some sort of middle eastern music programming on the TV. Service: At first they can seem rather brusque, but don’t mistake they’re lack of chattiness with a lack of service as they’re great about getting you exactly what you want. Falafel: No one has as good falafel as Kabab’s. I’ve tried 4 places in Lexington and their falafel is always crisp and green on the inside and the most savory of all. Shaworma: This is the mediterranean equivalent of Pad Thai as far as a good dish to get started with if you’ve never tried this kind of food before. Shredded chicken or beef and you get can get it in a sandwich, over rice, or even just a big plate of shaworma over a cut up shaworma sandwich if you’re super hungry. Kababs: The eponymous kababs are all tasty and juicy. I’m quite partial to the lamb skewer. If you’re eating as a couple, you might consider the Ultimate Mashawi platter which has enough food, realistically, for like three people. Hummus: Delicious hummus that they’ve started adding oil to, so now it eclipses Oasis as the best hummus in Lexington. Other sides: I’ve had the tabouli, the cucumber salad, and the yogurt salad and all three are equally good. I normally have to get a side of falafel with my shaworma. The grape leaves are fantastic, if a bit pricey. Dessert: They have fantastic baklava that is just dripping with honey, and I usually can’t even look at it by the time I’m done with all the other stuff, but the few times I’ve gotten it, its been amazing. Seriously, tho. Get to Mr Kabab if you somehow haven’t yet.

I only come here when I am craving a falafel or gyros and am on this side of town. It is located in front of Burlington Coat Factory, but behind the UPS store. It was hard for me to find to begin with. They do have lunch and daily specials. When you order, they really pile on the food. I have noticed that their food can be hit or miss. At times it is piping hot where as others it seems to be cold and blah. Like I said, this is only the place I go to when I am not willing to drive across town for mediterranean goodies. It is a very clean store and has a great layout. The staff is normally friendly and helpful. I have watched them try to explain their food and taste to random customers. Kind of cute to be honest. Please note this isn’t the best, but really not the worst. If you have a craving, this place is good.

Been going to this place since I was a little girl. I adore it to put it lightly. I’ve never tried anything I haven’t liked. I typically go for the lamb or chicken platter or one of each. The fattoush is great as is the falafel and the hummus. I cannot say enough to great things about this place. From the Arabic music in the background to the atmosphere definitely worth checking out. If I lived in Lexington I would most definitely be a regular!

Serving sizes are large. Very friendly and fast. Gyros could use a little more Vegetables, so I always ask for some more on the side :) Been here Numerous times and always consistent.

This place is awesome. The atmosphere is great and the staff are welcoming and happy to help. The beef shawarma lunch special is what I always get but i mix up the side dish from time to time. I’d you want good Mediterranean food this is the place and for the price, it can’t be beaten.

Love this place and its sister shop, Gyroz. It satisfies all my cravings for Levantine cuisine, the ambience is nice, the Arabic music videos are hilarious. One note: I got the tahini salad and it was very unpalatable. This was the only thing that I’ve gotten here that was unsatisfactory. Also, to other reviewers: just because Sahara is world-class doesn’t mean you should vote this place down. And there are some marked advantages of this place – ambience, location and it is less crowded and less apt to run out of food.

The food is great depending on who the cook is that day or the mood he’s in. Sometimes I love t but sometimes the shawarma that’s dry and old I go here often since is close to my house but twice I’ve gotten old meat and it was inedible.

I usually love mediterranean food but this was by far my worst experience at a restaurant. We waited for at least 15 minutes though there was only one other couple there. The food for me was’t very flavorful and even was pretty dry. Though my friends did say they enjoyed their dish which was the chicken schwara. I even got a little sick afterwards but I think it was because of the amount of cream based sauce that was in my dish and was not their fault.

This place is fantastic. My co-workers introduced me to Mr Kebab a few weeks ago and I’ve already been here twice. I’d call this an upscale casual restaurant since you place your order at the counter and then go pick up your food. The lunch special is reasonably priced and they give you so much food it’s hard to finish it all. The rice is fragrant, the chicken is moist, the hummus is nicely prepared and the side options are plentiful. My co-worker loves their grape leaves and falafel in particular. Also, the staff is very courteous. I complimented one of the employees on how delicious their food was and he told me I am welcome any time which I thought was sweet. Added bonus: they are right next door to Dunkin Donuts in case you still have a sweet tooth and room in your belly!

My daughter and I love this place! I am a Mediterranean food kind of girl! Do I am always happy with Mr. Kabab! They have recently remodeled and I am feeling the new look. The food presentation is always nice and the food tastes great. Of course, I am still feeling my way around Lexington for the perfect Gyro… I have yet to find the 5 start Mediterranean spot, but they deserve at least 4 stars! Maybe I am mistaken, but they have changed something about their onions… they used to marinate them and they were pink, but I got regular onions the last time I was there… maybe I have to ask for them special, IDK, but hey, I like both so it doesn’t really matter, just an observation…

Undoubtedly my favorite place to eat in Lexington. For the price I’ve never had better food. I’ve tried several menu items including the chicken kebab, chicken gyro, and chicken and beef shawarma, but nothing compares to the lamb shawarma. OMG so good. The tahini is thin and garlicky and amazing. The lentil soup is fantastic. Tahini salad is usually my go to side item but I love the hummus as well. The only negative is that taking your food can sometimes take a while when this place is packed. But for food that tastes like sit down restaurant quality when you pay fast food prices can you really complain? Gave Sahara a try but wasn’t as in love. They may have more variety on their menu, but Mr. Kebab’s food was more delicious and their prices can’t be beat.

I like Mr. Kabob. The prices here are reasonable and the food is tasty. It’s not always consistent, though. I came here one afternoon and got their beef and lamb gyro with a side of rice. The gyro was delicious. The meat was cooked just right, there was exactly the right amount of sauce, the flavors all meshed together perfectly. The rice was flavorful too. So I decided to come back one evening and pick up a gyro and chicken shwarma. I couldn’t even attest to how the meat was cooked/seasoned because it was drowning in Tzatziki sauce. The chicken shwarma was dry and the rice was inexplicably spicy. VERY spicy. Then I came another another time for dinner and got a falafel gyro. It was great. This same great/not great pattern has continued. I come here fairly regularly because I love Greek food and Mr. Kabab is close to me, but there’s no rhyme or reason as to when the food is going to be amazing or when it’s going to be sub par.

Usually this is my favorite spot but today the beef was off. It was very crunchy, I’m not fond of crunchy beef. I’ve been coming here for years and 90% of the time it is great. 10% of the time not so much. Garlic Sauce is still fabulous.

My wife and I met a friend at here for lunch today. Our guest had a craving for some Mediterranean food and so we decided on Mr. Kabab. I had been once before, but neither of them had. Mr. Kabab met the craving. Solid, tasty and affordable. We ordered platter #8(I can’t remember the name) to share. It was $ 20 and you definitely get your money’s worth. You can go with all kabab, all(beef/chicken) shawarma, or a combination. We went with the kabab. The beef kabab was the best. Flavor and texture was great. The chicken kabab was tasty, just a little too salty. The hummus was outstanding, but the flat bread was ok; not much flavor and a little too stiff. Mr. Kabab is ok. Maybe because I grew up enjoying various Mediterranean dishes all over Los Angeles, I’m a little hard, but I know what I like. Mr. Kabab is quick, affordable, and good overall. If you’re in the mood for Mediterranean food and want a quick and affordable lunch, this is the place to go. If you’re looking for a nice place to take a friend/date for a Mediterranean dinner, I would look elsewhere.

There are a few Mediterranean places in town you can get some good food, when you want shwarma and gyros, this is the place to go. The garlic sauce is a thin, spicy, garlic sauce that tastes amazing on everything. The cucumber salad is decent. I’ve been told the kabobs are pretty good as well. I’m not a big fan of rice, but my husband loves it. We usually get the beef and chicken shwarma. The chicken comes on a bed of spiced(i think with cinnamon) white rice and the beef of yellow saffron rice. I like this place better than some of the other places because I know at 7pm, they will have food – which is important at dinner time. Don’t bother with the falafels here, go for the meat!

I went in for a late lunch at Mr. Kabab and was totally famished. I considered ordering a platter, but settled on a lunch special of their beef schwarma with a side of tabooli. I figured I would try to be good and not go completely overboard. Boy am I glad I didn’t order the platter. This place absolutely loaded with me up with beef and rice, forming a small Mount Schwarma on my plate. I opted to eat the tabooli first, simply because it seemed a easier goal to set for myself. It tasted pretty fresh, but had sat long enough for all the flavors to marry. Which is good, because I’m not a big fan of cucumbers otherwise. Once getting to the schwarma, I noticed a few things. The beef, while overwhelming in quantity, was a little dry. That did help it soak up the garlic yogurt sauce a little better, but I’m not a big fan of anything well done. Also, it needed salt. Oddly enough, that was the only seasoning available, so they may omit it for people trying to limit their sodium intake. Not sure. I did appreciate that the rice was half white/half yellow, just to make the schwarma a little less uniform. Overall, this schwarma is not bad. Although I would probably give the chicken a shot next time. The atmosphere was clean and long brighter than I recall, and it was kind of funny because you can stare at the customers at Dunkin’ Donuts next door through a glass wall(if you’re a people watcher, that is). I did enjoy the Arabic music playing, but I’m about 83% sure they had the same 3 – 4 minute track on repeat the whole time I was there. Overall, not the best and not the worst. Definitely a solid three.

I’m updating my review to 4 stars instead of 5. After trying several other Mediterranean places in town, this one doesn’t measure up to the others in regard to freshness and quality of the food. It’s decent because I love Mediterranean food, but there are other better options in Lexington.
